    I have an extremely fun Vial/Saka Clone tribal deck my pod hates and half the time I am cloning their best pieces instead of mine. If it were just to ignore the legend rule, Sakashima of a Thousand Faces is enough. I make maybe 1 or 2 copies of Miirym and then blast in Scourage and Terror nuking players for upwards of 60 damage from the sheer amount of copies of dragons and the doubling down on the triggered abilities. Something worth noting, when you have a clone enter as a copy of miirym, you still had a nontoken dragon enter, so the clone will earn you a non legendary token copy as well, which will give you something to clone moving forward. Really, as long as you stick the original miirym and resolve a clone and its etb, you don’t particularly have to worry about the legend rule at all because you just make the clones after enter as copies of the non legendary miirym.

    • @TheCommanderTavern
      @TheCommanderTavern  2 года назад

      Yup, that's exactly what I explain in the video. Once you get that first nonlegendary token copy of Miirym, every clone afterwards should enter as a copy of the nonlegendary token. 5:01 why does glasspool mimic not enter as a token when copying the nonlegendary copy of miirym? My friends argue it doesn't trigger miirym because it's a copy of a token and miirym only copies nontoken creatures

    • @TheCommanderTavern
      @TheCommanderTavern  2 года назад +1

      Tokens are placeholder objects representing something in the game (in this case, a creature). They are NOT cards. However, if an actual card (in this case, Mirrorpool Mimic) copies a token, the literal card doesn't become a token. Since it's an actual card and not a token, Miirym copies it because it's a nontoken dragon when it enters the battlefield as a copy of the nonlegendary Miirym. Token is not a property nontoken copy effects copy.

    • @TheCommanderTavern
      @TheCommanderTavern  2 года назад +3

      Exactly, that's what I explain in the video. The original clone gets sacrificed as a state-based action but Miirym still creates a NONLEGENDARY copy of the clone because the clone enters the battlefield as a legendary dragon. Thus, Miirym makes a nonlegendary copy of it. So the original gets sacrificed. However, every other clone you play needs to enter as a copy of the nonlegendary clone. That way it doesn't get sacrificed as a state-based action because it's not a legendary creature. You don't have future clones enter the battlefield as a copy of the original (legendary) Miirym but of the nonlegendary token copy of Miirym courtesy of the original clone.

    It is a perfect fit

    • @TheCommanderTavern
      @TheCommanderTavern  2 года назад

      Unfortunately, Mirror Box is actually ultimately useless here. The tokens Miirym creates are nonlegendary, so there's no need to worry about the legend rule. Speaking of tokens, Mirror Box doesn't count tokens with its final ability. So all it would do in the deck is give +1/+1 to a mere handful of cards.

    • @mHysteresis
      @mHysteresis 2 года назад

      @@TheCommanderTavern well mirror box allow all your clone that do not modify the legendary close to stay if needed and the +1/+1 boost all the one that are not token so the real and the clones. The token are counting for thr +1/+1 just not giving it to them

    • @TheCommanderTavern
      @TheCommanderTavern  2 года назад

      @@mHysteresis Not really. Once you clone Miirym the first time, you have your clones enter as a copy of the NONLEGENDARY Miirym token in order to get TWO more Miirym copies instead of one because the original will die as a state-based action. So you have your subsequent clones copy the nonlegendary token copies. That way you only ever lose one clone once. You don't ever copy the original Miirym again if you have its nonlegendary tokens on the board. Those are the ones you copy with clones afterwards. The deck doesn't have enough legendary creatures to warrant including Mirror Box; it doesn't count tokens. And the legend rule only affects the first ever clone, not any of the subsequent ones. It's a wasted slot here.

    So my friend brought up his text is "whenever another dragon enters" does that not include himself?

    • @TheCommanderTavern
      @TheCommanderTavern  2 года назад

      That is a self-referencing line of text. That just means that when Miirym itself enters the battlefield, it doesn't copy itself. Same thing happens with the clone. When the clone enters the battlefield as a copy of Miirym, it doesn't make a copy of itself. However, the SEPARATE Miirym already on the battlefield (the original one) will clone that new Miirym (the clone) because it's a DIFFERENT dragon entering the battlefield. So the new Miirym triggers the old Miirym, not itself. This is why it works.

      Full Flowering is definitely a busted card but I feel like its winmore. If you already have a ton of Miirym, you should be winning the game by then.
      Moritte is definitely a good enough clone but I didn't include it because it would only be copying other creatures besides Miirym. Because it can't even copy a Miirym clone because it will always be legendary. But it could definitely fit in decks as another clone since it'll make a second copy of whatever nonlegendary creature you choose thanks to Miirym.
      Damn, RNGsus really abandoning you to that Mana Crypt 😆

      @@TheCommanderTavern Miirym says the token it makes isn't legendary but Moritte says the copy is legendary, i wasn't sure which order things happened, but i suppose you're right.

      You're not going to believe this but I ran into almost this exact play line tonight, except it was even more busted. Miirym, spark double, OG Clone, Ghostly flicker Miirym and spark double get 8 copies. Then Moiritte who died but left me with 14 token copies, 28 total, minion of the mighty cheating Niv mizzet into play making 28 copies of him.
      Lol, still didn't win against mono white avacyn who's player couldn't take any damage from creatures.

      @@Fausto_4841 The thing is, Moritte says itself on the card that it's going to be legendary in its rules text. So even though Miirym might create a copy that isn't legendary, Moritte's rule text adds the legendary supertype to itself after the fact (and thus its token copies, too).

      Panharmonicon is pretty effing tasty in Miirym, for damned sure. Astral Dragon and Flameshadow Conjuring is some next level spice as well. Epic!
