That's me! If it's something I find really interesting, I end up having to shut myself up so I don't become the one holding someone conversationally hostage...but most times that doesn't happen and I'm just awkwardly standing there wanting the talking to stop.

@travis Rm because that's why you are a good listener. They want to talk all the time and feel validated without the other person also needing to talk too. We become the perfect target for this.
Brings me back to my Sixth Form days (Collage), when a girl I sat with in Law class came up to me one time and talked for about half an hour while I'm pretty sure I never said more than a sentence back.

As an infj, I would not be able to say no to listening someone else's back story. So, yeah, never-ending conversation forever 😅
As an ENTP, I'd gladly share with you my backstory, until 2 seconds in where I realize you are uncomfortable, and ask you about your feelings which leads to you willingly telling me your backstory instead. It always happens.
As an INTP, we like to collect a sh*t ton of data on people. Like give me everything you can say about yourself, and i mean all of it. So, i prefer conversations where people talk 95% of the time, and the other 5% is either me asking for clarification or nodding and saying "u-hum"/"yes"/"ok"
As an INFJ myself, sometimes one part of me want to listen to them cause their experience is interesting to me and I want them to feel listened. But the other part want to be efficient and not losing time. So I'm happy they can talk about their problems but I'm angry for my personal case. It's always a terrible dilemma.
@@NerdyCatCoffeeee I love doing that too. I find that the fastest way to make a friend is specifically asking them about what they are passionate about, then sit back while they talk about it for an hour or so.

I'll explain a little here....I think to myself, 'I should call my friend. Haven't talked in awhile. See they're doing. But wait, it's noon. They're probably having lunch. If I call now, I may get too excited and talk too much off the hop and if they are out with friends or just trying to chew, they won't appreciate it. I better not call. They may not feel like they can say they need to go. Maybe I'll call them after lunch, yah, that'd be good. Oh wait, sometimes they like to have quiet time after lunch and that won't be good. They might not like me barging in to their world right then....but she said call anytime....?? Did she mean it? Does she really want to talk to me that much or is she being polite? But then if I don't call, she might think I don't care!! But I care so much I just want to tell her that! Oh that'd be weird. I should just talk about normal stuff....like, um....whats going on that's interesting? Oh yah that weird thing with my toe? I guess? Nothing else?! How dumb!!! I have nothing to say anyway. I won't call her. She'd just be annoyed I would call to say nothing and talk too much. I HATE THIS!!!! Stupid phones anyway!! If I just saw her in person, I would see the cues and hints, and maybe I could just enjoy a good convo with my best bud, but in the meantime, I may not ever call her because that stupid phone is so stressful!! ....spoken like a true extrovert, no?! As an ENFP, the extrovert in this video truly resonate with me. During occasional hangouts, usually it is me talking non-stop about random things and my introverts friends are just sitting and listening and providing little feedbacks. WKWKWKWK

I have a friend who won’t stop talking about her problems. I try to interject occasionally and tell her how my life is going - but no - she doesn’t want to know. Straight back to her and her life. Ugh 😑 I’m an INFJ and I listened and was supportive for at least a whole year but I’m over it now!!
That always sucks. It could be what therapists call the trauma pull. It can be hard not to get stuck in the story of the drama/trauma when there hasn't been any real emotional processing around it. But always talking about it, complaining etc. just builds those neuropathways and makes it even harder to stop. As a fellow introvert and someone with a counseling background, it's not your job to save your friend or fix them or put up with a one sided relationship. You could have a heart to heart with them or move on.
@@AndreaCrisp My usual go to response is to move on as I don’t really like getting into all out arguments which is what seems to happen if I try to point out the truth. But I probably need to attempt to do that as being an introvert it doesn’t take much to run out of friends.

I can almost picture one of my friends typing the same comment about me - sometimes I do similar things, but I'm trying to fight with it. I imagine, that it would help, if one of my friends just told me: Okay, now SHUT UP and listen to me please.
@@poprostuja8223 yes I probably should have done that. I’m wary of people reacting badly to the truth and then I get cast as the villain. But I probably need practice in stating the truth and not caving to the emotional backlash that comes after it. It would be good if you did try to ask how your friends are more as eventually it can drive them away if you forget to.

I think I scared my self by imagining that!!!!

