The writer of the film was interviewed by the FBI because when they were sent a copy of the script to review for security purposes, they realized that the basics of Simon's plan to distract the NYPD and burrow through to the money could actually work. He had to explain to them that every piece of information he'd used to plot it out was from publicly available sources and guided tours. They actually had to implement new security procedures at the Federal Reserve due to the movie so that this couldn't happen in real life. Also, this is easily the 2nd best Die Hard film, only falling short of "Die Hard" (1988) itself. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were the duo we didn't know we needed, and Jeremy Irons is great as a villain.
Those kids with the boombox in the beginning of the film were also arrested and taken in for questioning. The kids had to explain that they weren't actually given a boombox by anyone who stole it, that they were only actors in a film. Still, the FBI had to implement new protocols as they now realised that some criminals could use that tactic in real life.
its crazy how people can gather from bits of random information. I remember a story that during the Vietnam war, a mission was being planned to rescue American POWs from a Vietnamese camp. All the facets of the mission were being meticulously organised in absolute secrecy. When eveything was almost ready, a few of the planners I guess were off duty and a random officer asked them "so whens the secret mission?" After much urgent shooshing and checking under tables and around corners for spies they cooly asked "what secret mission?" The guy explained he had just randomly picked up information in idle conversation he had with guys around the camp. Like "Doc can't come out with us tonight, they're expanding the casualty station and he's gotta organise that shit". Or "look I can't issue you that stuff, why? cause I got orders to hold onto em thats why". Little tidbits like that and pretty soon the entire camp was buzzing about this apparent secret mission that was gonna go down.
Agree this is the 2nd best of the 3 Die Hards. Only 3! The problem I had with #2 was why would they bring a high profile prisoner like that to a civilian airport? Andrews AFB is right there. In fact there are about 100 civilian airports in the area they could have diverted all those planes to.
What I love about DH3 is that its not just 'a change' from the first one, but its a deliberate 'inversion' of the first. Its summer rather than winter, rather than being trapped in a small space, everything it too far apart, and rather than being isolated, McLane is stuck with someone he doesnt want to be with.
Good point. They tried that in the following movies too, unfortunately the inversion of "let's do the opposite of what made the previous movies great" isn't as effective.
You could say the same about the sequel. So much so Willis wanted his character to die in the previous installment because it took away the claustrophobic emotions the original played off of
Two Brits, Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons, playing two bad guy German brothers in two Die Hard films. It has the same director as the first film which is probably why you liked it more than the second film.
In regards to the water jug puzzle: Fill the 5-gallon jug. Use it to fill the 3-gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons in the 5-gallon jug. Empty the 3-gallon jug, and then pour in the 2 remaining gallons from the other jug. Fill the now empty 5-gallon jug and pour 1 gallon into the 3-gallon jug. There are 4 gallons left in the 5-gallon jug. Can't believe I still remember that! LOL
Ha thanks for the walk through of how they did it in the movie as never quite got that. I always did it in my head as 3gal front the 3gal into the 5, then refill the 3gal and pour 2 of it into the 5 (it can only take 2 more gal) leaving 1 gal in the 3gal. Then empty out the 5 and pour the 1gal in, plus another full 3gal gives 4gal. Probably more complicated but gets the same result so didn't understand why it didn't match any of the dialogue but makes sense if there's actually a couple of ways to do it lol
It's hard to understand written that way, but if I think of it as a serial dilution problem in my work lab, THEN it makes all the sense lol. I'm always having to mix two diverse solutions of different concentrations to arrive at an end product of a specific blended strength/concentration, which then insures it reacts properly and expectedly when dosed to another solution.
Jeremy Irons is so awesome in this movie. He was able to capture Rickman's eccentricities and pair them with this kind of intimidating game master persona. He's essentially real life Scar in this.
I'm trying to think if there really was any movie he wasn't great in. I know he was in terrible movies, but I heard even in the OG D&D movie, he stole every scene, lol.
