- 2009 VW Touareg dash message. No bend lighting (AFS) function. owners Man.
this one came with said message on the dash, owner stated it would clear than come back shortly after driving.
stated in addition to the message the bulb indicator light came on and stayed till vehicle was shut off, same cycle as message.
The presence of the Bulb indicator prompted the owner to check all the bulbs and all seemed ok and working?
he was right!! well except he missed the cornering bulbs that were not activated and tucked away out of plain sight.
with that said i thought well maybe this has some Value. Hope you enjoy

There was one thing I was looking forward to was that you showed the replacement bulb package or say the bulb type. What is the bulb type on this bend light? Excellent Video, nice job with explaining the process and showing how to. Also, thanks for the warnings of being careful and the fact that these plastic parts become brittle over time. Greatly appreciated, thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much! Simple directions, was able to replace both of mine in less than 10 minutes with your instructions. Nice just not to have the notification light on anymore.

It is not necessary to remove the three Torx T-20 screws and the lamp control module before unclipping and releasing the access panel on the back side of the headlamp housing. The access panel will unclip and release with the lamp control module mounted in situ to provide access to the bending lamp socket located in the interior of the headlamp housing.
The correct replacement bulb for the Volkswagen Touareg 2004-2010 T1-T2 bending lamp is an H7. The Sylvania H7 SilverStar ULTRA bulb is a good value replacement bulb for this application - long lasting, brite white bulb at reasonable price.
During new bulb installation DO NOT not touch the new lamp glass housing as oils on fingers/gloves will cause the new lamp to fail prematurely.
Anyone else's still not fixed after changing the bulbs?

Is the headlight unit transparent cover scratch resistant? Is it ok to rest it on the workbench, moving and turning the unit around doing the repair like it is in this video?
I wonder how many hundreds of hour of vaunted "German engineering" went into the design of that headlight assembly. There's something to be said for the simplicity of the old sealed beam headlights, as well as putting a couple of inches behind the housing so you can just reach in and swap the bulbs out in 5 minutes.
But hey, at least it wasn't a Cadillac and you didn't have to take the whole front fascia off to change the buib. :D
I can only imagine hundreds. good lots of good points, some other manufacturers put very little "after sales" engineering in comparison!

Question: I've replaced with a new bulb but the error message still pops up in dark places. However when i manually activate those lights from the panel in the car then they both lightens up.
So they are working only the car doesn't recognise the change. Any advice how to fix this? Thanks
I am facing the same problem. Did you fix it?
@edgj4718 If I remember correctly I had to go to a car workshop and get it fixed. In my case they had to rewire the cables how they were connected to another correct way also they reset the computer inside the car with a specific tool and it went away. I'm not sure if this is the same for you but I recommend you go to a car workshop and explain the issue you are experiencing and hopefully they can find the problem and fix it. Good luck!
Great thought went into the headlight design for removal. I was expecting you to have to remove the bumper.

i have the same light comming on but both bulbs are good ,i have no levelling or lights which turn as i move the steering its a tiguan 2010 any ideas ?

Dude learn how the VAG plugs work, push them in then pred the tab, don’t just pull on the tab this is how they break

robinsonsauto The Tucker automobile. Was supposed to have a third headlight, and the headlights followed the steering wheel, to accommodate seeing around curves at night! Of course, the big three did a lot to eliminate such exciting competition. I wonder what a man like Tucker could accomplish in these days and times??? Ahhh, the good ole days!! And I mean further back than last year!! Hehehehehe

(AFS) "adaptive frontlight system" is based off that concept, after the repair I had tammy start the vehicle if you watch close you will see the actual headlight mechanism inside the housing auto adjust, complex system. there a few good video demonstrations out there.
