- The Sepdiurnal Virus is rapidly changing and the Red Moon Phenomenon now occurs every single night... In this playthrough I'll be spinning a wheel to determine the difficulty each day (aka viral mutation/evolution). Some days will be easy, others will be very hard! And each day there will be a horde night. How long can we last before we're overrun by the undead?!

Agree on the flash forwards. Factoring in the base overhaul and game stage. It was a nice addition to his editing. If it was done every video from here on out. The flash forwards would get old really quick though.

This series has never got boring at all - but adding the knucks and beer as a new meta is an epic shift. Felt well earned after the last couple of nights taking a toll! Great series.
For me it's getting more fun as time goes on!
I dont know if anyones mentioned it but, the "armour" that was placed around the outside was at the perfect height for zombies to "think" they can run along it which probably encouraged them to dig through the wall potentially... Also from observing the steel doors are damaged dont know if the zombies see the holes in them as potential hazards aswell

Awesome series :) You can put a line of hatches or doors facing down instead of the catwalk. You can have catwalk if you need when they are opened and get rid of it by closing them if things go not very good.
The cut to the on foot hoard night was a great addition XD Finally figured out the problem, man, I NEVER would have guessed that XD
The total killer of that base on the first horde night was the vault door health, when they have holes on in zombies dont like to path over :P Fun police changed it when they made changes on hitting through doors and so. I guess its been funny to make that horde on foot. Keep going ^^

Switching to solid blocks and keeping that door in repair is making SUCH a difference!
Also...I think that brawling made a HUGE difference for those Demomen. No more spear overpen hitting a dude you couldn't see.
Granted this was an easier Dice roll today...but still!

I wonder if the zombies not pathing on damaged doors started when you could hit zombies through doors. I dont remember this last alpha. Also an idea to make the zombies stop going through the wall, maybe the steps and alleys to the fighting position arent connected to the base. just leave a block gap from floor to roof right next to the step on either side.

One of your best series! The little quick snippets of the on foot horde night was chef's kiss moments. I love knuckles with Vol. book that eliminates the buzz affect for a clear screen. Max knuckle points and all volumes and that melee weapon is so much fun. I'm also a big fan of the Robotic Turrets as helpers during horde nights and very congested POIs. Drum mag mod and other mods on Robotic Turret and load with ammo, place it down for extra fire power assistance. KEY POINT LEARNED = make sure Steel Doors are max or close to close max health always to make sure their pathing is straight to your melee fighting position along the thin steel cables. You could also put Dew Collectors where the Farm was and move Farm Plots just little away from base since you really only need Corn and Potatoes for the good Stews and harvest once in awhile. Keep up the amazing work!
Maybe put the spot lights above the fighting space? That way you get illumination and freeing up extra cladding space

That first Horde had me on the edge of my seat. The first flash forward caught me way off guard... made me jump lol. Awesome Episode.
That horde was awesome! It would be cool to see you do a playthrough as a nomad and see what sort of system you could figure out to deal with the zombies without a base present

Trying to catch up due to life issues. I wonder if the reason the zombies were trying to go through the wall to get to the catwalk in your 1st horde is because of the iron door there? Can't wait to catch up!
Ah you figured it out! Never would have thought that was the problem!
Firstly this maybe an upgrade for your fighting positions; replace the lower block with the Arrow Slot block, you can still shoot the crawlers, but they shouldn’t crawl through, and Secondly build a second wall, two blocks off from the base on the sides which you are going to use the blade traps on, so you can set twice the number of blade traps to cut down the Zombies.
Maybe that garden is now the first phase of GNS Brand Beer and Moonshine!
The foreshadowing clips of horde night made this episode so much more thrilling and ominous! I’m not sure if you edit these yourself or have an editor, but either way, I am always so impressed with the editing each episode.

16:26 to 17:10 looks like a game trailer. Open it with a close-up of a guy staring at a picture of his wife or his child or the last pint of Häagen-Dazs on earth. In the background the radio is reporting on the zombie apocalypse. Follow that with a montage of weapons being loaded and strapped on and and a cold voice saying "not on my watch" Then edit in 14:38 to 14:47 then the 16 to 17.

i know scaffolding bars are not nice looking but maybe think about putting some on the windows and walls between you and your forges and stuff so the cop puke doesn't hit them, just a suggestion.