You just have to appreciate the effort they took to make this film: the opening shot with the explosion was real, they had permission to actually drive thru Central park, and the bridge stunt was real as well.
The point of John asking for the aspirin (at least this is how I understood it); that was him insulting Simon. He is trapped and almost certain to die but instead of begging for mercy or showing fear he says something to the villain that amounts to “youre not as important/dangerous as my hangover”.
Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson’s chemistry is off the charts in this movie. Superb duo and then add jeremy iron’s character and his tie to the original was a great plot point.
What is so great about this movie is that all of the people working for the police department are competent (unlike the ones in Die Hard). You can see most of the staff all working together to be heroes, from Joe Lambert (the Canadian Graham Green) to Charles Weiss (the bomb squad guy).
#4 has grown on me over the years. I don't think I liked it at first but I was comparing it to previous ones. It really isn't like any of them again, which is goodd.
Not even close. It does not have the heart of the original. It's just chase, chase, chase. The link John had with Holly and the cop Al and even the limo driver Argyle was special.
One of the coolest aspects of this film that the other movies don't have is that you finally get to see John McClane in his home environment with his colleagues. His whole precinct is almost as daring and brave as he is. It shows what kind of man McClane would have to be to keep up with a department like that. I would've love to have seen a spinoff TV show with all those characters solving crimes around NY and they could just say that John was on suspension to write him out for budget reasons.
This film was so New York City, the cast and crew went out of their way to make this film live and breathe pre-911 NYC; it was essentially and love letter to my home city! This Die Hard, being a top tier action film, really captured the NYPD(despite the “gullibility”) in one of the best lights the department ever had(my old job). This third installment of Die Hard legit fired on all cylinders to make it, critically acclaimed, the best in the franchise, even till today.
The fourth one is a Independence day themed one. I'm sure you will like it. This one is fun and Samuel L. Jackson seems to have really good chemistry with Willis. The two together are fun to watch. Enjoy this one. Thanks girls.
The fourth movie is a good action film but not necessarily a good Die Hard movie. John McClane is just a regular guy, not a superhero. But in Live Free he's launching police cars up at helicopters, etc. Like I said its a good film just not a good DH film. But the 5th movie is a total dumpster fire of terribleness.
@@joemckim1183 I agree on both counts. I'm calling it a DH just out of habit and the title. Other Willis movies that are just him being him with great cast of characters around him on both sides are the "RED" and "RED 2" flicks. They are lots of fun and full of action/witty sarcasm. I think the sisters would enjoy them.
I really liked the 4th movie Live Free or Die Hard (2007), great supporting cast and one of the first movies that features a modern warfare type villains not the old school types in the first 3 films.
three things that you two asked. Back in ship travel days you took a travel trunk. Not a suitcase. Elephants have a trunk. The bottom of the pill package was written in french. So he knew that was across from across the border. And yes he just wanted aspirin that all took place in one day he still had a really bad hangover.
Hi again ladies. Update to my previous comment. I just rewatched this and ... the guy you wondered about being from Canada. His name is Graham Greene and he was born on Six Nations reserve in Ontario. As to what you have seen hin in, the Mel Gibson movie Maverick, Graham played Mel's Indian Chief friend who owed him money
This one is my favorite for sure. Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson are fantastic together. The 4th one is pretty great too. You'll both like it. Don't bother with the 5th one.
The aspirin bottle was bought at a truck stop in Quebec called "Nord des Lignes" and it had the name printed on the bottom so John knew he bought it from there and guessed that is where he would be going back to.
@@lexkanyima2195 Well I guess we can assume that truck stop only has one location so it was easy to know where to go. But if you want to assume they have multiple locations I guess maybe it was just the closest one to New York.
Yes, Graham Greene is a Canadian-born First Nations actor. Freakin' brilliant. If you haven't watched Graham and Val Kilmer in Thunderheart, you've really missed something.
