I wish more people cared about the natural world as much as you do. I think your nature explorations are my favorite vids; I love seeing Croatia through your eyes!
Ha, I always think about that watching Survivor Man. He sets the camera up and films himself climbing down a rock face or something and I always think, "Now he has to climb right back up to get the camera and then climb back down again."
Charlie Harper yeah I love it when he gives up on some cameras... on some episodes he left some cameras behind for the crew to go back and pick it up.... I would do that all the time.
I think my favorite thing about your channel is how much you share with us about your homeland. I knew very little about Croatia before watching your vids (and still do really) but I'm learning and seeing more of your beautiful country the more I watch and that's as exciting to me as the animals on your channel. Thanks for all the hard work you clearly put into your videos. I appreciate it.
It's wonderful you still have your desert! I live in nebraska in the US and the west part of our state basically looks like this. The sand is about 2 inches below the grass fields peeking out in hills in places. I have ant lions in my flower garden. Very cool to watch! We have a very endangered beatle here that's only found by our Salt Creek. Our state was once an ocean and that is why we have so much sand. Maybe your situation there as well. You can actually find fossilized coral in one of our state parks.
Like always great video! Fantastic place - very sad no one cares about the beautiful places nature gave us :/ but we need to enjoy the moments while they are still here like You said. Also great song. Video was kind of National Geo style really if You would have more equipment and things You could do even more amazing stuff believed in You since beginning Petko - keep up the fantastic job! Give us more and longer vids :) PS: You killed me with the gypsys :P
"Enjoy the moments. " Your attitude is great, I admire your enthusiasm, and your love for animals really does shine through on your videos and channel. Great to see someone so passionate. Have a great Fth13th
I use this channel to educate my arachnaphobic girlfriend, in the hopes she'll one day conquer her fears! She's come along way and doesn't scream and climb on the table when one is in the house anymore so i guess you could say its working xD. Big personal fan of your videos man! Hoping to see more of devil soon, keep up the great content! :)
"there's a reason why this is a dessert.... that I don't know" I'm crying XD also how did you manage to post it on Sunday! oh god! dat sticker is rad ;) also the rant was perfect ahahaha yes we need more people to be aware love the video especially when you show how the antlion dig and the wasp dig your expeditions are my favorite hopefully one day you can travel around the world ;)
I visited Croatia for two weeks five years ago, it is in my opinion the most perfect place in all of Europe, it's beautiful, perfect and natural. I hope whatever happens to Europe In these Scary times that Croatia stays as it is, it's a wonderful place and I hope it Keep it's identity and beauty for hundreds of years to come
Waking up to your videos is always great. :') And Croatia is such a beautiful country, when we were there all we saw though were a looooot of lizards on the stone walls, and some cats that didn't seem to like us very much. Oh, and of course fish, especially when we went to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Fish everywhere, but not one spider in two weeks.
I'm excited to see that small desert. I actually have one of those where I live. I live in Maine, eastern US, and we have a place called the "Desert of Maine" and it's a bit of a tourist attraction up here. Altogether it is probably less than a half a square mile, so quite small as well, and like yours, getting smaller all the time. Experts say it will probably be gone within 20 years. On the tour we took, they said that back in the early 1900's, a young man took the land and started farming vegetables on it, but he only farmed the most profitable vegetables, so he didn't properly rotate the crops to keep the soil rich and healthy, and in doing so, created a dry sandy oasis, that looks and feels like an actual desert. It's even 10-20 degrees hotter out on the desert than it is on the bordering wooded areas. You are correct about one thing, unique places like those need to be cared for and preserved. Enjoy them while you can.
Dobar video brate, svidjaju mi se tvoji video snimci! Mi Balkanci samo unistavamo I radimo protiv sebe, tako da ne cudi sto tako specijalno mesto trune. Klasicna prica. Srdacan pozdrav iz Srbije, odlican kanal!
Im from California. I LIVE in those kinda places! AZUSA, is my hometown, we have the AZUSA canyon. Now, im in San Diego county. Lakeside, surrounded by sands, rocks, sagebrush, rattlesnakes. I just LOVE that kinda area!
You are one very fascinating young man. Even though I am terrified of spiders, your true love for all of God's little creatures makes me so happy. I enjoy every single video, and often watch them several times. HAVE A Blessed Day And Enjoy Your Little critters.
"Gypsies are near, better put my camera away so they don't get any ideas" same problem here in Houston Texas of all places man :( people suck all around the world
Lol the butterfly was laying eggs when you picked her up. This was a great video. I love to see the different life out in nature around the world. Thank you for sharing!
I live in an overly populated country (old world) and I feel so relaxed to see this quiet and peaceful place. Btw, this channel is the reason why I'm deciding to get my first tarantula. Keep up the good work :)
Čoveče svaka ti čast.Bas sam srecan stoneko sa ovih prostora snima ovakve stvari.Stvarno pokazujes koliko je tvoja drzava lepa a koliko materialiste ne brinu za nju!Samo nastavi
Thanks for sharing your beautiful country with us. It's great to be drawn into your passion for the natural world too. I really enjoyed watching this video. Keep it up!
Really loved this video! Especially loved the little speech things you did for the animals, like the ant and the lizards. Those were really funny! Sorry to hear about how this part of Croatia is waning away! But I think it's awesome that you're spending time there while you can and also spreading awareness and spreading the message! Keep up the great content!
Your videos make me really think about what is happening around me. Like when that ant eating insect was digging the hole and grabbed the ant.. it was amazing to watch, and I'm sure similar things are happening right in my backyard all day, every day and that never occurred to me. It makes me stop and think about it now when I'm outside.
Fantastic video, I loved seeing a little glimpse into your part of the world, I especially liked you showing the Ant lions up close, they are amazing little creatures, we get them here
“Ant lion” is the insect in the sand :) ... your videos are extremely inspiring. You’re fun to watch, and full of information. I learn about different animals, and more about different places in the world. I had to google Croatia because I was curious where it was located. (I’m in the United States) it can be tricky to remember all of the countries in different places, but I enjoy trying to fill in the gaps. I appreciate what you’re doing!
I know the problem with cool locations that slowly get destroyed and I feel you on that, but for me as a big city kid, there never was anything near me that was so beautiful, like your spot there! Greetings from Germany
