I will try this. Previously, I did every solution playing original PS1 games, replacing the laser reader, cleaning the laser lense, etc.; however, I still would get the red screen of death error message.
Update: I bought the specific parts (capacitors) for the PS1 slim version of my console from Console5, used my testing and soldering tools, knowledge from RUclips and Google, and solved the issue. Everything back to normal. Finally, what a relief!

Helpful video, thanks. The issue with the rolling might be a cap as well, I had something similar with a newer LCD set which couldn't make it's mine up sometimes with old computers and consoles whether it was in PAL or SECAM(!) which I traced back to a 10uF electrolytic near the SCART socket.

I wonder if this is what is wrong with my PS One. It'll kind of detect an audio CD and play it briefly and cut out. I changed the entire optical deck for a working one and ruled that out as my issue. It also has a modchip in it that could be affecting it, but I wanna see if replacing the Cap will resolve the issue.

I dont know if this is the problem with my psone.
I replaced the lens and it worked fine for like 5 hours, then it suddenly stopped working while playing. I tweek the potenciometer, with no results.
I tried with an old lens i have, no results.
I went back to the first lens and it just worked again.... But again after like 2 or 3 hours it stopped working.
Now i can not make it work again, i do not think it is a faulty lens, it may be something on the board??
The spindle works and laser tries to read (while making an awful sound), but i can not figure it out what is the problem or what i did for it to work again after replacing lens... :(

Faulty capacitors can be heat sensitive, and so can other faulty parts. You can warm the board with a hair dryer and see if it make the fault appear, and if cooling down gets it work again. If is seems heat sensitive you can buy freeze spray to narrow down which part is the problem.

@@StevesElectronicRepairShop so after many tries it started to work again, just after making a plastic breaking like sound... So i inspected again and realized that the plastic dented piece that make the laser move was loose (it has 2 clips that lock on a metallic dented piece).
It was a cheap AliExpress lens (15 bucks) it came with that piece loose, after fixing it locking the clips on its place, it started to work great again up until this day.
Thanks for your video and response, luckily my problem was easier to fix!

Not once but twice i had a PS one like this from the same shop just stop working on me. I was playing a game tonight and died. Then the screen went black and nothing. Tires resetting the system, nothing. People make it seem like these srw more reliable than the old ones, but every old one I've ever owned has worked.

If they have enough hours on them they all fail. Going by mine failing, even just age on them takes out the capacitors.

@@StevesElectronicRepairShop i agree. i only want a slim because i live off grid, and these with the screen work great on a jackery. with the screen on the brightest setting and the volume cranked it uses 15 watts btw. but its nice to be able to have some sort of entertainment. would much prefer an older one though. i have the one with the red white and yellow jacks built right into it, and even it works if you flip it upside down. i bought it as a DOA. its kind of funny lol