This wasn’t originally a Die Hard movie. I believe the script was originally called Simon Says and then someone came along and decided that it was time for a 3rd Die Hard film and they reworked the story. It is fantastic. I love this one as much as the first because they are both fresh stories. The second felt derivative and the rest are just so-so
That actually makes a lot of sense! I've always thought this one was too different from the first two, like it didnt really had the Die Hard signature or something. To me it feels more like "The Last Boy Scout" or something along those lines.
@@trevorjames4619 sort of. It was originally a standalone film. Warner Bros purchased it and rewrote it was a Lethal Weapon movie but that didn’t happen so then 20th Cent Fox bought it and turned it into Die Hard. I believe the original script was supposed to be for Brandon Lee but then he died making The Crow
Funny thing is that the original script for a 3rd Die Hard film was called Troubleshooter. But they didn't go with it because the story was WAY too similar to Under Siege starring Steven Segal. Which is ironic when you consider that script would be used for SPEED 2 (and look how that disaster turned out...). So the script used for THIS movie, actually happened to be an idea for a Lethal Weapon sequel, but the cast and crew didn't go with it because they felt it was treading the same ground from the first two movies. So it was later re-purposed into this film. And boy, after a rewatch, I can see several similarities. Having said that, I'd say it's even a miracle a third movie was even made.
I'll never not find it hilarious when Carly has to look away from the gruesomeness 😂😂😂 The moment when Aragorn beheads the Huruk-Hai that fell Boromir.... Carly's reaction is gold 😂😂
Saw this opening night and the theater was so packed there was literally a line of people that had to stand against the back wall. The usher comes in and goes, "You're going to have to leave", and everyone's like, "We're good"
This is honestly my favorite Die Hard. And I heard one or two are two of my favorite action movies. This is the one I saw in the theater and I thought it was amazing. It almost seems Hokie at first but there's a reason for all of it and I think the villain it's top-notch and I love that they have the ants go marching one by one song throughout
I seriously can't express how much I love watching you guys. You're just genuine and fun. And speaking of fun, here's a fun fact, the 72nd and Broadway scene was done for real ... in NYC. Not only was my office across the street when they were filming that scene, some coworkers and I went to have lunch at a Dallas BBQ on 72nd that day and Mr. Jackson and Mr. Willis were in the restaurant holding court. Well Samuel L. was, Bruce was very low key and they were both awesome. It's one of the few movies that got the subway right and it always stuck in my mind. Except for that yellow phone but that was the point.
The first Die Hard was based on a novel called “Nothing Lasts Forever”, by Roderick Thorp, which I’m pretty certain was set at Christmas time. The script for “Die Hard 2: Die Harder” was actually originally intended to be “Commando 2”, but got switched at the last second. “Die Hard With a Vengeance” was based off an already existing screenplay called “Simon Says”, in which they wedged John McClain into the plot. “Live Free or Die Hard” was based off a Wired article from 1997, called “A Farewell to Arms”, by John Carlin. In fact, the only Die Hard movie to have an original screenplay, originally planned as a Die Hard entry was the fifth (and by far worst) film, “A Good Day to Die Hard.”
Die Hard 2 is based on the novel "58 Minutes" by Walter Wager. And yeah, the 5th movie is awful. The producers clearly didn't understand, what a Die Hard movie is about.
I cannot believe you put the revenge thing together so early .. when I saw this the first time I was shocked... you two are getting good at this movie plot business
Great film. Was the biggest boxoffice hit of 1995 too. The genius of this movie is shaking up the Die Hard formula and making it a great buddy action flick rather than the lone guy in a single location. And helps that the buddy is the incomparable Sam Jackson and McTiernan is back directing. Love it.
Die Hard 4.0 is awesome! Fans shit on it just because it doesn’t swear as much and because one action scene goes a bit over the top. The heart of Die Hard and the McClane character are still in excellent form, though - Bruce is great in it once again! (Die Hard 5, however, is a sad story.)
