Honestly, if you play regular 7days it just feels like such a quick jump from like pump "weapons" into iron "weapons". This slow progression makes anything you loot super special and meaningful.

Don't worry about Perk books you can craft those at the cost of 10 literature fragments inside the research desk. really nice way to get those super important books like the hunters journal that gives 10% more damage to zombies. I would say as a tip to make things a bit easier is to go for medical level 40 so you can craft herbal anti-biotics which can be made fairly easily and inside the campfire that way the infection becomes an after thought.
Hey GNS, when you were looting the little military camp at the start, you looted 2 of the 3 military pallets but left the janky one. The flat top, on the ground, counts as a loot chest all the same too!

I was going to say the same. I've found around a dozen of them so far. Worth carrying one around on the bike for when you find drums or gas pumps. I also dragged home one of the 4 barrel jobs (very slowly) to store it all. I have around 100 gas saved up atm just from what I've found from looting.
Yeah, I've found in most of the mods that you can pick stuff up, you're usually better off picking it up and scrapping it, and sometimes its the only way to get materials of certain types, rather than bashing them (which makes sense, you aren't going to get gears and springs by beating on it with a hammer, you have to take it apart carefully).

For people who are a little curious while gold does have some antibacterial properties we mainly use it because it is incredibly biocompatible, which in really basic terms it means our bodies wont reject it and it wont create adverse effects, it does have some antibacterial qualities but that isn't really the primary use.
so for bees, some stumps in the world can be resided by bees, but fairly often, trees you chop will too. so in this new base area, maybe find an iron node, or a copse of nearby trees and chop em all, somewhere you'll return to to check on them from time to time. and eventually some should spawn in beehives. they can be manuka or regular.

37:00 there's a survivor note that talks about this that basically scold other survivors for not letting the tree stump grow just because they want to find honey, completely forgetting where bees live. (hint hint)
Yeah, that was a good one. I had to chop down a whole mess of trees that were so thick I couldn't see the coal node the map said was there. I left all the stumps which served 2 purposes, it helped mark where my coal mine was, and a good few of them got me some honey later as well. Unfortunately the honey doesn't respawn tho.
i think u can find a jerry can for more gas rather than using jars. Also I would put together some of those fuel barrels that r 4 in a pod and use that to store gas. You can also get ones for water and beer that r in either the 3 or 4 depending on which one you grab. you should store lots of liquids so u won't need to leave as often. can't wait to see what base ideas you could come up with playthrough is looking cool so far

Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed Twitch-con. I must say I really missed seeing your video's in my feed the past week and I'm really enjoying this play through. I've got my current Afterlife base in the same Red Ruby building, what a great poi to set up in. A great way to get easy xp is to harvest zombie corpses. Three or four hits with a bone knife nets you bones, rotten flesh, butchering and agility xp which can really add up. You can also rarely find jerrycans in loot for storing and carrying larger amounts of fuel (25 units iirc per can). I have 2 cans but nothing to use in yet, still grinding for my minibike. I'm curious to see how you deal with those rock throwing zombies, the last horde night they tore my oil silo base right out from under me and I had to run and dodge the rest of the night. Quite uh exciting to say the least. :)

