- This video shows how to fix the AFS (bend lighting) error on a Volkswagen Golf 7.
NOTE: NEVER touch the glass of the halogen bulp, like I did in the video (even with clean washed hands). It can cause uneven heating due to the residue left behind on the glass
Thanks, it helps a lot, though it would be cool to mention what type of bulb it is, to get the proper replacement . Also, don't forget not to touch the glass of halogen bulbs with your bare fingers, as the heat will build-up on the bulb glass from the grease of your fingers, and shorten the lifespan of the bulb. I suppose it's not that bad on lights that aren't often on, though, such as these corner lights. You could use a clean rag or a tissue to manipulate the bulb.
@@JohannPascual i checked both sides. On these bulbs, it's easy to see when the filament is broken (and usually, the inside of the failed bulb has blackened). Maybe with a bit of luck you could see it in the reflectors... I think the lamp type was H7.
Heh, since i have been fixing older cars 90s-2005s and owned ones also, i kind of got confused what is bend lighting, and this video popped up first :D
Glad it helped you. I saw you mentioned the bulb type in this reply, to confirm, yes it is a H7 bulb.
Never ever touch halogen lamp with bare hands, use clean gloves or wipe the lamp glass with alcohol. Sweat and oily residue kills halogen lamps quickly because lamps are operating at nearly 200°C.

Excellent video & camera work in particular with the flash on. Other videos on here don’t go as close up when bulb is being replaced. Just waiting for my H7 bulbs to arrive tomorrow to replace AFS.

Looks easy. Just fyi don't touch the bulb with you hands. Oils from your fingers ruin the bulb's over time in xenon gas filled lights.

Hi - I’ve just had cornering light asf error pop up on my GTD. Both lights look as if they are out. Is this a matter of getting both replaced or is it more than a bulb being out?
Same here, on a gtd as well. Error popped up and regardless of what way I turn nothing! Did you fix? Just a change of bulbs?

Not sure if you guys need to still know or anyone in the future does but I have a similar issue and it was the control module that was broken that needed replaving

Just bought a new golf 7 R
I have the same issue.. Bend lightning error. I noticed when i steered my wheel right that the right light doesnt turn with the corner. I replaced the h7 lamp because my lamp was rip. Same orginal but still the error is on my car screen

I changed my bulbs and I don't have the AFS error anymore. However, the corner lights do not enable anymore. What could be the problem?
Glad the AFS error is gone. Regarding corner lights not working anymore, is the corner lighting setting switched on under your car settings?
Dean William Mills yeah I checked it. Everything is enabled. I disabled it and enabled it again, but no response. I installed Phillips H7 55W 3600K xenon bulbs. I don't think the ones before were xenon. Could this be the problem?

It's a H7 bulb. You should get it at any hardware shop that has a vehicle section. In South Africa it was R35 (ZAR)