I seem to love nature just as much as you do. Where you live is very beautiful. Nature is some that we really need to protect at any cost, but like you said the government is not going to care until the last minute when it may be to late cause they only worry about how they gonna get their next dollar. Keep up the great job!
awesome video! that location is gorgeous and it makes me miss home. I lived in Arizona for most of my life and a few years ago moved to Washington state. big change for me but it's gorgeous here so I make it work 😎. As always I enjoyed the video and I will be waiting for the next!!
Really interresting video. Love the arid area you visited. Thanx for showing all of us this fantastic location. I checked your town on Google maps. You live in a very beautiful part of Croatia. Take care my friend. 🤗🕷🇸🇪
I really enjoy your videos!! it looked like a fairly decent size desert, not as big as some but still neat that it is there. Hopefully they see the beauty in it and preserve what's left. You seem to care a lot for nature! :)
I am way late to the party, and I can't find it online, but this looks like a 'sand blow' (transliterated from Dutch, not sure of the English word). A desert is classified by a lack of precipitation (rain, dew, etc.), or generally dry conditions. In contrast, this is the result of wind "erosion", sand gets blow around so that vegetation can not get a hold and thus a sandy area, with the appearance of being dry, results. In the Netherlands, they are protected as well as historically they were considered bad (consider a few tons of sand being deposited on your freshly sown fields....) and thus severely reduced in area. But fear not, restoration is easy, find a place where they can occur, and strip all vegetation and top soil, and hope ... ;) Great video by the way!
I just found your channel about 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I have watched all of your videos already. I love what you are doing! It is really tempting me into getting a tarantula!
That animal in the hole in the sand is called Myrlejon on Swedish on english if I translate it Antlion. You are very fun so keep the good work up! Hugs, Susanne.
7:00 - I think it's called an „Antlion“. They build those little cone shaped holes in the sand where they are wait for prey (mostly ants thus the name) to fall in. Once they're in, they can't clime out again and they fall deeper and deeper until they reach the bottom where the antlion waits to grab then with those massive tongues (you see those pretty well if you look closer in the video). I know it's a 3 years old video but I got excited for recognizing a species. I'm usually not that knowledgeable in the field of zoology. :D Great work btw, I've been binging your videos the last few days! :-)
The animal making the holes in the sand is called an ant lion, we have some in the woods where I live in the northern part of Ontario in Canada, usually in sandy patches under birch trees. Although this may be a different subspecies seeing as it is in Europe. :) So cool they have some in Croatia as wellXD
At 7:00 i grew up calling them doodle bugs. Because if you take a small piece of grass and slowly drag it around the surface of the hole they will grab on and you can pull them out
Hey men, i realy, realy like what you are doing. And this even i'm not a spinnig-fan like you are. The big sand hole bug is an ant-bear so we called it in germany....and the wasp that made the hole would be called grave-wasp. Plesse give us more! You do a Very good job
When you sat down for a small talk / rant at about 5:30 , my cat stopped grooming herself and watched you intently. I am not sure if she likes you that much or really dislikes you, but you definitely caught her attention.
AWESOME VIDEO! Love to see more videos like this, its almost like having a tour guide that shows me something that's worth watching and listening to instead of putting me to sleep. hope to have a follow up video in search of the allusive Đurđevečki Peski. and id like to get some of your DARK DEN stickers for all of my T's tanks please let me know were I can get some of these!!!! shout out if possible :D
well please start with the selling of the merch! I will need about 100 stickers, 7 shirts on for each day of the week and a few hats or beanies.was even thinking of painting your logo on my wall
That is an Ant Lion @ 6:56 in the sand. It is a beetle larva of some kind. Jumping spiders are cool too they have more personality than most spiders. Cool video
Great vid. Too bad you couldn't find what you were looking for. I was still interested in learning about some of the wildlife you have in your country. My favourite animal you found had to be the jumping spider that mimics ants. Do you know what type of mimicry that jumping spider is utilizing?
That is not just classic Croatia, we over here in the States do the same thing and are speeding as fast as possible towards decimating everything that breathes, grows or can not survive without water. We only care about things when they are no longer there. I think it is human nature for those in power at least. Also we call that an "ant lion" or at least something very very similar. :)
Thanks so much for showing us what Croatia is really like. Nice! Out of your cool apartment, which is really nice, I must say, but I wonder how the ladies like your bugs? haha. When I was a kid I was totally fascinated by those holes in the sand, What made them? I thought it was a snake, so I never dug into find out! But yeah, I think they're common name is "ant loins". Great lizards, ours in Ca. are mostly brownish gray, some have a blue stripe under their belly if you are lucky. Thanks for the video!
It's an antlion. Which is actually in it's larvae state. It will develop into a fly. Sorta looks like a damselfly. We have them all over the US. Loved playing with them as a kid. They also flick sand when feeling threatened. After they eat they flick the dead bug from their hole. Love the adventure. P.s. tease their hole and see if sand will be flicked at you.
I love these adventure videos! You're so fearless, digging your hand without second thought in the sand... I hope one day to overcome my fear of insects to be as brave as you! XD
We call a similar thing mier leutjies in South Africa. It translates to ant lions. There one off my favorite insects and if I remember correctly we even have a nursery rym about them.
7:10 u pravu si Petko, "Antlion" se zovu. It throws sand on the prey that tries to escape from the dip they create. That sets whole sand in the motion creating an awalanche( sorry for bad english ) that brings prey(ants) back to the Antlions mouth. Its like a scene from a horror movie for ants.
"Enjoy the moments" Words to live by.
I wish more people cared about the natural world as much as you do. I think your nature explorations are my favorite vids; I love seeing Croatia through your eyes!
we are born from nature and we control our makers
exactly! I agree.
if i see the far away shots: walking away or riding, i always think like "now he has to walk back for his cam"
its still cool for scenery nontheless
Well, that's the price you pay to get shots like that xD
Ha, I always think about that watching Survivor Man. He sets the camera up and films himself climbing down a rock face or something and I always think, "Now he has to climb right back up to get the camera and then climb back down again."
The Dark Den - and you do produce some excellent footage / videos !
Charlie Harper Ikr
Charlie Harper yeah I love it when he gives up on some cameras... on some episodes he left some cameras behind for the crew to go back and pick it up.... I would do that all the time.
Oh, The Dark Den uploaded. My essay can wait.
Ben Moak That's exactly how I feel😃 He is definitely intelligent and entertaining!