When you get to that point, force the ending of the conversation by suddenly saying that you've talked so much and aren't good at ending conversations. Then say that since you've been talking so much, you want to hear if the other person wants to say anything. If they do, good. Now it's their turn to talk. If they don't, then thank them for their time and say your goodbye before walking away.
People will appreciate your awareness of your own flaw. And by openly mentioning your own flaw with that timing, you'll become more aware of it too, which leads to you becoming better and managing it.

This is so accurate. Usually when I'm in a conversation with extroverts, they tell me they like to talk with me cause it's easy...but bro, I often barely say anything.

You “have plans” and you “can’t be late” even if the plan is to lie in bed and examine the ceiling.
I have learned to use ...I gotta go the bathroom, I need to go eat, or I am exhausted and need a nap. No one can argue with taking care of bodily functions, and as an infj who routinely neglects my upkeep, it's usually true. We infjs sacrifice our needs to be there for others...but my body will tell me when my time is up. I even have gotten headaches from too much socializing.

I guess it's because even though I'm an introvert I'm not shy, I've also started working as a teacher so I guess I've been practicing telling people what to do lmao.
@@lauragoreni3020 I also noticed that I go a lot less shy after I started teaching. Social interactions (and teaching itself) still drain me, but untill I ran out of energy I have no problem being assertive in conversations.

This happens literally all the time. I even try avoiding people I know in public just so I don't have to talk to anyone. Then you get home and see "Hey did I just see you at Wal-Mart? How are you??".
So true! I don't shop anymore (except food). I don't even like going out in my own front yard anymore. It's not agoraphobia. Not afraid of being outside. I just don't want to be cornered by neighbors. It used to be a friendly wave and a nod. Now it's like, "Let's have a long conversation. You be my therapist and life coach. Oh, and by the way could you do something for me like house sit my pets so I can have a fabulous vacation?" No, I really don't want to do any of those things!! I even wait until 2am to take out my garbage cans. I think it's because all the extraverts have been cooped up so long in isolation that their need for human contact has reached an insatiable level. And we introverts are being bombarded.

I am INFP but I have to recognise I can be the extrovert guy in this video when I'm excited and talking about something I like so much 😂🙈 especially when he says "this story is very crazy and extremely long" 😂😂😂 but that's me talking about a story I created about my fictional characters. It's a neverending conversation because I create so many things at the same time and get lost on my thoughts hahah
But I have to be really comfortable with the person I'm talking to or I'll be the one trying to end the conversation but not having the boldness to go away worried about the possibility of hurt their feelings. this kind of conversation flow also happens between INFP me and my ESTJ sister daily 🤣 after talking for quite some time and i'm ready to go to my room, my sister just goes, "and you know what? bla bla bla." And i ended up staying and listening cuz i wanna show respect to her talking. Everytime i go out of my room to the kitchen, my sister often goes out of her room at the same time i'm in the kitchen, then strike a conversation. I'm glad that the conversation isn't as bleak and scary as depicted in the video, talking with my sister is actually quite nice! It's just unfortunate that my social interaction stamina can't keep up with her

@@effiethefey yes! Talking with my sister is quite nice, i don't hate it at all! She might miss connecting with people she usually meets in normal situation since she has to do her activities from home now due to the pandemic, and she seems to be comfortable talking to me about various topics. So sometimes i wish my social interaction capacity can last longer cuz i want to listen to my sister and i want her to feel listened to

This gives me goosebumps, I had a person in my life who did that to me again and again, each of her stories took 3 hours, and she kept saying how she enjoyed conversations with me. For me it felt like emotional violence. You think she was an extrovert? No, an INFP.

Same. It's actually energy vampirism when someone makes you pay attention to them like this. It's right in line with the ideas that extroverts gain energy socially and introverts lose energy socially. Learn assertiveness or definitely walk the f away if you wanna keep your energy!

I don't know if you struggle with this, but I definitely do: I have a lot of material but I only share a small amount of it. My perfectionism gets in the way. Just tell them you have plans in the evening, watching a movie with a friend or dining with your parents or something. I always do that, except for a couple of friends who are always great to hear and even call.

Seriously yesterday, while I was washing clothes at the laundromat.. the attendant kept talking with me and I expressed how tired I am. (Currently moving, a full time student and I work and I’m a mom.) Despite me telling her how tired I was she kept talking to me about idk what. And there were many other people at this facility. 😩 Why do they gravitate to us???