If you are looting something well someone is standing up so you are already seen you make a lot more noise but if you hold E well looting you will loot fast and loader good for car looting or loot bag in combat.
Yeah Redbeard said in the discord that stun batons are a one time use thing unfortunately, but again, slows progression and doesnt make you too OP too early :shrug: so i like it personally. Edit: Don't forget the COMPASS! :D
judging from the way this mod works, i have a sneaking suspicion if you wanna repair the stun baton you may wanna read a bunch of those electrical books. it makes sense in my head anyway. your technically repairing electronics
Seems like a high level zombie can randomly spawn for you to wander into. I've bumped into a wild rad tourist in the desert, and a rad marlene. Saw a dire wolf in the forest biome not too long ago. My gamestage isn't even that high. If randomly spawning high level zombies really are a thing, looks like yours was a Wight. Scary stuff.
Great stuff Temreki. Some tips: (1) if you chop down trees, many of the resultant stumps will have bees take up residence. Some of those stumps have have "Manuka honey." (2) While Manuka honey is considerably better than normal honey it is even better if it is combined with the paste from the glowing magic mushroom. (3) The glowing magic mushrooms (syphia?) appear in woodland areas at dusk and disappear at dawn. You can easily harvest 50 of them in a single night of foraging.
You should consider living in Reckt's compound. You can make a home on top of one of the annexes and you'll have plenti space for gardening. In DF the animal feed bags drop corn seeds. I usually get over 30 from his compound alone. Wonder how it is in this mod...
You do get seeds from those bags in AL. But you would definitely not want to live there. Rekt's place is always teeming with Zs, it's a steady stream all the time from what I've seen so far.
Hey mate place spike traps in the open and lead the hordes to it, They are super cheap to make and Zombies walk right into them and take a heap of damage.
I gave up playing this mod after 10 hours. It's was pure torture and constant hunt for water totally killed the joy of the game for me. I guess I found my limit.
Yeah it is very grindy, on day 36 and just got a motorcycle. Ammunition to is a huge issue was doing some T4 & some T5's and was maybe pulling 20 bullets of a type out of a chest you pretty much need to manufacture your own in this mod. Granted I still don't have the increased ammo from loot book but I don't think that is going to make that much of a difference. The water gatherers are just too slow have had 8 down for 10+ ingame days and they only got like 4 water each in them very slow gathering rate.
@@DustinDonald-cz9ot Water problems are a thing of the past with the distillery. And the best way to get ammunition is to produce it yourself. You only have to mine nitrate in the desert 1 or 2 times. After that, you have peace of mind. You have to travel around quite a bit to get your stuff, but I really enjoy it.
@@DustinDonald-cz9ot Your thinking vanilla, T4 and t5 aren't viable unless you have been playing properly. Running to the wasteland first thing or raiding high lvl poi's before your gathering and looting are up to par ALWAYS ends up with crap loot!
@@DustinDonald-cz9ot There is a item they changed into a lootable container and that has way too much ammunition in it. Once you identify which one, you'll be able to target those POI that have that container and never have to worry about ammo again.
Yeah they should slow progression to the point the first 40 hours of a playthrough is nothing but resource harvesting and running from 90% of fights. Sick stuff, I also consider being completely inundated in tedious tasks the pinnacle of fun IRL. That's why I love the current era of survival games bro. Though tacking on end-game content also isn't a great idea since the game will run like garbage. Sick game design, sick game engine.
My theory for the infection magically showing up, is after day 8 when your optimism wears off your minimum vitality is 0 and at that point maybe you’re able to get the infection? Or maybe it just infects you. But I definitely had nothing that should’ve infected me but I still got it. So idk 🤷🏼♂️
30:40 see that pallet of cardboard in the back? That can be searched for a lot of paper. Also, you keep dropping bad gear (shovels and bows). Doesn't scrapping it give you skill xp?
There are charcoal makers as well but they really don't seem any better than just using campfires and it takes quite awhile to amass quite a bit of charcoal something like 3 charcoal for ever 1 log which is about 20 min of burn time.
mods like this just make me miss apocalypse now. id much rather turbo insanity over "how do we extend the early game for as long as possible while also making everything extremely tedious"
I love how you're using some of the old game music. Are you just recording that from older versions or is there a specific way to access a clean copy? Also, if you chop down some pine trees, they will leave stumps behind. The lighter colored stumps will mature with bees, and that's when you extract honey with empty jars. After harvest (or too much time passes, I think), then the stump turns dark and will no longer give you honey.
To be honest, I thought that it was the hobo stew that started your infection. Maybe illl go back and check, i I thought that there was no infection symbol before you ate it and cancelled it.

I didnt know about filling up jars for gas, there are also jerry cans you can find that hold up to 40 gas.

Just a tip: When you looting hold down the R button to speed up the loot time, but it will be louder and may attract nearby zombies

There are fuel canisters that collect more fuel at once. Don't just think they are decoration.
The grave right next to the mausoleum (underground) is worth digging up, It's an ammo box. Or at least is has been up until 1.0

Not sure how much this helps but, you can smelt rocket launcher parts if you have high enough heat! Same with all the other tool type parts!

Not necessary to scrap all the books. You can make your own fairly easily. Just takes paper and black paste...
Well it takes 10 minutes and 100 paper per fragment... I wouldn't call that easy and certainly not faster

My theory for the infection magically showing up, is after day 8 when your optimism wears off your minimum vitality is 0 and at that point maybe you’re able to get the infection? Or maybe it just infects you. But I definitely had nothing that should’ve infected me but I still got it. So idk 🤷🏼♂️
I've heard you start with the infection already and you don't get the display until it reaches 60%

Yo Guns, if looking for charcoal, can you still get it from the smoldering fires in this mod?
There are charcoal makers as well but they really don't seem any better than just using campfires and it takes quite awhile to amass quite a bit of charcoal something like 3 charcoal for ever 1 log which is about 20 min of burn time.
I spent a day smelting scap metal and resmelting slag to get about 70kg of iron, don't sleep on resmelting slag.
mods like this just make me miss apocalypse now. id much rather turbo insanity over "how do we extend the early game for as long as possible while also making everything extremely tedious"
I love how you're using some of the old game music. Are you just recording that from older versions or is there a specific way to access a clean copy? Also, if you chop down some pine trees, they will leave stumps behind. The lighter colored stumps will mature with bees, and that's when you extract honey with empty jars. After harvest (or too much time passes, I think), then the stump turns dark and will no longer give you honey.

To be honest, I thought that it was the hobo stew that started your infection. Maybe illl go back and check, i I thought that there was no infection symbol before you ate it and cancelled it.
Yep it was defo the hobo stew, I went back and checked, you contracted the infection while on your roof