The next Die Hard movie is my 2nd favorite after the original "Die Hard". "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007) has Timothy Olyphant, Maggie Q, & Justin Long. Instead of Holly, the movie has John's college age daughter. Not a fan of the 5th movie but you need to watch "Live Free or Die Hard"!
I am not ashamed to say that this one is my favorite in the franchise. The characters are great and the lines are so 90s action and I love it. I actually wrote a paper on this movie for my Crime and the Media class in college. And I know that 4 gets a lot of grief, especially due to the PG-13 rating, but I really enjoy it as well.
In case you were curious for the explanation for the riddle to get exactly 4 gallons from a 5 gallon jug and 3 gallon jug (there are actually multiple ways to solve this but here's one that comes to mind real quick). You fill the 3 gallon jug all the way to the top and you pour it into the 5 gallon jug. You fill the 3 gallon jug up again and you pour it into the 5 gallon jug (containing 3 gallons already) until it reaches the top. This leaves you with 1 gallon left in the 3 gallon jug (since you had to pour 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug to fill it up). You pour out the entire 5 gallons and you transfer the 1 gallon that was left in the 3 gallon jug to the empty 5 gallon jug. This leaves you with exactly 1 gallon in a 5 gallon jug. You fill up the 3 gallon jug to the top and you pour it into the 5 gallon jug which leaves you with exactly 4 gallons. Love you reaction videos btw, especially the Count of Monte Cristo one.
You were absolutely right, the clue was on the bottom of the aspirin bottle. Firstly, it said Nord which is French for North and the suggestion was that they were heading for Canada, probably Quebec or Montreal where they speak French.
I gotta say, this is my favorite of the franchise. The original will ALWAY be awesome, but I love the chemistry between Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jeremy Irons was great as the villain and that car ride through the park was freakin' awesome. I don't know who's idea it was to use "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" as a main theme, but damn it works. Another great Bruce Willis is "Tears of the Sun". Hopefully it will be on a poll some day.
Great reaction as always, Ladies. The answer for the riddle of the water is.. Fill the 5 gallon jug Pour the water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug Now you have 2 gallons left in the 5 gallon jug Dump out the water from the 3 gallon jug Pour the 2 gallons left inside the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug Now fill the 5 gallon jug again Use the 5 gallon jugs' water to fill the rest of the 3 gallon bucket that has 2 gallons in it. That will leave you with 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug
Most people don't realize Detective Kowalski is the same lady that played Yvette the maid in Clue. And Walsh was one of the LAPD officers on the ground in the first film.
The first and third Die Hard movies are my favorites. The biggest thing I liked about the fourth Die Hard was the title, Live Free Or Die Hard, as I am from New Hampshire and Live Free Or Die is our state motto. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was also in the fourth Die Hard and she is always a joy to watch.
The first four Die Hard movies are actually all adapted from unrelated books with the main character changed to John McClain, the 5th Die Hard movie is the first and only original screen play. The book 'Simon Says' which was used for Die Hard with a Vengeance was also considered to be used for Lethal Weapon 4, so imagine this movie with Riggs and Murtaugh.
John was asking for aspirin the entire movie to deal with his hangover. Simon had aspirin, and a nearly empty bottle that we see him downing from occasionally, because he suffers severe migraines (a detail we're told by the FBI).
This is the quintessential example of a great action movie, similarly with the first. They work so well because the bad guy is smart, interesting, and charismatic with complex motivations, not just cool good guys. The bad ones have an over the top evil boring bad guy. Jeremy Irons and Alan Rickman, it hardly gets much better than that. The bad guy actors should be as good as the good guy actors. This was the first Die Hard to give John a partner and Samuel L was obviously a great choice. I had seen 1 & 2 before but this was the first one I saw in the theaters and it was such a fun movie. When he finally said Yippee Ki-Yay at the end the whole theater cheered.
