I like critical thinking doing something original . I like problem solving, logical thinking .i don't like physical work can you guide me please i am in 1st med school
Well, I want two specialties, dermatology, and plastic surgery, even though I'm currently majoring in Business Administration at my local community college in North Carolina and later transfer to Boston University for B.S./M.S. in Human Physiology major (if accepted). **So if I get my M.S. in Human Physiology will medical school be a lot easier considering that the M.S. courses (500-799 level) include Anatomy and Physiology I/II, Biostatistics, Molecular Biology I/II, and Physiological Literature?**
I ended up deciding on plastic surgery because, and its going to sound weird, but because of my love for sculpting. As a hobby i love ceramics and creating huge pieces like heads and bodies and things like that and for some reason i feel like that love for scultping comes out when im studying plastic surgery. 🤷🏿♀️ who woulda thought lol
Hi! How is your plastic surgeon journey going? Im in the same boat; someone whos into sculpting and also an interest in med. id love to know your input as fast as possible if you can, this is a choice i dont want to make lightly. 🙏🏻❤️
This is a great video! Thank you for sharing your story, it was insightful. I’m still in undergrad and I would like to become a plastic surgeon. I really love how plastic surgeons are like masters of the human anatomy and get to use a lot of creativity in most of their procedures. Just like me I see that you put a lot of creativity and time into your RUclips videos. It shows that you pay attention to details and care about design, those are already some good traits, so I know you’ll be a great plastic surgeon!
This kind of videos reminds me of why I want to study this. For a social circle of no one really knowing or liking the field of medicine but you, it is difficult to discover this kind of cool stuff like the case you did of the muscles. And this gives me courage to keep going.
when i joined medicine i thought i would like to be a cardiothoracic or a paediatric surgeon. However during my rotations like you said i fell in love with plastic surgery seeing the variety of surgeries that a plastic surgeon can do. I was inspired by the free flaps and with ostoplastic reconstruction of fingers. I was just in awe of the fact that this surgeon is creating a new finger with tissue from groin etc. never looked back since
That was really very good. Congrats on finding what was right for you. Many med. students don't realize how fascinating plastic and reconstructive surgery really is.

I just finished my first year of college and I'm transferring into nursing school this fall. A week before the year started I had a flare up of my Crohn's disease and ultimately arrived to college late. The whole first semester I would go back and forth between being sick and being okay and being sick again. It go so bad at one point where I thought I had to drop out and move back home 3 hours away. Luckily, I got better after my health hit rock bottom and got through midterms as well as the rest of the semester. After that period I started questioning my psychology major and what I wanted to do after school. I started thinking about nursing and being able to help patients like the how the nurses helped me the few weeks before college and as a kid when I was first diagnosed. I also thought that I would be left in a better position after 4 years with a BSN instead of an undergraduate psychology degree. Ultimately, I decided on applying to nursing schools over winter break and got accepted during the spring and now I start in just under two weeks. I'm not sure if I would want to work on a GI floor as a nurse later down the line or not, but nevertheless I'm happy with my decision and it was nice to find someone who made their decision on healthcare due to having Crohn's disease as well.

Ik this is a bit unrelated but I get what you’re saying about not being able to eat- I got a tonsillectomy a week ago and I’m still in horrible pain. Christmas was yesterday and as such my entire family was having a awesome Christmas dinner with my favorite foods and I had to sit there eating the one thing I could eat- cranberry sauce- which I couldn’t even taste because of the surgery. It really really sucks so I totally get that.

