@Leo there are microwaves in japan that are both microwaves and toaster ovens. You take out the metal plate when you want to use it as a microwave and change the mode.
The Japanese style of minimalist aesthetics is fascinating to me. It's clearly distinct from from post-WWII Western minimalism and Scandinavian minimalism - Japanese minimalism is unmistakably Japanese and has a long history, culture and philosophy. It gets a lot of things right that Western minimalism and simple living doesn't. I also greatly appreciate Japan's love of craftsmanship (takumi), imperfection (wabi-sabi), space (ma, tokoro, ba, and wa), and the Japanese arts of refinement: kodo (incense appreciation), ikebana (flower arranging), and chado (tea ceremony). There are some parallels in the West but they aren't as culturally entrenched.
A nice young man. Freedom from possessions allows for other things in life. The time working for the money to buy, maintain, and care for objects becomes time to live doing other things. I've spoken to homeless people and some said they feel free from burden of possessions
I stumbled across this video midway through a bit of a mental "I am a terrible person, everyone else has their lives together and mine is a mess" spiral, and started watching it feeling bad and expecting the video to make me feel worse (as most of these videos are of incredibly unattainable or highly productive lifestyles!). Instead, it started with the phrase "I don't do anything" and instant coffee. I know you'll likely never see this comment, but thank you so much for making this video - it's so refreshing to see a more "normal" day in the life video. As soon as I'd watched the first 30 seconds, I started to feel better (your voice is so soothing!). You seem like such a lovely, genuine person - I'm now subscribed, and am looking forward to following and supporting your journey through RUclips!
I don't define minimalism as "not doing anything" but in taking joy in the small moments of experience in life like reading, gardening, art, walks in nature, etc.
This guy is so attractive! I really like the minimalist lifestyle, unfortunately, my family are hoarders! They make my place so cramp up.. it’s horrendous! I’m constantly packing after them but its never enough.
Wow, you don't say. It seemed that when he and Yoko Ono were Married and living in The Dakota, he had a sense of calmness and peace a real Zen quality. He learned about Budget Friendliness when The Beatles were still in litigation over their breakup and his Accounts like Paul's were Frozen.
I am slowly tranforming my life in a more minimalist setup (started during the pandemic, I donated a lot of my old clothes, sold some of my book collection, etc.), and it’s nice to see how people all over the world do it haha
This is so (unexpectedly) real that I kinda love it for that side alone. This guy drinks instant coffee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally can see myself in it. Then the idea of "many people become professionals and have a lot of knowledge in their field even when they don't like it simply because they show up everyday at work" really kicks me. It's a very rational and responsible way to look at the job that comes to our hands and treat it with respect whether it'd be of our taste or not. A very condense and useful 11-minutes video. Wishing you all the best with your RUclips journey ♡
You have helped me find more peace. I suffer from ptsd and many other issues from the service and being minimal feels so good to me that I am able to pick up and leave and no one would know i was ever here.
Thank you so much for talking your time to watch this video! I can't imagine what you've been through from the service but it's amazing how you have found piece within yourself through being minimal :)
I like how he’s being honest with what he say and do. I tried minimalism way back 2017 and I stopped just recently because I find myself very empty. Today I rather called myself Naturalist because of how I tried to balance both side of the system. I try to keep an eye of myself not to live in clutter as well as avoid to much emptiness, just balance.
Balance is the most important value that I wanna develop in my life. When I was 15 years old, I realized that drink a lot of water is dangerous (Yeah, I was too naive). I didn't understand why, but at the age of 17 - one year ago- a friend told me this phrase: "The dose makes the poison" - Paracelso. It was moment I understood that many things in our lives have to be moderate, and I'm talkin' 'bout nutrition, exercise, work, lifestyle, life philosophy, etc. In a nutshell, I tell myself: don't be radical, just tryna find things that work for u:).
I once watched one of your video when you were in New Zealand with a beard, and here you are in Japan. I am not mad at RUclips reco for once. You look good bro, like relaxed and way more in peace👍.
Great insightful video. Enjoyed your thoughts on minimalism. Also, strangely, I immediately noticed the flat “i” sounds of your New Zealand accent. G’day from a new Aussie subscriber :)
First video I’ve watched of yours and subscribed. Very interesting guy, plus the fact I have an affinity for Japan and all things Japanese. Very inspiring for simple living. Love from Scotland.
You are such a wise, humble young man! I really thoroughly enjoy your videos and find them interesting, informative, refreshingly different! Thank you so much for sharing visions of your life and offering us glimpses to how to live differently!
Hahaha, thank you so much for watching this video! I'm glad that you were able to figure out why I speak English with an accent that kinda sounds familiar to yours haha
Honestly, not being hyper productive first thing when you wake up is very relatable, and I feel a lot better about myself as a minimalist. Also, I really liked something you mentioned, and it might not be exactly what you meant, but I think I'm going to focus on doing something I really enjoy first thing when I wake up even if it's not quote-unquote productive like working out or something like that
Really enjoyed this video, love the whole concept of minimalism and this was very achievable, once you mentioned that you had lived in New Zealand I could recognise a slight Kiwi accent.
I am not really a fan of minimalism because I find joy in deciding what to wear/eat and spontaneity. A lot of minimalists on social media are very harsh and austere (imo) with their approach too. But I instantly subscribe to your channel upon watching this very first video because your approach to minimalism is so relaxing and liberating. 💖
I've thought of sleeping on a shikibuton. I have disc injuries in my back and lower neck. Supposedly a firm bed would be helpful. I'm 41 and in Texas. Of course, I also like how minimal it is. I like the feel of rooms with only floor seating too. Very nice!
New subscriber here from Manila Philippines. I started to be a minimalist after loosing a job because of the pandemic. Now I am very much contented with I have it inspires me more to do great things and have more time with friends and family. Not having much and living a simple life gives me more happiness. Looking forward for more videos and tips from you. Keep up the good work!
You are such a lovely and funny man! I Like the way you are honest and natural when telling us about your Life! Nadia it's really lucky to have you! Love from Patagonia
Great video! Liked your analogy about eating when still full / having excess stuff. Also enjoyed what you said about showing up everyday with your hobbies etc
Cheers for watching this video! I don't know much about the commonness of minimalism in these two countries but I think it's becoming more and more popular among young people? Well, I should do proper research on this haha Happy holidays to you, too!
As time goes by I love minimalism more and more. But definitively I do not like extreme minimalism. I love sleeping on a bed, sit/lay on a couch and have a table with 4 chairs. Not often but I like cooking at home and invite friends I am very close with. I like a desk with a comfortable chair.
My whole family has always been the opposite of minimalist, while I am one. Rest assured: words may convince, but the example drags. After many years they have improved impressively! If your family is like this, keep doing the right thing and your example will certainly be a positive influence!
Hi from France, thank you to share with us your minimalism lifestyle. I starter my own process of this lifestyle singe two months and i like the real benefits . My family doesn't really understand me, but i don't care. I really feel free . Tale care
This is a great video and thank you! I’m having trouble being minimalist or organized lol but this is a great way to learn on how to become a better person.
This must have taken so long to film and edit 😅 I hope you enjoy the process! I tend to really dislike filming and editing typical RUclips videos that involve presenting an idea with talking. It takes so much effort to make a video that communicates effectively but is also aesthetically pleasing and creatively filmed and edited. So good job! I hope it pays off. You clearly have done the work.
I admire you are in the process of searching meaning of life and work so hard on it. I can feel your struggles. But I have no doubt on your ability and potential. What I would like to suggest for you is that please have more balanced diet. It will help your journey.
very inspiring sir actually at first you are my total opposite sir but when i watch your vlog i realise im doing wrong with my lifestyle i have right now ive learn that i need to lessen all the luxury and gadgets to my life i just need to be contented for what i have right now be happy for what i have in life thanks for the video