Funny fact - for my childhood this was the only Die Hard movie we had. I don't even remember why we had it, I think it was just on a VHS somebody had recorded for us. The other movie on that tape was Terminator 2. So for most of my childhood I just basically watched those sequels over and over again. So, to me, they are the main movies - they stand alone pretty well! (It's also responsible for me having a huge crush on Jeremy Irons as a kid lol.)
This one is actually my favorite, with the first one a close second. The action and the story were great, it has a great villain and the chemistry between Samuel l. Jackson and Bruce Willis was too good ! By the way, 4 is definitely worth a watch !
The script for Die Hard 3 was not actually a Die Hard movie. It was a stand alone action/cop script called "Simon Says" but the Die Hard people liked it so much they re-worked/re-wrote it into a John McClane film. Much more fresh and original then Part 2.
Yeah the dude in the Federal Reserve gave himself away by saying “dogs and cats” instead of “cats and dogs” and calling the elevator a “lift.” Though they never really showed McClane catching on until he saw the badge. I always thought it would’ve been cool if they cut to his face putting it together after those slip ups.
This movie is such a love letter to NYC. It somehow made it seem like the city itself was a living breathing character in the film. You should check out the alternative ending where McClain catches up to Simon and makes play a game of McClain says.
Very happy you liked this one. When part III came to the cinema I wasn't sure about it. It's never easy to continue a successful story in another decade. But they made it.
@@rogerlucero834 Ye I like the story line , people think it went too far with the action , it’s a die hard movie ffs lol , Timothy Olyphent and Justin Long are both great
Mary Elizabeth Winstead did amazing job as John's daughter. She even earns the same exasperated look from the villain John usually gets. Nobody can piss a villain off as bad as a McClane.
What’s crazy is how this production took place during golden era of the Law and Order series, with both filming in NY at the same time. Honestly this whole film feels like a big budget episode of Law and Order. What’s really crazy is the majority of this cast and crew have appeared on Law and Order in some capacity (Sam Jackson most notably). The whole police squad (Walter, Charlie, Joe, Connie) are my favorite side characters. Every scene with them, I keep expecting Lennie Briscoe and Ray Curtis to wander in from the 27.
John McTiernan returned as director for Die Hard 3. He directed the original Die Hard and I was thrilled to know that he came back for this one. I thought he did a fantastic job. Highly recommend Die Hard 4.0. It also has an intelligent story line and is very well made. Maggie Q has a part in it who appeared in Mission Impossible 3. The first Three movies are all based on novels. Which is why they did so well. Thankyou, Popcorn in Bed for the great video 🙂 Sadly, its Die Hard 5 that wasn't very good. 🙃😋
I know some people don't like forth Diehard, but there is nothing wrong with it. It has a great bad guy and is a very fun movie. I can't say that about part 5. Not sure what the people that dislike it are smoking. I think you would love it and it even has his daughter in it.
The fourth film is fantastic. I've watched it a bunch of times and it's always super entertaining. The fifth is so horrible I've never given it a second watch.
My favourite of the entire series. For those still stumped: A = 3ltr jug | B = 5ltr jug Fill B to full (0:5) > Use B to fill A (3:2) > Empty A & tip B into A (2:0) > Fill B (2:5) > Use B to finish filling A = (3:4).
Don't believe everything you hear! The next Die Hard has always been my favorite one, after the first one. (For whatever that's worth lol admittedly) But, I have always loved Timothy Olyphant. (Especially in the Mandalorian) And in his early performance in the awesome movie; "Go!" And he plays a great antagonist to John McLain. Then there's Justin Long, and Kevin Smith, etc. It's great. Anyway, give it a chance! Decide for yourself. Don't let the opinions of others color your potential enjoyment. (Just a suggestion ✌️)
Bruce got his big start on a romantic comedy tv drama called Moonlighting. I haven’t watched it since it aired and don’t know how well it has aged but it was top tier in its day. He won an Emmy for his role.
Yes, it was a great series in the mid 80s with quirky characters and inventive plots. Bruce actually made the first Die Hard while also doing Moonlighting. You should watch the 2-hour pilot starring Bruce with Cybil Shepherd. I think all the episodes are on RUclips.
