"I've had difficulty finding meaning for most of my life. But when I cut everything out it was hard to not see what I wanted" this impressed me, it was really inspirational. I wrote it on my agenda so that I could see it from time to time. Love you, James.

I used to think I was a tech minimalist having just a laptop and smartphone. After watching your channel I learned the error of my ways and after acquiring 26 more tech gadgets including 4 random android E-Ink tablets, 4 more laptops, some old desktops, 3 Japanese flip phones, and 12 old MP3 players I have truly minimalized my tech and am more streamlined. I think a good way to put the difference between James' lifestyle, and the general lifestyles these days is that while for most people boredom is a means to consume, for him it is a means to produce. We take our boredom, our anxiety, our other complicated emotions, and completely burry them under consumption of media or other things. Truth be told the ways of escapism are far more advanced than it was a century ago. It's completely fair to say that we are not fairly matched against corporations that are fighting over our attention. But James shows that we *can* fight, and we can take back our attention and do things meaningful to us.
You've been a great deal of inspiration for me James, I'm entering my last year of highschool soon. You've helped me pick my major (C.E) and I aspire to one day master my boredom and be able to create things like you.

@@Nilo5321It’s the philosophy stuff and the focus on himself. You should look up and read Platos Cave. It’s something that happens when you change your life for the better and stop bad habits. Like how people who quit smoking or drinking get a little more judgmental of people who still do those things and even a little “preachy”. In reality when you find something better, you want to share it, but as humans we don’t always want to hear it. So from the outside it can seem “fake”. hey, i just wanna give you some friendly advice: at 2:38, when you were doing shoulder presses, your form was actually subpar. you don't want to lock in your arms like that at end of your extension - keeping tension in your form is crucial for muscle development. plus, when you lock in like that, you're not only risking shoulder injuries, but you're resting your muscles.
i understand the struggle and i was like you when i started at 16. although it may seem like other people are also locking in online tutorials please note that their elbows are slightly concave which gives that resistance needed for muscle growth. gl and keep it up champ

Hey buddy, I wanted to thank you for the video you made a year ago "productive day in the life" which helped me a lot to progress as a student, giving me the example and motivation that with perseverance I could get a better version of me. Thanks to the inspiration that came from watching the video before studying I was able to become aware of my potential and how to organize myself, I actually passed the subjects I had to take. Thank you n.n!
And thank you for teaching me the music of Nujabes, it's simply beautiful!

Congratulations on becoming self-actualized. I've spent a fair amount of time alone indoors and out, perfecting various versions of myself. I can tell you it's worth the investment. For those below who wish they had friends - I feel ya... don't be afraid to be vulnerable and overly friendly when you're out and about. Get out of your comfort zone with who might be a friend. Old people, librarians, cashiers, randos, etc. can be a lot of fun. Also, I've followed you for a while, and you have inspired at least 15% of my desk.

Sadly I haven't gotten to that post-addiction phase of my life yet but I really hope that one day I'm able to get to the same place you are in life. Keep up the good work and I wish the best for you. P.S. If you could do a video on avoiding burnout and or ways to motivate yourself I'd really appreciate it.
