The key that unlocks this chaos is the woodwind. And they nail it. One of the most complex pieces of orchestral music ever written is superbly performed here. Brilliant.
One small piece of advice. Keep the applause and appreciation going on the upload until the end. It's important to show the youth of today watching that this music is still the best.
This is a splendid Rite. Who cares whether or not this one is the very best we've heard or not? There are so many of this piece that so easily fall flat. I hate saying it, but I am reminded too of some of Dohnanyi's best work with this orchestra and with Cleveland - a perfect rendition of the Stravinsky Violin Concerto wtih Gil Shaham and the NDR some nearly twenty years ago, for instance. I want to say that what got played here is the 1947 version, not the original version, but of course it has equal merit with the composer's original version.
17:20- That malfunctioning little twerp!! He tricked me into going this way!! But he will do no better!! Hey wait!! A transport!! I'm saved!! Help!! Over here!!
7:10 Praise the camera operator for this moment. Focuses on the correct people just right! First on the piccolo, establishing the main motif, then to the contrabassoon for its answer, then to horn which compliments the contrabassoon, and then back to contrabassoon again! I love contrabassoon
We are delighted that you like the work of our colleagues in the direction and on the camera so much. Thank you very much for the compliment - we are happy to pass it on to our colleagues!
How wonderful is Stravinsky's Music. Wow! This is an outstanding recording of The Rite of Spring. I know I haven't heard it played any better than this, and the conductor did a fantastic job in making the music come alive. Let me tell you, Stravinsky would have been very very proud of ths performance. Thank you so much for uploading this. All I can say is, I have enjoyed this immensely.
The Rite of Spring is a ballet and orchestral work by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. A masterpiece of musical energy, the composition shows an absolutely prodigious network of inventiveness. From the synthesis of all the musical elements operated by Stravinsky is born an aesthetic multiplicity which intensely privileges the acoustic effects and the dramatic force. « The sacral dance » (Allegro moderato), Act 2, Scene 6, is the culmination of the piece, the moment that illustrates the original idea of its composition, this dance where the brutal force of a symphony orchestra explodes, treated in a style revolutionary. The work which has exacerbated the chromaticism to the highest point, the harsh harmonies, the raw sonorities, are born from the creation of powerful instrumental blocks, that clash or complement each other, the richness of timbres of an enlarged orchestra as well as the use of playing modes that push the sounds to the extreme, emancipating the rhythmic and releasing the tonal harmony from its classico-romantic pivots. Stravinsky juxtaposes and accumulates his musical ideas in contrasting flows, which interact with each other and create a perpetual increase in the energy released, which will crystallize an innovative approach essential to the modernity of 20th century music. The celebrity of the work does not hesitate to make it one of the pillars of musical modernism. Phenomenal beauty! *Lucien*
Oh I was just teasing. The design is sure to provoke anybody who suffers from trypophobia though 😂 But in all seriousness, some stellar moments in this performance. The FILTHY trombones in the spring rounds is among the best interpretations I’ve ever heard!
Hi there! So, at this concert both our Principal Timpanist played. They are of the same rank and decide individually who plays which part. Have a beautiful day!
@@NDRKlassik Thank you for your prompt response. I remember this conductor being a former rank and file string player in the New York Philharmonic Orchestra?. If true he has transitioned well indeed. I play timpani in my Community Orchestra called the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra
Not the clapping after the first part! Wonderful recording. Best interpretation of Rite of Spring I've heard.
Wow thank you very much! We are very pleased that you like our work. 😍
Il brano più potente della musica classica! Strawinsky un fenomeno!

Yay!! Thank you, we appreciate your words!
Five stars to the producer, Nora Brandenburg. The best production of a classical music concert I have seen to date.
Thank you very much, we are very pleased. We hope that our colleague also reads your great compliment. ☺️

An excellent interpretation, clear and dynamic! The camera people follow the music very fine.
Happy to hear that you liked it! :)
perfect recording
Thank you! ☺️
What an excellent performance! And that is one humongous guiro.

ストラヴィンスキーの素晴らしい作曲だから、それなりの演奏になっているが、聴きところの無いごくごく普通の演奏でありますなぁ。
This is brilliant!
Thank you, much appreciated!!

Merci beaucoup!
Flutist Yeojin Han ! ❤❤❤

I noticed that the Principal Timpanist is playing the 2nd timpani part. Im guessing that his student is Solo Timpanist in this performance?

Notalar o kadar karmaşık ve kaotik ki, enstrümanistler, kendi bölümlerini çalacağı zaman karışan müzik yoğunluğu içinde nasıl şaşırmıyorlar?
Metronomic, where is the dymanism? Flat. Give me the Stravinsky or Boulez.
取り立て取り上げる演奏ではないですなぁ。
