Thank you, this is actually what happened to my hair. I have low porosity hair and it has always taken a long time to dry, days in fact. I went natural in 2014 and at first everything was wonderful. Everyone said moisture moisture moisture, so that is what I did. And because I am low porosity they told me to stay away from protein and I did. It was fine at first. I am not a person who spends a lot of time on my hair. I like quick and easy. So I did not notice at first what was happening. The first thing I notice was my hair was less curly, but I thought this was because my hair was so long, it was passed my shoulder blades. Then it started to full out by the handfuls. I really should be bald headed but my hair was always super thick. The more moisture I added the worst it got. When I finally realize I need protein and started protein treatments it was too late. My hair was extremely damaged. It basically had not curly and was very thin and weak. I have since cut it super short and working to get my density back. It has been a long road, and still I have a spot that is taking much longer to recover. Thank you for explaining what happened with moisture overload. I now have a better understanding of what happened and how to avoid it in the future.
Thank you! My hair became so elastic that I ended up cutting it. I thought cutting it short would be enough to bring my curls back, but now I know what to do.
that's wild, my hair thrives with water. the healthiest my hair had ever been was when I was doing wash n gos daily, I had zero breakage and it got so full and thick, but I was ultimately tired of constantly wetting my hair so I stopped 😭

This is actually the opposite issue, when your hair is not retaining water properly. This happened to me when I first started taking care of my hair because it was so damaged from flat-ironing and blow drying. It was able to retain more moisture over time with proper care.
it depends on what hair type you have & the porosity if your hair. i have high porosity hair so it NEEDS lots of water. For me there is no such thing as water damage 😂

it definitely happens I think people just don’t notice. This has happened to several of my friends with type for hair . they deep condition over night and find broken off pieces
You can tell with type 4 hair. Type 4 is the strongest so when it starts to look stringy and too soft that's an moisture overload. It feels mushy & weak
I’m thinking the problem is too much water on the actual hair not the scalp. I’m also thinking that part of the reason we bald is due to dehydration of the scalp.
I wash it Put leave in / wet it Braid it Take the braids out Comb it & do a protect style I do this every week I have no problem. Speaking of protein I got to do my deep condition treatment this week 😅
I used to stretch my wash day to a wash week. Basically I would soak my hair everyday for a few consecutive days thoughout a week. My hair strands started looking really thick and feeling heavy when wet. And when I style my hair the curl wouldn't from easily. Now that I stopped this method, the hair strands started breaking when they dry out. And I am using henna treatment against this and it's helping. So basically don't shampoo your hair one day, then deep condition the next, them rewet to style the next day. Just have one wash day where u also style the hair directly after the shower. And don't leave your deep moisturiser for more than one hour, unless it's a treatment and needs to stay longer. Like henna treatment that needs to stay 3 to 6 hours (the longer the better ).
Would you recommend one’s hair be damp or soaking wet when doing a wash n go? Does it damage the hair to apply products on soaking wet hair or should we take some of that water out before applying the leave-in and stylers?
Genuine question. When in the shower should I put a hair cap on to avoid wetting my hair and only wet it when I wash it (once a week)? Or should I just let my hair down. When my hair is wet, it’s naturally wavy/straight hair so I don’t know if this applies to Hispanic hair as well
do you think should i avoid spraying water over my hair before brushing? because i spray water my hair before i brush it. please clarify it when answering me and tell me what should i do to remove breakage during brushing also i do have low porosity hair so how often should i use a protein? please make sure that your idea is best and really works also non harmful.
I reccoment finger detangling when it's wet. If you want you can also buy a wide tooth comb which prevents breakage. Do a protein treatment once a month I reccomend you do the rice water method which you can do twice a month if you decide to do that method.
