  • Happy Mardi Gras! We sat down with four of the original 78ers. These guys participated in Sydney’s first ever Mardi Gras back in 78, faced brutal police attacks and rallied together for a better future. Their actions completely changed the game for LGBTQIA+ rights in this country. Here’s Penny, David, Sandra and Robert on their story and their advice to young people today.

GBLTTIQ is good. The 78er's should be thanked for surviving that first Mardi Gras. Having said that I want to see a Free To Air GBLTTIQ Television Channel and a Naturist Nudist Television Channel.

Mardi Gras is basically 70% straight women, it's had it's day.

FYI I will be watching all the GBLTTIQ events this month because I think that more of them should exist.

I am a heterosexual man and I see the 78s as pioneers and warriors. These brave people stood up to the General public and authorities.
We now live in an inclusive society.
I do feel that these days it's going to far and today it's more about virtue signalling than the original context of acceptance.
I personally know of 7 gay men,9 lesbian and 2 trans women that have left the LGTBQ community because of the hypocrites.
It was pointed out to me that there was some trans women fighting with lesbians about who is a real women.
There is clear division in the LGTBQ community and for a community that promotes unity it's Ironic.
The war is over and it's time to put the guns away.

'Mardi Gras' is a traditional Christian celebration; it is abhorrent that these non productive things have hijacked the name.