I've found the zeds get a bit weird when the door used for pathing is damaged even a little bit, once you have a hole in the door it's a no-go for em

yeah if the doors are damaged they won't walk on them, can absolutely confirm.
Infection over 20%... Gotta check with the traders for some vitamins!
Haven't yet finished the episode but if you haven't done it, I would just concede and put those plate 2 filler blocks back to stop them from carving the walls, because I don't think they'll stop as long as they're full cubes or any block they think they can walk on. If anything, put two full cubes on either side of them; yeah it's ugly but at this point in the series if you don't end up dying this episode's second night or beyond function over form is basically required!
Catwalks would have been fine if there was a break similar to how you redirect the zombies with the doors. Having a door or jail door at the end point that you can put down when horde night is happening would stop them from seeing it as a path
Sounds like my own horde night last time. I ran out of gas in my jeep and was outside of a Crack a Book HQ PoI… Lost my jeep and most of my sanity. It was a very gnarly night haha. But I didn’t die although I think I got to 3 HP at one point lmao.

I've had zombies not want to cross doors like that, damaged or not. Only fix was to close and reopen them or just don't open them til after HN starts.

Make quick trader rounds and nuy all the resources you can to give you a headstart while production rolls on.
Love the series with little to no modding
I commented to my wife on this ambitious series that as game stage increases difficulty that there will not be enough time to repair, get ammo, mine, gather resources, explore, visit traders, cook food, get water, craft required materials.
You know, I could've been a nice guy and told you to keep those doors repaired but naaaa lol.
7 Days between hordes will feel relaxing for you at this point.
If the zombies won't follow your pathing, there's something in it they think is more work than the alternative. Difficult to troubleshoot in the middle of a horde, but how often do you see people just say 'zombie pathing is weird!' and give up. It had to be something that has changed, the way they were going was now more work than before, as steel, so it had to be the intended path, and the only changes there were the state of the damage, and the improved fighting position, which wasn't more work to get through.

Where you have the catwalk or had them at. You should have put vault doors instead of those iron doors because I think that's why they wanted to cut through the wall. Like if they were vault doors that would have probably made them go the right way

You could make a really cool thing on the farming area with horizontal garage doors and sensors to land the gyrocopter.
Just need to figure out how to make a takeoff runway.
Nice Video, you could make the bew catwalk out of doors so if that situation happens again you can close them and cut that pathway.
Fortitude build is fun isn't it? I think there's a perk book or i guess you unlock it by perk points, but basically if you hit a zombie in the head you'll reduce the chances of them infecting you. Saves you some antibiotic.

Dude your videos are awesome, the strategies, game mechanics breakdowns, mods and game play should be on the 7days steam store page. Thanks for when you put together and sharing those mod packs, my friends and I have been enjoying the fallout series. Although the mysterious stranger in that mod is broken and during a horde will rapid spawn. We had over two dozen invincible "Daves" running like mad men and they never despawned.

Personally I much prefer the flash forward new editing style much better than the repeated/emphasized sentence you have done in previous videos. I think this new style suits the video and your editing better
hey so i noticed that they werent going through your steel they were going over it. the blocks above the steel on that corner were brick. they were pathing over the steel and then drop onto the catwalk. if you reinforce that whole corner with steel all the way up they shouldnt do that anymore
Mr. GNS, I love this series and I love your videos. Your editing is beyond amazing. But I have to ask, why would you skip right over fighting on foot in the middle of Diersville? That would have been SO awesome to watch. I understand cuts must be made but dang, I wish I could have seen that fight. You were out of your comfort zone and that's entertainment!

Instead of plates on the side of the stairs put ladders, it works better IMHO.
Dude, I had the same pathing issue at my base. I made a design very similar to what you have and the zombies were pathing everywhere except the staircase. My doors were damaged. Not a good thing on DF max zombies lol
instead of the v2 plates what about wrapping the stairs around the side so they have an easier route up
Could possibly have kept the catwalk if you used hatches in front of the doors and just lower the hatch at night

i think ur biggest flaw in ur bases is that fact that u paint over wood/flagstone blocks. paint is ur nemesis lol. I have no clue how to come back from this besides doing ur own repairs for a bit and not use the repair blocks cus they fix things that r not important to fix. too bad we dint get to see u panic durning the horde that would've been fun to see hahaha have fun with days 44/45 cant wait to see more of this awesome chaos.

(commenting early) I don't see why you don't just make a platform 150 blocks out that has 6 or 9 water collectors. You get water, they don't get destroyed. lol