Watching this I'm learning more from this I've never been to Japan my hope is to go to Japan and visit for a couple of weeks I'd say at least 11 weeks and then travel to Taiwan from Taiwan to Korea soul or even poisson.
"I don't do anything"
Minimalism at its best
uP
Haahhaahah
couldn't agree more
i've been a minimalist the whole time omg
The Dao would be proud
Say what you want, but this guy made a toast in a microwave 😄
Hahaha that's such a good point! I didn't even notice that it was bizarre until you mentioned it lol
I think ita a conventional oven which toasts
its like a convection oven kinda thing
and the button he presses literally says toast
@Leo there are microwaves in japan that are both microwaves and toaster ovens. You take out the metal plate when you want to use it as a microwave and change the mode.
A minimalist that is low functioning and doesn't have pour over coffee is a minimalist that I can relate too!
Hahaha thanks for watching this video!
I hope you guys enjoy watching this video like I had so much fun editing this :)
皆さんお疲れ様です!

Love from India.
This guy could be Japanese Batman with that deep voice, strong jaw line and impressive physique.
haha
We have a Japanese Spider-Man, so a Japanese Batman seems like the next logical step haha
lmaoooooooo

I don't know why is this on my recommendation but I clicked because I'm also a minimalist and interested in Japanese culture.

Absolut so 🔥 😍

i love drinking coffee and went on to make an instant coffee! HAHHAAHAHA i was expecting some barista shit!
I remember John Lennon said that minimalism is the solution to a happy life and it's budget friendly.
John Lennon was a piece of crap and a horrible father.
This was a very fresh approach to minimalism, thank you! I appreciate your honesty and openness about your life and minimalism.
I am slowly tranforming my life in a more minimalist setup (started during the pandemic, I donated a lot of my old clothes, sold some of my book collection, etc.), and it’s nice to see how people all over the world do it haha

Im a minimalist except for food, because I prioritize health.
Good for you!
I really liked this video, there's a charm to it that I can't quite explain
I love his kiwi accent.. or is it him that i love? ☺️
A bit sad that he already has a girlfriend, hehe.
His accent is not pure Kiwi. It sounds a lot Kiwi and a little bit something else 😊
