Get a Marauder and upgrade it if necessary. Most today would probably only need a manual transmission a swap and probably be quicker. Remember I said most because a lot of work has already been done on them.
What really funny is that I saw one of these up for sale in Ottawa Ontario, the guy was selling it for 5,500$ I thought to my self that his son built it (the guy selling it was 50/55 years old) so i said what’s the story he said “I bought it in 2003 from a charity auction (for first responders of 911) for 45,500$” (I’m asking about it in 2011) and I said “for a Crown Vic” and then he said “no it’s a Cobra Vic” and im like a Cobra Vic and then he explained the story behind it, and i was in shock when I heard the story, the Vic needed A LOT of work Front suspension, front bumper, new glass and I thought for 3,000$ he would say yes but nope, what he said was this car was special and it needed to go to a good home, after a week the car was gone and I new I messed up big time when i noticed the car was gone, to this day I still regret not buying that car. Great video
I have heard rumors of a few high horsepower Vics with manual gearboxes from the factory, but I always figured that they were just tall tales. Now I have the rest of the story as proof.
This man makes me love crown Vic’s yet I hate them cause how many try to follow me if you all see where I’m going. But only this man can get me to think about getting one
I mentioned this once before on a ford Crown Vic related video , the Ford corporation made a huge mistake by decommissioning this platform ( Crown Vic , Grand Marquis , Town car ) , if they only kept it producing specifically for the GCC countries in the middle east , then these brands will never Die !!! Guess its to late for that now .....
Rob Logo and why would they go that way if they were to continue the platform? The 4.6 liter V8 is good in my opinion, just a touch of technology in which Ford is somewhat best for , is enough to maintain the production of the platform....

Ive heard rumours ford thought of making a manual option on the vic they just never put a manual into production because the primary market was police use and a manual shifter would get in the way of installing computers and radio equipment between the front seats Considering how easy it is to manual swap a Vic and especially that you basically just have to flip a few bits in the computer to make it play nicely with a manual transmission it makes me think one was actually planned and i dont think it could be a setting left because of the roush cobra because a 2v 4.6 uses a different PCM. Also at least my 05s owner manual makes a lot of references to "on vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission" implying there could be vehicles without one
Trip out!! The white car on there is my car!! Unfortunately it only shares the look and suspension of the real Cobra Vics, I bought it from one of the instructors, gets a lot of attention, landed a couple shots in Car Craft Magazine a few years back.
@@lorenzoludd7032 The bumper came on the car when I got it, the previous owner is an instructor at Bondurant which is how all the Roush parts ended up on it.
I live in Detroit and seen 1 of these cars at a roush car show here in Livonia Michigan outside of Detroit. This is one fast car and one hell of a build.Roush racing is the best,I'm trying to save up to get some roush heads for my 5.0.I have a 1988 Mercury cougar xr7 that I would love if roush to made one. They actually did make a 1988 Ford Thunderbird though, if you haven't seen it check it out.I would love to get my hands on all those parts :)
This was basically the father of Mercury Marauder. So if you want one of these go find yourself a Marauder. Bob is also the reason Ford decided to build the Fox LTD LX. Grand father of this car 👍
I own a Marauder. I wish it did come in a manual. Still love the car. Lots of power, and space for the fam! This is a cool car! I agree. Kinda seems like the father to the Marauder.
Very cool, thanks for sharing. My 1st car was a 1964.5 Mustang. It was my Grandmas car she bought it new an California. She came to live with us in 1968. I got the car in 1976!!! What a great 1st car.

Bob had the 1983-86 Ford LTD LX mid-size 5.0 sedan at his performance school. I had two. One was a police vehicle 120 mph, automatic columb shift, (stolen). The other 5.0 floor shift automatic Sport suspension, (totaled by Hurricane Sandy. Very rare car also a few clones were built. So check the build sheet behind or under the rear bench seat. Awesome sleeper.
I'm a mechanic, live in Chandler, AZ, and have actually wrenched for the Bondurant School, as well as having attended it twice. I never saw one of these cars. Or an SHO. They did use some Crown Vics, but they were just regular P71s. Mostly Mustangs, then Corvettes. The Bondurant School is sadly not in Chandler, but on an Indian reservation. They are leasing the land. Right next to it was Firebird International Raceway, one of the best drag strips in the country. I raced there for years. Then the Indians canceled their lease, and it is now Wild Horse Pass raceway. It has gone downhill quite a bit, but the cost to use the track has gone up. I no longer race there.
this was cool on a whole different level. I had completely forgotten about this until now. I remember seeing this car in an advertisement for the driving school. so glad I came across this today. awesome video.
10 years ago in alachua county Florida near Gainesville. On i75 I got close to the rear of a FHP car .It was a new undercover car.It was a Mercury marauder. Radar on.And for a fact it had on the rear near the trunk a chrome cobra.

I can remember this being mentioned in a performance car magazine in 1999 can't recall which one though, I had a 1991 Mustang GT when I was 18 but that was a bad combo depending which way you look at it.
Back in the day, (late 1990's-Early 2000's) I saw a couple of similar cars in the Wilmington, Delaware docks. They were being loaded to Saudi Arabia. These had "Crown Cobra" badges on them and I was told that they were built by someone in the area, specially for the Saudis. I dont know if they were manuals or autos, since I never looked inside, but they were very similar to these.
Seen a video a couple years ago of a 2 door black crown vic with a 4 speed manual trans it was just a couple minutes long and showed the owner driving around a town and showed the shifting

I have a buddy that had a Crown Vic with a console shifter and it reminded me of a Marauder. I've never seen another one like it. Wonder if it was based off RCCV?
Man excellent find. And hey I totally remember this. I read about it when it came out in Motor Trend or maybe Mustang? Magazine? Either way it didnt get the spotlight because they slipped it in the same article as the Mercury Marauder. Which was featuring that god awful V10 (at the time?). I remember a quote in the article about lighting the tires up very easily, and how you could tell it wasnt a Mustang when all that extra weight came around on ya in the corners. Wow what a car. And now people have to believe me that it existed!!
Just to Add on to this Mr. Random, Ford did take notice of this car, and the custom Lizard Lounge Crown Vic. And they Did in fact build 11,052 cars based on this concept. Only they were not Crown Vics. We know them as the Mercury Marauder. Only the head of Mercury at the time kept putting the brakes on developers who wanted bunch of go fast goodies, 3.73's, possible 5.4 DOHC, Aluminium hood and trunk to cut down on the 4200lbs curb weight, so on. Personally it was a absolute shame ford didn't make a small run of these cars for the public. the suspension wheels, and 5 speed still would have been a killer car even behind the 4.6 2v. Luckily I have seen one of these cars in person at the Hot Rod Power Tour in Cape Canaveral Florida. On another note, In 1999 the Crown Victoria was still powered by the NPI 4.6 2v. 215hp was max power output if you had the dual exhaust option. The Mustang got the PI 4.6 in 1999. The poor neglected Vic didn't get the pleasure of the seeing the upgrade until 2001. Then power was at 230hp. 235 with dual exhaust. NPI (Non-Performance Improved) PI (Performance Improved) Basically they changed the cylinder head and plastic intake design to improve air flow, thus improving power.
The white one in the beginning just has the bumper from one, owned by my friend Roy Murray, you can look up his Fauxbra Vic in Car Craft Magazine Archives.

You've got to get the suspension and find a 4v to swap in, then you can deal with supecharging it
