God, i hope so. Ultimate Marvel Universe has some of my favorite runs. The new Spider-Man is absolute fucking fire.
Yeah. But Peter Parker died in that universe. So Miles could be Spider-Man. Which to me was kind of stupid. Though, killing Peter off is a better fate. Than what Marvel is doing now. Basically, bullying Peter.

They did that in the 60s w Barry Allen ! But then the continuities got too messy, so the tried to reboot the whole brand. They really should have just made an ultimate brand each time
Yeah but if they started doing that we'd have another issue eventually. They tried to work with what they had but now is probably the best time to tell new stories with new interpretations.
If they started doing it every 10 years, people would complain that there are too many universes and it takes away from the main one.

For the uninitiated all star (2000’s) and Earth one (2010’s) was DC’s first 2 tries at an “ultimate” esque imprint that both failed idk why Dan is saying it would be the first here
They failed because of dc purist. They are the most dog shit toxic group out there. They want the same status quo and bitch to high heaven when something new is done. And then they wonder why comic sales stagnate or manga out sales them
I’ve actually been hearing from various podcast, I’m in Scott’s writing class, and he’s discussed in some of those and in some interviews, that he has a lot of big superhero stuff coming, well in his words “big muscles” and action.

This is something DC has needed for a while.
Ether an ideas testing ground or somewhere with consistent narrative storytelling.
Love or hate the Marvel Ultimate universe, some of the storytelling (specifically all the ultimate spiderman titles) was tightly knit and well written.
I really the idea of an ultimate universe in dc as it allows writers to play around abit more while simultaneously having the regular universe with ideally a timeline and continuity that most people are happy with
I kinda doubt it because they wouldn’t need an Ultimate universe. Marvel’s Ultimate universe was created to be a place people can jump into without needing knowledge the writer trusts you would have. The only multiverse reset Marvel had was Secret Wars (2015), and DC is known too well about their’s.
I’m not saying they won’t do it or it wouldn’t be cool. I just doubt it, but it would be pretty cool.
Way more, Marvel has way more reboots
The endless cycle of have multiple universes, make new characters in them, now people want brand cohesion, merge them, now universes are contrived

I don't even know why they need one. Makes sense for Marvel because their mainline continuity has been the same throughout so the Ultimate would be new takes.
DC reboots their universe every few decades, so I don't see the point...
I think this is cool idea ,beacose we might get interesting versions of DC characters as it was in Ultimate Universe with Maker and Miles Morales.

That’s cool. I always felt like DC’s New52 should have been an alternate universe similar to Marvel’s Ultimate Universe rather than rebooting the universe as a whole
Honestly, I have been wanting DC to create an “ultimate” type universe for awhile. It would be a fun way to tell stories with a fresh start and a new perspective. Here’s hoping that if the Absolute World is true and that we get interesting stories which will also encourage the writers to make more solid, and well written, changes to the main DC universe.

Dc technically already has an ultimate universe, the earth one comics. It's not as expansive as the ultimate universe was. But it had the same goal of telling a story of an alternate version of the dc story while the main comic series was still running
If this is in fact, true than I really hope this turns out better than the actual Marvel Comics Ultimate Universe in the early 2000's since it gave us some of the most bizarre and down right disturbing takes on classic characters that, for the most part, tried to modernise a lot of heroes in the wrong way, except for Ultimate Spiderman since that was actually good
I wouldn't call what they did with Wanda and Pietro modernized. People should be banned from comics for that.

THE ONE PIECE IS REAL
If I remember correctly the creator of the White Knight series likes to view that universe as a kind of "Ultimate" universe. Even if he's only covered Batman (+ beyond, Harley, freeze) he's also on track to write a Superman comic so cool to see what he's got cooking. Even if it's not coming for a while.

I remember someone saying years ago that the All-Star label of comics were meant to be DC's answer to the Ultimate comics. Which I always found to be strange, and I'm actually not sure that's true.
I have mixed feelings about this, but it seems like people are excited, so that's nice.

