Great video, Thanks for the comparison. I have the D5100 and the D5600. I am very happy with the D5100 still even though I own the D5600 which is awesome. I own some Cannon camera too. But for Photo I love my Nikon's. Peace Love GOD Bless
I found your video on an Amazon page while trying to decide on a Nikon for my retirement hobby. I was fully impressed with the guy doing the voiceover and the incredible amount of detail on the various specifications of each camera. Very well done!
Thanks Rajasekaran. 😁 Yes, you can still use D5100 unless you want some extra features like touch screen, Wireless connectivity, more ISO range, etc. For general photography and videography, D5100 can serve your purpose. We would recommend spending on accessories like tripod and different lenses (if required).
I really like the review but you show the wrong cameras in the video. For instance at 1:23 the screens do not flip out in such a way. It gives the wrong impression to people not knowing the difference.
Thank you for pointing it out, we really appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately we noticed it quite late so we are unable to redo that particular portion. But we can assure you that we will keep better vigilance in the future. Thank you so much for your support :)
Paying almost $100 more you will get D5500's successor Nikon D5600 with improved specs and if you want it's direct competitor in other brands then Canon EOS Rebel SL2/Canon EOS 200D would be better.
You should go for D5500 because it has Maximized detail, Better image quality, Better low-light sensitivity, Larger screen, Longer lasting Battery. It gets more shots (820 versus 650) out of a single battery charge.
We are very happy to help you. 😄😄😄 Please feel free to ask for help. We will try our level best to give our opinions and help you. If you want us to do any comparison video then don't forget to tell us. If possible we will do the same as soon as we can. 😊
Did you mean a shotgun mic? If yes, then you can definitely use a shotgun mic on D5300. Rode Shotgun mic would be best for D5300 as most people said that in-build mic is little bit noisy for shooting videos.
Thank you so much for asking. :) And yes you can add pop effect on your D5200. Reference : imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d5200/features03.htm We hope we could help. :D
Did you mean the D5500's Colour Pop mode? We are sorry to say, you cannot do that in your D5200. We thought that you wanted image popping that is done through selective colour or sketch. But to pop colours in the whole colour picture, you can simply use GIMP or Photoshop to pop specific colours in your raw photo. This way you can select multiple colours to saturate without having to alter anything in the whole image, because the Pop Effect in D5500 is nothing but oversaturation of a specific colour in the whole colour image. And GIMP is a free software that works very closely as Photoshop without being too heavy in size and you can easily get to learn it as it has a huge user base because of it's no cost availability. We are so sorry for the miscommunication and we hope we were able to clarify it. Thank you so much for understanding.
Both Nokin D5300 and D5500 share some common specs but as D5500 is successor to D5300, D5500 has some improvements over D5300. D5500 has a touch screen display, twice the ISO Range for better low light photography and dim light shots which you need, more shots with better battery, light weight and better low light ISO which gives better details and sharp image in low light. As you don't have any budget problem we would strongly recommend D5500 with accessories and Kit lens.. Hope our reply will help you to choose the best. If you still have nay queries please feel free to ask us again! :)
We are glad you liked our video. :) Among these 4 DSLR if you can afford D5300 then it would be better as it has some specs upgrade over D5200. But as you just mentioned for perfect photos, we would strongly advice you to spend your money on accessories like Kit lens, tripod, etc for taking better shots. If you have tight budget and can afford D5300 then we would advice you to take D5200 instead and spend remaining on accessories. Because a camera with perfect accessories can take better shots than a camera with better specs. We didn't mentioned D5500 as it's price is too high and D5300 meets all the basic requirements of a photographer.
QATNIP thank you very much ! Can accesories do the difference all the time ? For exemple if i buy the Coolpix P900 and i would like to get the same quality of the D5300 is that possible?
If you have proper equipment and accessories with D5300 and on the other hand, you shoot your photo/video with no accessories on P900 then D5300 would definitely give you better results. While purchasing a DSLR everyone should always keep in mind that they always buy proper accessories as we just mentioned. But most people don't.. So they sometimes end up blaming one of the best cameras in the market. Whichever brand you purchase, save some money for kits! And yes, accessories do the difference most of the times.
If you have budget of around 40K then among these 4 DSLRs Nikon D5200 would be the one you should go for in 2018. If you can increase your budget a little bit more then Nikon D5300 would be best with incremental upgrades over Nikon D5200. And spend rest of your budget on accessories to make your photography better.