@@johncampbell756I was not a frequent watcher of Moonlighting at the time, but I did love the theme song by Al Jarreau and I enjoyed their parody episode of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.
Saying the first Die Hard movie can't be a Christmas movie because this one isn't a Christmas movie, is like saying Christmas Vacation isn't a Christmas movie because the other Vacation movies aren't Christmas movies.
This is a great one, but it comes in #3 for me. The number one will always be the original. But I have to say, Live Free or Die Hard is a very close second. Just an amazing movie. You will love it.
I actually enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) more than the 2nd film, and I think you'll both like it as well.. The 5th film i can barely remember, but remember enough to know i wouldn't bother watching it again.
Agreed. Live Free or Die Hard I think steps it up from the 90's ones and sets a solid fresh action tone for 2000's. But yeah, maybe 5 they didnt do a good job with.
"What has 4 legs and always ready to travel?". An elephant because it always carries it's own trunk. Hope you guys carry on with the Die Hard franchise.
Love the way you two duck and dodge simultaneously during close call in the car and train scenes. Very cool reactions from you two. This is a great sequel to the first two movies and the friendship that evolves between the two main characters is very well done. Enjoy the next couple of movies when you get a chance.😃
Jeremy Irons is wildly underrated in America. When you two get into the Three Musketeers (check out the 90s version with Kiefer Sutherland and Charlie Sheen), Jeremy is in a sequel called The Man In The Iron Mask, with a young DiCaprio 😉
Did you recognize Graham Greene? He's the Canadian actor playing detective Joe Lambert with the flat-top haircut. He was also Kicking Bird in Dances With Wolves. This is such a great franchise - and I swear they kept getting better and better. "Hey, Zeus!" has always been cool since this film! Next one is Live Free Or Die Hard and definitely worthy, but I didn't see the last one. Hi, Carly! - (you're such a peach).
I really enjoyed your reaction to this movie. I especially love you and your sister reviewing together. (not in a creepy way) you two have a wonderful on screen chemistry.
Pour the 5 gallon into the 3, leaving 2 gallons in the 5. Pour out the 3. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 into the 3, which leaves 1 gallon of space. Fill up the 5. Pour the 5 into the 3, which has 1 gallon of space left. You're left with 4 gallons in the 5.
If our girls Cassie and Carly finally react to stardust (2007) I will seriously think about going to Patreon for once. I really think they would love this film.
Watching this just reminds me how insane these action scenes were in the theatre on the big screen. McTiernan REALLY delivered. The whole cast is amazing. The commercials didn't do it justice, at all. I saw this in college and it was the end of the semester. All I wanted to do, right up to the opening weekend, was see this movie. I'm sure I failed at least one of those classes, lol.
Fill the 3 gal pour into the 5. Fill the 3 gal again top off the 5 leaving 1 gal left in the 3 gal container. Dump out the 5 gal completely and pour the 1 gal left from the 3 gal container into the 5. Fill up the 3 gal one more time and pour it into the 5. Should be 4 gallons.
The 4 legs and is always ready to travel is in reference to an elephant having a trunk.

He was well prepared for this role.
The film was directed by John McTiernan, who made the first film, and he is one of the greatest action directors ever.
Unfortunately he was also a gigantic douche. Great director, horrible person
And I believe the reason why he didn't direct the second one was because he was committed to directing "Hunt for Red October".
Also he was directing Predator 1987
He also directed the
13th Warrior.
"Lives are in danger Carly!"
"Yeah, by him!"
Easily my favourite part of the reaction.
Cassie and Carly are a tad like John and Zeus in the film.
I actually love Live Free or Die Hard! Timothy Olyphant is such a treat as a bad guy.
Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson’s chemistry is off the charts in this movie. Superb duo and then add jeremy iron’s character and his tie to the original was a great plot point.
