    In case anyone wanted to run KVM on this, here are the IOMMU groupings. You can use NVME as BOOT, passthrough Sata Controller and a PCIE (x1 slot 1) as NIC for something like OPNSense.
    Can add another NVME in the smaller M.2 or in the PCIE x 16 slot (granted leaving 12 lanes on the table).
    If you can pick one up for < $200 w/ the i7-8700 it's hell of a hypervisor for a homelab. Remember, that PSU won't support anything except a GT 730 or 1030 due to the low power requirements without some modding. Enjoy your build!

      @carlapr97 yes, you need a 24 pin to 10pin converter. Apevia & Silverstone make TFX PSU's, the latter being the higher quality unit.

    Hi, I work at an elementary school. Some kids broke the headphones and the metal piece is stuck inside the headphone port. Could I open up the computer like this and get those pieces out? What do you recommend. Please reply soon.

    I can swap my Optical Drive on my T420 for a drive cady and install a 2nd drive. Can you do this on the M720. Did I see a m.2 connector on the motherboard? The manual shows one behind the SATA 3 connectors and next to the WiFi card slot.

    Hi, Aaron! Thank you a lot for your video! I'm thinking on buying a LENOVO M720s SFF, but I saw that it doesn't come with WIRELESS/BLUETOOTH basic preinstalled. You told that you ordered it as an optional item, but it isn't possible to order this additional card for the models sold in Brazil. So, I'd like to know if your WIRELESS m.2 card works well (which is its brand) and if there is, besides the WIRELESS slot, another m.2 one, where I can plug a SSD card in. Thanks for your attention! Best regards.

      I have a Intel 8265 which came as the upgrade. I never used the Bluetooth 4.2 but everything shows up good in the device manager. There also should be another M.2 slot in the PC as well.

    Great informational video! I noticed two additional green slots when you were installing the RAM. Can I install 4 separate RAM cards? I also noticed that in my m720s only the blue slots were used, just like yours. I'm thinking about replacing my 2 4GB cards with 2 8GB cards, but I would just as soon add the 2 8GB cards into the green slots if that's possible. Do you know if that can be done?

    • @SFLocker
      @SFLocker  4 года назад +1

      Yes. I have 16 GB in the system now made up of 4x 4GB sticks but I would suggest balancing the DIMMS as best as possible with the same spec of ram. The color coding is for the dual channel memory so you install a stick in "both lanes" of traffic and get the most benefit. I would think the system would work with a mix of 4GB and 8GB sticks but I am not sure if you would get maximum performance from them. You could always try it and sell off the lesser ram if it didn't work correctly :-/

    So I wanted to add a better graphics card to my M720s Thinkcentre. The one I want is to large to fit in the case, is it possible to remove the motherboard and all other components into a larger case?

      Sorry for the late reply... Yes, you can remove the fan, heatsink, and OEM processor- as to what it can be upgraded to, I have not checked yet. Perhaps in a year or so if the prices of CPUs come down.