If you want a good entry level camera mainly for vloging purposes then we you should purchase a better compact cameras. DSLRs are really very bulky for vloging and are not handy while moving from place to place. If you really want a DSLR and D5300 is in your budget then it is one of the best irrespective of it's bulkiness. For cover video D5300 would be best among all others. We would advice you to spend extra bucks on it's accessories to make your videos more appealing to your viewers.
Just bought one few months ago and it's great got some excellent photos. Got a sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 lens and I think works great with it. Just look around frist because for few extra bucks you can get a higher model one for not much more.
Great comparisons video. However I did have to rewatch a few things again because you were jumping all over the place between the different models and sometimes the video image wasn’t the model you were talking about at the time, which made it slightly difficult to follow. Talk slower and don’t jump around between the models so much.
We are so sorry for being so naive and troublesome. I talked a bit fast for making the video as short as possible as people usually don't like long videos and we wanted to cover all the points. Viewers tend to skip over videos if they appear too long and we really did make the model mismatch that we noticed quite late and we apologise wholeheartedly and can only ask for another chance to rectify ourselves.
If you haven't already bought it then don't buy it!! It has some troubles that many has reviewed. Spend your money on the D5300 or D5500 for the touchscreen and a few more scene upgrades!
If you compare D5300 & D5500 over specs they have, both have almost similar specs but D5500 is a clear winner here as it has some advantages over D5300. D5500 has ISO range upto 25,000 range over 12,800 on D5300. So it gives better low light photography experience with 1438 Low Light ISO performance. Also there are many more advantages such as touch screen display, light weight, high color depth, 820 shots battery life vs 600 shots on D5300, etc. Considering there points D5500 is a clear winner. But not to mention, D5500 costs alomost $100-$150 more than D5300. So in terms of price to performance ratio D5300 is a good choice if you are on a tight budget. We hope, we can make it clear to you. Further, if you have anymore doubts please feel free to as us again. We will try our level best to answer your question. Stay tuned with us. :)
If you are looking for a budget DSLR with all basic features a DSLR should have then D5200 is what you are looking for. If you can spend a bit more, then we would recommend you to spend it on the accessories for your D5200 such as lens, tripod, etc to make your videos and photos professional. If you want a DSLR with latest specs and features than D5200, then D5300 would be better as an entry level DSLR. D5300 comes with Expeed 4 processor, 25,600 ISO range and better battery life. As we said earlier if your budget is not too high then D5200 with accessories would be a great choice in 2018. If you are confused between entry level DSLR in the market then wait for our next video on this. We hope it would definitely help you.
QATNIP ok I will wait Btw In My country D5200 price is 488$ So can I buy it for learning Photography? It will be my first DSlR camera I need proper suggestion. Btw I am choosing it bcz It has Flip screen Thanks for the comment. Hopefully you will ans me Can You suggest other camera or model with this budget (450-480) With flip screen
We were searching for best DSLR Cameras available in the market right now. Among them we have found some which has better specs than D5200 in terms of ISO range and features but mostl of them has fixed screen which doesn't fulfill your requirement. And few other DSLR with Flip screen and good features are more costlier than D5200 and out of your budget range. So at last we found out that D5200 is best for your, with all basic features for a beginner with Flip screen which is convenient for taking selfies and recording solo videos (such as RUclips videos and holiday trips). Later if you can afford then spend on lenses and other accessories as we have mentioned earlier. We hope we could help you this time. If you still have any doubts then you can watch our latest video on this. If you still have any doubts then feel free to ask.
+Nuwaira Abdallah D5200 doesn't come with a touch screen functionality. However it comes with a flip screen which could be handy most of the times among the budget DSLR's. It doesn't have in-build WiFi like other high budget DSLRs but the D5200 is compatible with the Wu-1a wireless adapter (as shown in the video). This optional extra allows images to be shared online to social networks or email systems via a smartphone or tablet.

Can I Buy Nikon d5200 In 2018?
If you are looking for a budget DSLR with all basic features a DSLR should have then D5200 is what you are looking for. If you can spend a bit more, then we would recommend you to spend it on the accessories for your D5200 such as lens, tripod, etc to make your videos and photos professional. If you want a DSLR with latest specs and features than D5200, then D5300 would be better as an entry level DSLR. D5300 comes with Expeed 4 processor, 25,600 ISO range and better battery life.
