So sad that treatment for this vicious virus came too late for Nureyev. Like him I have loved dance since childhood and still dance and create choreographies. He leaves behind his marvellous reputation as a beautiful graceful passionate energetic dancer who is an inspiration. His star still shines.
Oh Rudolf nureyev is so missed in every corner of the world. Living in south Africa i would never get to a performance i was content to know that all was well with ballet all over the world with Rudolf 's presence.

He was so much more than a danseur--he was both the dance and the Lord of the Dance, who is also the Lord of Death. Rudik embraced these roles with his whole being, with dignity, glory, and grace. Thank you for this documentary so very much. I, too, am dying of not one but two invisible diseases. I believe I have just learned how to balance the desire to live with the desire to let go, and to do that with integrity, with courage, and hope for those I must leave all too soon.
I have just finished watching the series again for the second time and am in tears...he struggled his entire life - to survive and dance. An amazing beautiful man gone much too soon!
@@rosesflowers4722. I don’t believe he knew the consequences of his choices in the beginning. And suddenly it was too late. He loved life and would never have chosen his fate for you to say that suggest that you didn’t really know him.
@@maryrosenblatt6741Yes, but the uncleanliness of exchanging bodily fluids can be viewed as careless, especially not knowing the medical risks and history of an individual.

What an INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL MAN AND A MAGNIFICENT DANCER...the most exciting and virile dancer ever !!!!!!! HE IS FOR BALLET...AS MARIA CALLAS WAS FOR OPERA. I was VERY MOVED..........thank you for this testimony.
Bravo , you died the way you wanted, on stage, just three month after you finish your last performing..just a brake ... BRAVO Rudy..RIP . Thanks a lot for sharing.
Winnie Wallace.. An absolute one off, that was Nureyev. This documentary is priceless. We can see the man who gave us more than dance. His story is unique, he overcame so much..Bravo Rudolf, bravo.
Yes, Rudolf Nureyev is a legend. Do not grief everyone, because legends NEVER die, they live in our hearts forever. Thank you God for giving us such a gifted dancer like him and for loaning him to us so that we can all capture his remarkable spirit and passion in dance.
Rest in piece. We loved you so much and you gave us such an everlasting gift with your dancing and the gift of your self. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You opened up my love for ballet as an art of joy and and extraordinary skills and exvilibrism ❤️

Amazing dancer! I am glad to have the chance to see stuff that my grandpa was able to witness in the theatre. Lucky guy. No one dances like that anymore. Nureyev started at 17 but surpassed everyone else. Wow! I’ve taken ballet before and It’s not easy even for a younger person to do those jumps !
In honor of dance: little known dancer in Little Rock, AR could no longer dance - a fellow dancer cared for him in the last years of his life. Sadly there was no other support for him. But 'twas so good of his fellow dancer to care for him. years ago.
HIs lights brning in his eyes were brilliant all his dancing career. truly a magnificent ballet dancer of the finest quality and dancers ever. if he was not the greatest he certainly was among them up there with Najinsky and Bruhn . well farewell you beautiful speciman of a man good looking and a magnficent dancer. RUDOLPH NUREYEV. a BRILLIANT CAREER A MASTER OF BALLET.
A painful reminder that we share this planet with all forms of life. We are living in a hostile world where our every move can prove fatal to us without our knowing it or meaning to cause it. So many died in those terrible days. It was a sad time in our history.
Pokazał światu jak jest utalentowany jak jest pracowity pokorny dla swojej pracy i silny psychicznie to legenda żyj wiecznie Rudolfie dziękuję i pozdrawiam
Heartbreaking video - he would have been 72years old, day before yesterday - such a shame he died through ignorance about dealing with aids. Tragic. But thank you for posting this
He probably cld have lived longer but was too 'noble' and god-like to seek the proper medical help he needed. He apparently had not think abt death and dying. The tragedy of his life was that he lived a double life because he was in love with his own body and others were in love with it too and the eroticeness of this lifestyle made him succumb to the 'flesh' of homosexuality, which when one gets into it is hard to get out of. Even though there was this stigma of Aids at that time, apparently his medical friends were too enormoured by him to force him to seek help. That's the tragedy. Straight out, gay men just loved his body and he encouraged them and thus brutalized it. Such an incredible dancer to end up like that. Heed: Our mistakes can do us all in.
Please, does anyone know what that wonderful piece of music during the end credits is called? I've searched for Alexander Balansescu's work yet I can't find the exact composition. I've been looking for almost one year so I would greatly appreciate any form of help!
I'm late joining this discussion but "murdered... by AZT" What a stupid thing to say. I lived through that horror, and lost many people close to me then. I remember how desperate we were for something, ANYTHING, that would combat the illness, and AZT did. Was the dosage too high? - yes, it was, but there is absolutely no question that it extended the lives of those who took it. We went from people dying in 4 or 6 months, to people living 18 months or 2 years. There was nothing else at the time. I have kept for 30 years in a little box in my dresser my partner's pill box alarm which used to go off every six hours day and night. It still has 3 of those white capsules with the blue band in it.
@@gtimny I did not know how much AZT still could increase a lifespan. And I'm terribly sorry for your losses, if only there would have been the same medical possibilities as of today. My condolences

Finished watching and I'm absolutely in tears. What a legend...
I saw him dance Giselle at the London Colesium in 1977
The curtain calls were almost as long as the ballet! People just worshipped him

It was her decision
He allowed his mother to live in poverty while he was feted and made rich in the West - shame on him.
