I love their dedication, you'd think that after releasing 8 albums they would eventually fall into mediocrity and drop in quality like it tends to happen with most artists and bands, but no, Metric keeps raising the bar with every album. Wish more people knew how amazing they are.
Many bands only have one record in them, and then they disagree on the direction and jump all over the place, destroying the process to the next great album.

Help I'm Alive was transcendental when I first heard it. Everything else was too and has been ever since 🤣 I don't understand

Saw them live this past september and holy fuck they know how to put on a show. Amazing vocals, mesmerizing bass, killer drums, and astronomic guitar. PSA to people seeing them live: Get tipsy to have the time of your life lol

I think I've seen Metric at least like 20 times a few times on purpose and also because they play like every festival in Canada. They always put on an amazing show, in fact I saw them with Deathcab for Cutie back in I think like 2015 general admission at the ACC. It was an amazing show I'll never forget that night.

I saw them years ago in Oakland and there was some mishap where their gear didn’t make it to the gig so it was just them two with a piano and a guitar and they pulled off their set beautifully.
I was there at NSSN right? That was so dope! They made it a special night.
I'd say Metric could sweep the 2023 Americana Awards with this, but they're Canadian.

I love how she knows her voice so well that she can use the cracks and other idiosyncrasies to her, and our, advantage.
She's been doing this a long time. She was a founding member of Broken Social Scene. A super group before the fact rather than the typical after.

metric played the dirt road renditions at the 2022 andy kim christmas last month! it sounded great emily and jimmy are so talented with just the guitar and mic live. kind of a shame they didn't get to join bss who was also there but bss played with shaye which was so rare and cool
