From one boot maker to another, I loved watching that film, absolutely spellbinding. Just wonderful to hear Lee talk about those boots. Great film of a wonderful tradition. Thank-you both.
Nearly 5 years, you have the patience of Job. As an Aussie, it's great to see you using kangaroo leather. It's very soft and comfortable and has been a preferred source for years in sporting shoes and boots in our football codes in particular.
Well worth the wait from part one. Smooth ostrich and dark Kangaroo, the evolution of the Tulip design, Texas map, and the initials. This is a one of a kind perfect blend / cooperation between Lee Miller and Kirby Allison. How fortunate to own these life long elegant boots. Thank you for sharing. Lee Miller, Texas Traditions, true North American excellence in craftsmanship. Simply wonderful.
This is the series that brought me to your channel, and I'm very grateful it did. I believe you'll make those boots last much longer than 20 years. Well worth the wait.
@@kirbyallison Can't wait. If you haven't done it already, I'm sure everyone would enjoy a video where you pair an outfit with the boots. The color, stitching, design, and materials combine to make these a one of a kind set of boots. 10/10 craftsmanship and a 10/10 video, Thank you Kirby.
Awesome Kirby. As a Native Calgarian, Rodeo / Forestry / Farm / Ranch person, I certainly appreciate the work of Lee Miller. His Sh*t-kickers are top tier. Thanks.
Five years. Five. And I thought waiting well over a year for a machine-made Rolex was crazy, but hey, we're all a little crazy here. The most important thing Lee is doing there is handing down the tradition. Hopefully to MULTIPLE people.. I also like that you did yours in a way that showcases his talents and design elements. It also turned out great.
Wow! This boot is just fantastic and so stunning! I love how these people and artists are putting their souls into the products and the making of them. Without these people the traditions would disappear completely. Quality, craftsmanship and tradition are just the first letter! May I ask you Kirby on what the price are on a bespoke Lee Miller boot like this? All in all I love your videoes and content Kirby and keep up the good work!
Looks more like blue to me but I think that fits this style much better than black would. Beautiful boots, love to see the process from a master craftsman
Kirby, for this to be really authentic, you need a good pair of jeans, a belt buckle, a sturdy shirt, western leather jacket and hat to round out the whole set up. Then you'll properly fit down here in Texas. Much love from Dallas.
Salutations Kirby! A most-informative presentation, as-ever! I have worn USA cowboy-boots for many-years. Likewise, beat-boots (with a Cuban-heel). I have some bespoke leather jeans, and bespoke biker's jacket with tassles. I am fortunate to also have many Savile Row formal-shirts. I enjoy your vlogs - they are so informative. Keep-up your good-work!
It's was great to be back at Lees his workshop is amazing . Your boots are amazing kirby thankyou so much for the episode . Can't wait to watch the next episode
He probably takes years to actually make the boots because they are obviously hand made and he must have a ton of orders as this is a famous bootmaker. The only disadvantage to the long wait is that after 5 years your foot structure will change due to many factors such as age, weight and level of activity. I have seen boots made in a couple of months and the quality is top notch. There are many of these shops along the border here in El Paso.
I could be wrong but I believe the time it takes to hand make boots is about 60 hours on average (varies for each craftsman of course) so yeah it takes so long because there’s a wait list for customers. This is a true bespoke maker too so he has to make a unique last for each customer as well. I agree it makes more sense to measure the feet once it’s time to make the boots
Sir Here is a small doubt and a suggestion. Won't the way we fold our garment bags into halves and lock their bottom with the top by just a single loop affect the suit jacket's fall? Moreover, the end corners hanging and moving freely usually pose a nuisance and also lead to tearing of the bottom hook loop since it bares a lot of stress. Instead, there can be garment bags with 2 straps or belts to hold them intact and safe while being transported Thank you
I'll do it. I'll be that guy. I'll say it. I don't like the yellow. But my opinion doesn't matter. I hope they are an awesome fit and that you really like them. All the best, Kirby.
Wish I could afford a handmade boot! Pretty severe wound left me with a messed up foot and I think it would help to have boots made for me, just so expensive
Good afternoon Kirby, I have recently discovered your RUclips channel and have thoroughly enjoyed browsing through your wide range of informative and enjoyable videos. You may or may not be aware of a club situated in London called the RAC (royal automobile club) It is a beautiful building in which many sophisticated people can spend time and I would love to invite you to a conversation at the RAC the next time you are in London. Thank you for the lovely video and I hope to hear from you soon!
Just so you know Kirby people have no idea what it is like to have a true craftsman fit you for a boot the wait is long because he is at the top of his game but you will be rewarded with a boot that was actually made to fit you.
I asked Lee if he would teach me the pinched rose and he told me that was one secret that he promised Charlie he would never divulge. So I happened to be in Duck Menzies' shop one day and I mentioned the pinched rose and how Lee would not divulge how it was made, and Duck said "oh hell, I'll show you". he said "I was at Charlie's shop one day and Charlie was headed out to go fishing. I asked Charlie how he did his pinched rose, and Charlie said come on inside Duck, I'll show you."...and that is how I learned the Charlie Dunn pinched Rose.
This is unrelated to this video, but, as a fellow citizen of NE Texas (specifically an hour East of the Metroplex in Sulphur Springs), I always wonder who your tailor is. I haven’t watched for all that long, so maybe I missed a video where it is said. I saw you once at the Texas Discovery Gardens around a year and a half ago (during that drive through state fair) and almost asked then. However, you were wrangling one of your children who seemed to be having a bad day, and I didn’t want to be rude. If you’re reading this Kirby, I would love to know who you’d recommend.
Mr.Allison, from now on it is just a matter of months that netflix will pitch a fashion series with you as creative director and host. you heard it first.
Kirby feet were measured almost five years ago! I'm going to be curious how well these boots will fit considering kirby's feet have had to have changed in the five years 🤔???
Indeed! That's what I've always wondered about bespoke shoe/bootmakers. Preston Soto at the Elegant Oxford mentioned that his feet size has went down many sizes since he started exercising. I can only imagine how much that affects measurements.
Kirby is around the exact same size he was then, so maybe his feet haven't changed too much. But I agree, 5 years is a long time, would suck if they didn't fit well.
It’s a wait list. He has to wait for the opportunity to get a pair. Probably takes a few weeks at most to make these because it’s by hand and also had to make a last (the shape of the customers unique feet) just for this pair
@@gcmacyman idk lol I agree it’s dumb to measure the feet five years before making the actual boots. Should be done when they’re near ready to build it

I do hope that your feet have not swelled during that 55 month wait time..:-) In all honesty, the black leather looks amazing, but the yellow is a bit bright, almost fake? Because the maker has a wait list. He’s one man he can’t make hundreds of pairs for each customer all at once