Hey Dr Jubbal! Thanks for the great and insightful video! Just wondering, could you share with us about your experience during your Orthopaedic medicine rotation you briefly mentioned? I'm a 1st year medical student who aspires to be an orthopaedic surgeon (just like you initially aspiring to be a Paediatric Gastroenterologist), and I was wondering if it would be the right fit for me. Thank you so much! Cheers
Orthopedic surgery is great but it's quite crude. I like the meticulousness and precision of plastic surgery. It fits my personality more. Orthopedics was fun and I could see myself doing it, but ultimately plastics had a much stronger draw for me.
I went to a school that was world-famous for producing great orthopedic surgeons. The professors were outstanding but the first time I participated in an amputation and sawed through a patient's bones, I was pretty sure it wasn't for me. You will learn what you yourself find appealing.
Hi , Dr.Kevin, I have just seen your channel by chance and enjoy it. I am a second year resident in pediatric surgery , it is also amazing specialty like plastic surgery. We operate lots of various cases. Burn treatment is common for both of us and I think burn cases are the worst patients I have ever seen but helping them is really satisfactory.what do you think about that issue??
Hi, Dr. Jubbal! I'm currently a 500L Medical Student, studying in Nigeria. I love drawing and working with my hands in my free time That's why I've recently begun to gravitate towards Reconstructive surgery in particular within the plastic surgery field. Basically, drawing is what I love doing in my free time, and all through my free time in secondary school (aka high school in the US) what I did was to use cartons to construct toys and innovations that were coming to my mind. But based on my parents advice, I gained admission to study Medicine instead of Engineering. Pls what can I do within this time as I'm due to graduate from Medical School next year (June 2023) to know if plastic surgery would be good for me.
Me too. I enjoy philosophy and art. I love reading about God. But there are times I got confused about my major. Now I am a nurse assistant and I feel I want to take more chemistry courses. I am going to nursing school but I need two more chemistry courses. I love nutrition and I am sort like a psychologist and teacher. I like nursing profession. I like family medicine or emergency medicine so if I go to medical school, I would do that. So when I become a RN, I can go to Nurse practitioner instead. (:
I'm in 3rd year of med school. I can feel what exactly you said. I also want to be in Plastic Surgery. Can you share the procedure for coming up to being a plastic surgeon?? I mean Exams or residency and recommendations??💫💫
Your faculty should be able to tell you all of those things and you can interact with practicing and practicing/academic surgical specialists whenever you wish...face to face! They are ALL there to help you.
NSGY is much more crude than you would expect brain surgery to be. I thought maybe I hadn’t seen enough of the precise stuff within the field. But when I spoke with neurosurgery attendings and residents on my rotation they confirmed its more crude than people expect. If you like precision and meticulous detail, go to plastics.

Can you do a video on career on clinical genetics... Pascale...work hours etc
I love drawing and working with my hands in my free time
That's why I've recently begun to gravitate towards Reconstructive surgery in particular within the plastic surgery field.
Thank you!
If he was still in college in 2009, how did he become a plastic surgeon by 2017? Was he still in the thick of residency at the time?
Undergrad takes 4 years then med school is another 4 years
Residency is 8 I think
Hey Dr. J,
Could you explain a litle more on why you did not like neurosurgery?
Poor outcomes, less meticulousness or as my neurosurgery chief describes it, “cruder than you’d expect”
Can you elaborate on what you didn’t like about neuro or what made you not choose it as a specialty? I thought It is also precise like plastics.
What didn't you like about neurosurgery? I just want an insight look, since I know neurosurgery a dream specialty like people perceive it to be.
I am ENT specialist life was getting hectic so I became a assistant professor
hi could you tell me if it is at all possible for an international graduate to get into plastic surgery residency with good usmle step 1&2 scores?what else will be required?
It's difficult but not impossible. I know a resident who did. Excellent board scores, research prowess, and knowing the right people all help.
Life of a Surgeon thank you
@@kevinjubbalmd hi, im really interested in plastic surgery and i am an international med student. How high should my boards scores be? Can you make an indepth video about the requirements. Qualifications that would give an international student hope of getting into plastics. Thank you
Your last name is in the Bible. Not spelled the same, but close enough. Thanks for the nice videos. From Texas.

Do you mind sharing your step 1 score?
I want to pick neurosurgery 😊
im really bad at chemistry how can i pursue surgery
Anh Trang It’s all about practice. If you don’t understand Chem, but for example, you are amazing at English, then spend less time on English, and more in Chemistry.
Get better!
Which uni did you study in?
All the other medical specialties videos are ehhh. This one is pretty good
so u r going to start your own practice
