NEW VIDEO: What improvements come with the Nikon D5300 compared to the D5200? Find out in this head to head spec comparison. Enjoy and do hit that thumbs up button for me :-) #NikonD5300 #D5300 #Nikon
Good, thorough comparison. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for posting. And I didn't think you spoke too fast like some commenters said. In fact, I prefer it compared to some reviewers that take forever to say something.
faster? slower, please! english is not my mother tongue but usually I have no problems understanding fast english. but this really hard to follow, so please speak slower!
Great Review! I dont mind the fast talk since im not a slow thinker, and understood you perfectly, I am thinking of selling my 5200 for a 5300 though and you helped with the decision. Thanks again.
I think people should slow down telling this guy to slow down ! Good video and got his information right which essentially is what counts and takes research by him so he gets it right. Well done.
Bought the D5200. It's a huge upgrade over the D5100 but the D5300 is not a huge upgrade over the D5200. Don't get me wrong i want the D5300 but on the used market it's almost $200 more.
Well i intend to buy my first DSLR and since the D5300 just lounched ia wasn't sure which one to get. After you comparison i have decided that the differences between them are small from a begginer's point of view and i will try to get a good price for the D5200. So thanks for this video!
it was very helpful......I have a Olympus pen e-p3 as per now and planning to buy a dslr probably Nikon so I was confused whether to buy Nikon D5300 or Nikon D5200??????
Thanks for the great review. I think you are reading from a script and hurry through it. Your speech is not up to your speedy presentation, but I understood everything. Great suggestion on when to buy also.
Just an advice, Slow down a bit. I missed many important details and had to go back a few times to get exactly what you wanted to say. I wouldn't mind to watch a 30 minutes video (if needed) that helps me choose the right investment. It would be totally worth it. You make excellent videos. Just take note on your speech speed.
Hey dude, I'm going to buy either the D5200 or 5300, price difference of about CA$200. it seems as if they're exactly the same despite the price difference! This will be my first DSLR I would've purchased and I'm looking to get into quite a bit of photography over the years. What are your thoughts buddy? Great video by the way.
Very good video, although I would recommend to slow down, specially on this kind of video that has so many numbers and specs, cause sometimes it's really hard to understand what you say cause of the speed and accent, but overall, great info video, thank you.
i wish u make video review for both cameras in video recording i want to know both of them are the same in ( audio quality in recording videos or d5300 is better than d 5200 in the quality of audio in video recording)
Great information. I am confused on which DSLR to buy as a first camera for me. As a beginner, is it better to get a camera with optical low pass filter or no? how would it affect the images? thank you.
+lewis smith Progressive (the "p" in 1080p) is pretty much what you'd expect it to be. The frames are just still images that are shot/played at your given frame rate. Interlacing, however, is a technique used to create the illusion of more frames. It essentially divides one image into two frames, which turns 30 fps into 60 fps without slowing it down (imagine splitting an image into a bunch of really, really small horizontal lines and then taking every other line and creating a second frame of it). When played at 60 frames per second, it looks a lot smoother than 30 fps, as the brain can't really process the images fast enough to see the lines. But, if you were to pause or slow the video down, they are definitely visible and quite annoying (unless you do some intense deinterlacing). So, progressive is definitely the way to go for most users. Note that the D5200 *will* record 1080p at 24, 25 and 30 fps. It's just the x1080 resolution that's limited to interlacing, so you can do 720p 50/60 fps,. For normal shoots, 60 fps can be a bit excessive and the lack of motion blur can even be kind of jarring for some viewers. Movies generally play at 24 fps. It's popular amongst RUclips gaming channels, though, and it has the ability to make nature shots look absolutely stunning. Not to mention that you can slow down the footage to 30 fps and get some awesome looking slow-mo shots. So, it is a nice feature, but it won't necessarily be worth the extra $100- $150. Here's tip, because people tend to ask this a lot : in order to access the 25 and 50 fps speeds, you need to set the video mode to PAL. European version are usually pre-configured to PAL, so if you want to utilize 30 and 60 fps, set it to NTSC. Both these cameras have the luxury of being able to choose between them, so choose what you think works best. Don't forget to set the anti-flicker accordingly (60 hz for NTSC and 50 Hz for PAL).
hi how are you i wish you are good i want to ask about somethings affect on my choice 1: the iso is it better in d5300 although bot of them are expandebale to 25600? 2: the filter you talked about is important or not ? 3: the number of points in the stereo mic the more i have the best sound i get This choice sings about buying additional external stereo microphone? 4: which one you recommend for me as i am beginner in dslr world i have 2 options 1: buying d5200 with 18-105 then buying me1 microphone 2: buying d5300 with 18-55
Hi, my name is ALINE , and am using my son's account at the moment . I have the Nikon d5100 with 3 extra batteries so I'm wondering if I upgrade to the d5300 can I still use the old batteries in the new camera or do I have to buy different ones . Many thanks .
Love your reviews. You didn't mention the D5300 having built-in GPS. Is this not true? According to Nikon's D5300 page it comes with GPS built-in. Unsure of what its accuracy will be until it actually comes out though.
Thanks for the comparison! I'm thinking of getting to D5300 to improve the quality of my RUclips videos so this definitely helped. What camera do you shoot with?
YAY. Was going to pick up a d5200 in January, but I guess I shall pick this one up instead. Any idea how long it takes for prices to start creeping down?
When shooting multiple images on my nikon d5300 for HDR and load then in photomatics after processing and during tonemapping I get a purple tint ...any problem with my camera
Sajjad Al-Lawati no problem, you should white balance again with in this particular light situation, use active d lighting give you sharp image and more detail and enable hdr high dynamic range on your camera
I'm not realy sure if the D5300 is superior to the D5200. According to some reviews is has significantky more noise at low ISO (100 - 1600) JPEG and inTIFF images are worse both at noise and dynamic range. looking to buy my first dslr, is the d5200 better than the d3300? I definitely like the flip out screen.
Thank you for not waffling on and on and getting right to the point with what we came here to see!
Thanks for the review! In Summary:
D5300 -

Well, you are right. I could have waited for the Nikon D5300 to enjoy the extra features. Anyway, no regret since the D5200 is great!
Will try if I get time buddy, was on my list but i needed to sleep lol
Not to worry mate, it's a great DSLR
Great info. Can you get a comparison of 1080p 60fps video from Nikon D5300 and Panasonic X920?
Thanks that was very helpful, could you tell us any more about the movie mode, can you adjust rolling shutter and aperture whist recording?
What's the difference with 1080i and 1080p.... What's does interlaced mean???????

Yeah, these DSLRs take a while to learn the features. There is a school called NYIP.edu which specializes in photography.
