For my particular point of view Paavo Järvi is the most gifted conductor for Buckner's symphonies , all of then are particularly estrange and wonderful at the same time , his music is not so much terrenal, it comes from the heaven as great cathedral of sonority to the earth , i love the nule symphony, the 2dn, the 3th , 4th, 7th,8th , 9th. Thanks NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, for such a wonderful concert
Perfectly said! This is 1000% true for myself, as well! Been that way ever since I did a 15-hour overnight solo road trip almost 10 years ago, and listened to the symphonies the whole way. I'm totally stealing this line! Also, truly stellar performance by this orchestra and Maestro Järvi. Much prefer the ending to the 1st movement in this version (think this is the 1877 vs 1872). Love that Bruckner brass, especially the horn section! Bravo!!
Good choice. Bruckner remains a mystery for many. Those of us that study composition may find a lifetime of enjoyment in studying the depths of his genius.
A magnificent work by this underrated composer, in his time, performed perfectly by the NDR under the baton of this remarkable maestro. Of all his 10 cataloged symphonies (including the Nullte Symphony), this is the one I appreciate most. One of the things I want to do before I die: hear this live.
I just watched this performance again. Having viewed the relatively few others of the Bruckner Second Symphony on YT, I conclude that this is the best available. Fine orchestra led by a fine, sympathetic conductor. I think almost everyone will agree that Paavo Jarvi is presently one of the top-notch conductors. His Beethoven is excellent. And so are his Bruckner interpretations, here and at the Frankfurt Radio Symphony. Thanks to NDR for archiving!

NDR is the place to be for world-class Bruckner! Really bracing performance! I have heard #2 live only once, with Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago S. O., later released as part of their LondonDecca boxed set. This audio-visual record from NDR is a testament to the high quality of the orchestra, which plays here so well for Paavo Jarvi. Thanks so much. Bravo!! Spasiba!! Dzieki!! Parabens a todos!!
I wish Bruckner's sympnony No. 2 would be performed in Japan. Even though it is in the 200th anniversary of his birth this year, only popular pieces such as No. 4, 7, 8 and 9 are repeatedly played at concerts here. I enjoy No.2 in NDR Klassic. Thank you.
I feel somewhat ashamed to say I've started to like Bruckner recently :) Regret those days I didn't enjoy his music 😢 Jarvi never dissappoints me and your orchestra is always marvelous!
. . . . . Bruckner is like a magician who solves the most difficult situations in the easiest way. Challenges are like fun for him that take some time to solve. Even in the most complex places in his works, we are not disturbed.
I told my wife: God created the world through B (Bereshit), and He was born in B (Bethlehem), so he seems to love it. And love it so much as to graciously show it by another trinitarian formation in Bach, Beethoven, and Bruckner. Schizo or profound, you call it. Anyway, it is just a humorous speculation about coincidences.
These performers hold unchallenged positions as interpreters of Bruckner This conductor is unrivaled by any other conductors This splendor of words can not attach it
The wonderfulness of Bruckner‘s symphonies is beyond description, and the world‘s lingua franca, and universe, and eternal
Recently discovered Bruckner as a composer and am enjoying the use of brass instruments in his symphonies!
Thanks for you comment. You can find more Bruckner recordings on our website:

Well, thank you for listening and this wonderful comment! 🤩
What a great performance! This made me realize that I have neglected this symphony. What a gem.
Thanks ✨
Love the moment at 44.15 when the second bassoonist looks at something ……. What made her smile ….
Bruckner's music has become the soundtrack to my life. ❤️
Beautiful! Sounds like a life truely worth living. :)
Soundtracks of my life are 3 B's : Beethoven, Bruckner, Bartok. Have a good night, Mr Daniel

More Bruckner more happiness
Love it!! 💞
True, more Bruckner more happiness. Also true, more Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Sainte Georges, more happiness.

Really enjoying these videos. It is a fabulous sounding orchestra and a shout out to the camerawork/direction which is first rate. Great stuff.

I have listened to this recording at least 10 times! German orchestras are unbeatable! Greeting from Munich.
Very happy that you enjoyed it!!
Exhilirating scherzo movement. Wunderbar!
Danke sehr! :)
Bruckner is one of the greatest souls of the west. Bach, Beethoven , Wagner and after them, Bruckner comes.
His most underrated Symphony, the Symphony of Pauses! Melodies aplenty.
Thanks for sharing! 🌟
I like paavo jervi's interpretation. Crystal clear and lively. Very nice. Thank you for uploading.
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Wanderful symphony

Thank you, much apppreciated! 😊 Some music needs some growing into, like an acquired taste. Certainly nothing to feel ashamed about!
Danke❤
Es ist uns eine große Freude!
IT SOUND,S VERY NUCE❤
Nice
Thank you, much appreciated!
Never seen this work performed before. Somewhat surprised by the meagre size of the orchestra. I always thought Bruckner employed a huge orchestra..
Yeah but only in his later symphonies...
Another Bruckner myth.. In his early symphonies the orchestra was quite small and all the better .
27:50 Benedictus 🙏
YES!!!

GREAT
Thanks!! :)
Good performance. I like the 3rd movement. Which version of the symphony is it?
Thank you for your nice comment and this is the 2nd version of the symphony from 1877.
28:58 violin 1 excerpt
I wonder why I don't listen to this symphony more often.
Feel free to come back again and again! 😊

Thankyou
your wonderful comment
From Tokyo where spring is in full swing
What happened at 41:30? It seems the conductor was disturbed by something.