"We are now getting closer to area where gypsies live... so i'll put camera in my backpack... i don't want to give them ideas"
Hahahahah
Good call
ApachePieman what did he mean when he said that?
@@chlordiazepoxide shut the fuck up romanians and gypsies are not the sames
/Yung x Razvan chill the f down, he meant Romalen, not Romanians
somehow I could feel that sentence due to I used to live also in Yugoslavia :D
I am beginning to appreciate creepy crawlies. .... ain't sayin I'm going to go look for one and hold it, but maybe I won't scream if I see one now. =D
Well done.
Raspberry Enwoo I like you as a friend
They are important to the ecosystem. Normally those types of bugs just mind their own business, even the poisonous ones

Great upload Petko. I love the nature trails here in the UK. But it is not very warm here.
Have a great day.
I seem to love nature just as much as you do. Where you live is very beautiful. Loved this video, now I want to go to the forest for a walk, and look for some tarantulas. Cheers from Guatemala!

We have those too in Florida, USA (@ 6:48. ) We call them Ant Lions. I use to catch them all the time when I was a kid.

Antlion is correct. Another awesome video! 👍😊

This was different but very fun. In Greece I've always found Eresus under and between rocks. Mabye try looking there next time ^^
No rocks over there, but thanks for the tip!
Excellent video!
Nice Music den👍I really, really, like your Videoosssss! I'm a fan😘
I love these adventure videos! You're so fearless, digging your hand without second thought in the sand... I hope one day to overcome my fear of insects to be as brave as you! XD
was really cool seeing some of Croatias wildlife
We call a similar thing mier leutjies in South Africa. It translates to ant lions. There one off my favorite insects and if I remember correctly we even have a nursery rym about them.
Ant lion. We have them in the states and are fun to watch. Love your channel more and more everyday.
I love videos like these you should do more videos on finding T’s in their natural habitat
