I definitely feel like I was over moisturizing my hair in the past few months. I was doing wash and gos and deep conditions multiple times a week, and my hair really didn't need that much moisture. It feels so much better and stronger now that I started stretching the time between wash days and just letting my hair be. I also trimmed off some scraggly ends and my hair is feeling so much fuller and healthier!
Happy to see you back, Julz 😊 Thank you so very much for this truly helpful breakdown... and you look gorgeous as always, with very shiny, smooth curls in your hair! Appreciate you, Sis! 🌷🖤xo
I think the best thing i stopped doing was deep conditioning for hours and hours. After I stopped that I stopped having to reach for a strong protein treatment to stop that gummy feeling on my hair that came afterwards. Had a better balance overall. And yes, you're right, using actually black made products or at least products that are made for our texture made the difference. Yes if I was using a suave, hours and hours were somehow necessary but a product that is made for my texture actually only needed that 15-30 mins.
Welcome back! I wish u the best with ur journey, I'm also on a new on myself smdh. Tryna figure out my hair and what I'm doin wrong because like u I use great products as well but I'm not seeing the length tht I should
I just learned that spraying water on the hair is damaging... I used to tie my hair in a wet bandana in summer to stay cool! Hope I live in an apartment with AC this summer 🤩👏

They make white stickers w holes u can put over your drain in the shower to catch the hair. I got mine from a Japanese store but I'm sure Amazon or eBay would sell them. They peel off easily. OXO also makes a drain cover that goes over your drain. I use both the OXO over the stickers bc I have a crap ton of hair that would cause some major blockage if I didn't catch it. Either might help u in the shower w/ the hair & drain sitch.
Wow this was so helpful. My curls have become looser and looser over time, my roots are practically straight for a couple inches down till it finally starts to curl. And I am so guilty of rewetting my hair everyday to perfect my wash and go. And my hair is babbbbyy fine. So I always felt like I needed to redo the wash and go or else my hair would really stretch out on day 2 and 3. I just got a bob yesterday, and am totally revamping my routine. My stylist said she thinks I'm a rare case of someone who can get away without using a rinse out conditioner and just shampoo, and do a leave in. I'm totally gonna start using less styling products as well. Today, I'm planning on doing the Aphogee 2 step treatment, and the Apogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer as my leave in. Hopefully that will help with the moisture overload, and I'll be able to get more days out of my hair before rewetting again!
No! I never overdue my deep conditioning process. I cannot wash my hair in the sink I have too much hair for that. 😆 I learned to do my hair in sections too.

Also I've noticed so much excessive shedding and fall out with my old routine!!!! Thank god this is all making sense now.
Did the Apogee products work?