I been saying since the new 52 started in 2011 it could’ve had so much more potential if they kept it as a alternate world away from the main continuity

One of the main things that drew people to Ultimate Marvel was that they initially had permadeath for characters, which added more weight to death there. But when they went overkill with the garbage arc that was Ultimatum and later ditched that rule altogether by reviving Ultimate Peter and having him still around so I dunno.
DC teased the potential of permadeath with the finale of Blackest Night....only to immediately revert that one story later in Brightest Day. I wonder if they actually would commit to that this time around with this side universe.
Have a goffy Silver age type world but when people die they stay dead. Immortal characters Like Vandale Savage will be cool here as there power matters.

All star Superman and all star Batman back in the day. Was supposed to be the beginning of a DC version of ultimate universe.
So let's see, we already got, All-Star DC and Earth One, unless they actually stick with this then its another ultimate type universe that wont survive for long.

The issue with DC is it's status quo.
This would allow for a universe going towards the status quo with another going away.

While I'm not sure how an 'Ultimate Superman' would work, I do see an 'Ultimate Wonder Woman' work where Themyscara works as an isekai type of situation, a Batman where he's more ninja like while a detective and an 'Ultimate Flash' where it's an high school version of the character.

If this is all real, I don't think Scott Snyder "got the idea / stole the idea" from a fan wiki. It might use the name name, but hell, he might have never heard about it before anyway.
It's like the current new Ultimate Universe line that started in Ultimate Invasion, the Earth designation is Earth-6160 but there was already a fanmade Earth-6160 project online a few years before Ultimate Invasion released. I doubt Jonathan Hickman knew about the 6160 fan project anyway. It's just pure coincidence.

Can’t wait to see WW flash her chest at a rampaging MM to distract him, the wonder twins having relations while their bio dad watches, deathstroke switches bodies with jaime reyes and hits on a underage girl, and it all ends with most of the characters dying in horrific, visceral ways before the universe ends.
Earth one and all star were already DC 's ultimate universes.
I hope this happens, just because I want to see flash and green lantern in a newer form.

DC has done parallel universes before. and theyve done more universal reboots than ANYBODY.
Would be cool if instead of just another universe it's another multiverse. They haven't touched the Omniverse since Dark Crisis. And that multiverse was dead. They haven't really touched it since then.

Ultimates was a separate run that tried to ground the marvel universe in more realism and darker stoy telling. It failed yes but the idea was phenomenal. Letting writers stay on characters for the longer haul for consistency and what no could make this idea really fix some issues
Maybe Golden Glider and Captain Cold will have an incestuous realtionship.

@@obsidianfrost9514yeah, the Ultimates started strong. It’s what got me back into comics for a while. It felt very fresh. The took some risks with the characters. It seemed to get generally good reviews. I don’t think it can be labeled a failure.

I think that eventually DC will revive the multiverse, although perhaps in a more limited context. It tried dropping it in the 80s but fans eventually forced them to bring it back. They like the idea of alternative story lines, such as a world where Superman is in love with Wonder Woman instead of Lois Lane. I am not a fan of Superman with a wife, especially not Lois, and child.
DC technically has their own version of the ultimate universe, It was called Earth One.
this universe had self-contained realistic retellings of their heroes origin stories, these retelling ranged from being just a modernized retelling for Wonder Woman reacting to the modern world in (her graphic novel came out in 2016) to a space odyssey of Green Lantern Hal Jordan being in space for over 10 years and finding the ring next to its deceased owner and learning that the Manhunters had wiped the Green Lantern Corp generations ago.
Now unfortunately the last Volume to come out was 3 years ago and while they were planning to make a series for the Flash and Aquaman they where cancelled with the whole series being abandoned shortly after with the last one to get published being Batman Earth one Vol.3
All together their are 13 volumes with the series covered being Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Teen Titans. If any of this intrigues you Comicstorian has covered some of the volumes on their Channel

I hope it’s better than the marvel, ultimate universe. It had some really good stories like Spider-Man, and some of X-Men but a lot of it was just awful.
Theres no point for an absolute universe with the way DC reboots its continuity every 10 years.