You two clocked the villain's relationship with the first movie immediately. Very impressive
They could have looked it up previously.
What is so great about this movie is that all of the people working for the police department are competent (unlike the ones in Die Hard). You can see most of the staff all working together to be heroes, from Joe Lambert (the Canadian Graham Green) to Charles Weiss (the bomb squad guy).
This is darn near a perfect action movie... gets right to it and does not let up till it ends. Love it!
I agree; the pacing is just damn near perfect.
First Die hard movie I saw as a kid. Hooked for life! Great movies!
One or the only case when a third part of a serie is good like the first one. Second Die Hard isnt that good.
Definitely loved this Die Hard but I also love the next one with Justin Long. Good villain in part 4 too. But part 5 is unfortunately forgettable
#4 has grown on me over the years. I don't think I liked it at first but I was comparing it to previous ones. It really isn't like any of them again, which is goodd.
Justin was a great comedy sidekick. Writers did an awesome job keeping him funny and not overly annoying. So many mess that up.
Die Hard with a Vengeance is arguably as good as the original. Its just as smart, fun, exciting and engaging. And I love Jeremy Irons as Simon.
Not even close. It does not have the heart of the original. It's just chase, chase, chase. The link John had with Holly and the cop Al and even the limo driver Argyle was special.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095but the story was told
Diehard was over the top which made it hokey fun. This movie was so ridiculous, over the top that it ended up being a parody of itself.
Agreed, I would argue it's even better. It's a top-notch action movie with a great pace and great characters.
@@AtlasBlizzard Agreed. I love little details like John eating the scab off his finger. You never see that kind of humanity in most action movies
Yeah, no "stupid incompetent cops" cliche like in the first two movies and I love it.
It's certainly easy to believe John would get himself suspended repeatedly.
But also that they would be brought back every time.
They had more liberties to film anywhere in New York
90s movies were essentially filmed where they were set.
“Lives are in danger, Carly!” The rapid fire commentary you both have is so funny.
That was hilarious 😂
That’s probably the funniest commentary moment in this reaction

The fourth one is a Independence day themed one. I'm sure you will like it. This one is fun and Samuel L. Jackson seems to have really good chemistry with Willis. The two together are fun to watch. Enjoy this one. Thanks girls.
The 4th is carried on Timothy Olyphant's shoulders. But still fun.
Too bad they toned the violence down for PG-13. F**king studios.
@osmanyousif7849 that's why you watch the unrated version lol
Love Maggie Q
Justin Long is great in that one!
Bruce Willis does lose his everyman type personality by that movie though.
It's not bad just weird that it was PG-13

The aspirin bottle was bought at a truck stop in Quebec called "Nord des Lignes" and it had the name printed on the bottom so John knew he bought it from there and guessed that is where he would be going back to.
these girls are Canadians, I'm shocked they were slow to caught up lol
How did he find out the location ?
@@lexkanyima2195 Well I guess we can assume that truck stop only has one location so it was easy to know where to go. But if you want to assume they have multiple locations I guess maybe it was just the closest one to New York.

It was originally supposed to be a script for another lethal weapon movie
@@trevorjames4619 sort of. It was originally a standalone film. Warner Bros purchased it and rewrote it was a Lethal Weapon movie but that didn’t happen so then 20th Cent Fox bought it and turned it into Die Hard. I believe the original script was supposed to be for Brandon Lee but then he died making The Crow
@@presencerocks2224did they sold it?
I'll never not find it hilarious when Carly has to look away from the gruesomeness 😂😂😂
The moment when Aragorn beheads the Huruk-Hai that fell Boromir.... Carly's reaction is gold 😂😂

Literally one of the best action movies ever made.
Me too. But, I first saw this on 📀.
Mine too!
Mine too
I too will die on this hill!
Its close between this one and the original. Samuel L Jackson really does add a lot to the movie, but I do love me a little Hans.
More freedom
This movie holds a special place in my heart. This is one of the last movies I saw with my parents before they separated.
