    So sad that treatment for this vicious virus came too late for Nureyev. Like him I have loved dance since childhood and still dance and create choreographies. He leaves behind his marvellous reputation as a beautiful graceful passionate energetic dancer who is an inspiration. His star still shines.

    Oh Rudolf nureyev is so missed in every corner of the world. Living in south Africa i would never get to a performance i was content to know that all was well with ballet all over the world with Rudolf 's presence.

    He was so much more than a danseur--he was both the dance and the Lord of the Dance, who is also the Lord of Death. Rudik embraced these roles with his whole being, with dignity, glory, and grace. Thank you for this documentary so very much. I, too, am dying of not one but two invisible diseases. I believe I have just learned how to balance the desire to live with the desire to let go, and to do that with integrity, with courage, and hope for those I must leave all too soon.

    • @constancemitchell9846
      @constancemitchell9846 4 года назад +2

      He probably cld have lived longer but was too 'noble' and god-like to seek the proper medical help he needed. He apparently had not think abt death and dying.
      The tragedy of his life was that he lived a double life because he was in love with his own body and others were in love with it too and the eroticeness of this lifestyle made him succumb to the 'flesh' of homosexuality, which when one gets into it is hard to get out of.
      Even though there was this stigma of Aids at that time, apparently his medical friends were too enormoured by him to force him to seek help. That's the tragedy. Straight out, gay men just loved his body and he encouraged them and thus brutalized it.
      Such an incredible dancer to end up like that. Heed: Our mistakes can do us all in.

      @gtimny 5 лет назад +7

      I'm late joining this discussion but "murdered... by AZT" What a stupid thing to say. I lived through that horror, and lost many people close to me then. I remember how desperate we were for something, ANYTHING, that would combat the illness, and AZT did. Was the dosage too high? - yes, it was, but there is absolutely no question that it extended the lives of those who took it. We went from people dying in 4 or 6 months, to people living 18 months or 2 years. There was nothing else at the time. I have kept for 30 years in a little box in my dresser my partner's pill box alarm which used to go off every six hours day and night. It still has 3 of those white capsules with the blue band in it.
