I owned a Canon AE1 years ago but the cost and hassle of processing film got to be too much. I had the Nikon given to me 4 years ago, and was overwhelmed with the manual and literally only took a handful of photos and shelved it. Now getting back into camping I'm motivated to try this again. I recharged the batteries and searched RUclips and found your channel. I've learned more in 10 minutes than the hours with the manual. Thank you.

Yes, that is a definite convenience factor. I am a lifelong Nikon user, going back to the F film cameras, and I have a Nikon prejudice for sure, but I have been using the Fuji X100 for about a year and I am very partial to it. Were I to get something else today, I think it would be the Fuji XE1, even more than the X Pro 1 or these Nikon DSLRs. Aperture on the lens, shutter on top, just like the old days. It is just less fuss to adjust things on the fly and the lenses are second to none.

Matt, I've learned much from your videos and appreciate all your hard work. There is one thing I'd like to point out. During your presentation, you tend to speed up. At first you have a nice relaxed pace and there's time to take in the info, but toward the end of the video you're spitting things out so fast I cannot follow. This is totally natural for speakers and musicians, and keeping a steady pace can be difficult. Still, I wanted to bring it to your attention. Thanks for all your excellent videos.

It really depends if you are taking pictures inside or outside. Generally for sport you want a fast shutter speed, fully open aperture to let in as much light as possible, and a low ISO to prevent grainy images. You might also want to use continuous auto focus (AF-C)and Continuous L burst shutter mode to take multiple photos if you hold the shutter button down. Finally, you might want to use Dynamic-area AF (9 autofocus points).

Im not new to photography so im looking for something that will give me stunning quality and creative control but at the same time since this is my first dslr, i want it to be some what easy to use. Which one do you think i should get?

  • @eupraxis1

The D7000 has decreased in price to just below $900 body only; the D5200 is about $800 with kit lens. If one is paying more than $1000, you might as well save up for a D600, in my opinion. But I am really looking at the Fuji EX1. I own a X100 now, and I am very impressed with it.