This is the best Die Hard movie IMO. The first movie is great but it goes to a whole different level with this movie.
5th movie?
@@patrickoconnor5494 Yup, the movie where John McClain with his son.....
Die Hard 2 is based on the novel "58 Minutes" by Walter Wager. And yeah, the 5th movie is awful. The producers clearly didn't understand, what a Die Hard movie is about.

Great film. Was the biggest boxoffice hit of 1995 too. The genius of this movie is shaking up the Die Hard formula and making it a great buddy action flick rather than the lone guy in a single location. And helps that the buddy is the incomparable Sam Jackson and McTiernan is back directing. Love it.

Die Hard 4 is actually titled "Live Free or Die Hard" and is definitely worth a watch. My second favorite Die Hard movie.
I completely agree!! One of my favs!
Both "Live Free or Die Hard" and "A Good Day to Die Hard" are worth watching imo.
Yes, and don’t forget it has Lucy McClane in it.
Die Hard 4 is underrated but Die Hard 5 is legitimately one of the worst movies ever made.
The next Die Hard movie is my 2nd favorite after the original "Die Hard". "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007) has Timothy Olyphant, Maggie Q, & Justin Long. Instead of Holly, the movie has John's college age daughter. Not a fan of the 5th movie but you need to watch "Live Free or Die Hard"!
it's pure trash. Like the Indiana Jones movies and Star Wars movies, there are only three movies. The rest are pure rethreads.
Strangley It was called Die Hard 4.0 in Europe

You sure ?
@@lexkanyima2195 Yeah I'm pretty sure the math adds up...
You were absolutely right, the clue was on the bottom of the aspirin bottle.
Firstly, it said Nord which is French for North and the suggestion was that they were heading for Canada, probably Quebec or Montreal where they speak French.
My favorite Die Hard movie!! I am so glad you guys both liked it. I LOVE JEREMY IRONS and this movie was the reason why!
My favorite line: When Bruce Willis was cleaning the blood off his face. Carlie: "That's unsanitary." LOL

Fill the 5 gallon jug
Pour the water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug
Now you have 2 gallons left in the 5 gallon jug
Dump out the water from the 3 gallon jug
Pour the 2 gallons left inside the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug
Now fill the 5 gallon jug again
Use the 5 gallon jugs' water to fill the rest of the 3 gallon bucket that has 2 gallons in it.
Well done, ladies, for guessing the villain identity twist so early!!🎩
I will always have a special place in my heart for this movie because the bridge scene was shot in my home city.
The old Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, S.C....which got demolished and rebuilt soon after this movie came out.
Die Hard 4 is really good too. Still classic Die Hard but in a modern world.
5gal into 3gal = 2gal in 5gal
2gal into 3gal, fill 5gal, then fill the reminding 1gal left in the 3gal

Funny fact - for my childhood this was the only Die Hard movie we had. I don't even remember why we had it, I think it was just on a VHS somebody had recorded for us. The other movie on that tape was Terminator 2. So for most of my childhood I just basically watched those sequels over and over again. So, to me, they are the main movies - they stand alone pretty well! (It's also responsible for me having a huge crush on Jeremy Irons as a kid lol.)
Die Hard 4 is really worth watching. Probably my most watched of the Die Hard films.
Then what's lacking in the 2nd ?
Yeah the dude in the Federal Reserve gave himself away by saying “dogs and cats” instead of “cats and dogs” and calling the elevator a “lift.” Though they never really showed McClane catching on until he saw the badge. I always thought it would’ve been cool if they cut to his face putting it together after those slip ups.
The riddle "what has four legs and is already ready to travel" is an Elephant because it has a trunk (aka, another word for a travelling case).

The fourth film is fantastic. I've watched it a bunch of times and it's always super entertaining. The fifth is so horrible I've never given it a second watch.
Same, the fourth might be my favorite even though the first two were like childhood mainstays and the third is solid.
