    anyone who is going to criticize Walt Disney as an 'awful man' or a 'tyrant' as this documentary suggests, read up on his early history first - which the documentary didn't go into, it jumped straight to Snow White. Walt had tried a character called Oswald the Rabbit, before Mickey Mouse. The man in charge of the company he approached screwed him over big-time. Walt learned well from that day that he had to cling onto power, no matter what. sometimes it meant being harsh. but good thing he did.

    I think this series is very commited to the darker sides of the people they portray.... Its so immense what this man contributed to the world, and it really doesnt come trough here...

    Walt Disney created an animation studio and when the films were released it said Walt Disney Presents Pinocchio. Disney workers were the highest paid in the industry, he built an entire complex around his studio to entertain his workers, and sold them lunch out of the cafeteria often at a loss to the studio - that SOB treated his workers terrible!!! Man, and he was a prude too, he devotes his life to creating a company that develops family entertainment - and has the odacity to

    It really annoys me when people refuse to believe that Walt Disney did all these bad things as if they expect him to be perfect. Walt Disney was like this because the era he was born in, get over it.

    these people are saying that walt wanted all the attention for himself, then why did he put a thank you letter in front of snow white saying "My sincere appreciation to the members of my staff whose loyalty and creative endeavor made possible this production".

    • @Newmoonbloom
      @Newmoonbloom 7 лет назад

      Because displaying a thank you letter to himself, in front of snow white, might not garner return visitors. How people represent themselves in public isn't always a good indicator of how they behave in private.

    Guys, this is "Secret Lives". Of course it's focusing on the negative parts.

    It's for purposes of proportion. Artists use simple shapes all the time when drawing figures and objects.

    "Geez, this will make Beethoven!"
    No offense, Walt, but Beethoven didn't need YOU to make him. Geez, the arrogance!

    LOL, this whole video is bait for people who want to hate. Anyone who's actually read a few unbiased books about Disney knows that Melendez and unions always had it in for Walt for not "sharing" but hey, it was HIS company. What a great job this video does of vilifying. Masterful distortion of history.

    So Walt Disney was not a good artist; I am sure Steve Jobs was not the best either...but some how, the best artist is not what a company needs; but the best leader.
    This Bill Melendez sure has some anger built up - in these videos; again, in Walt: The Man Behind the Myth, he sure seemed like a different person; either way, he is misleading or lying.

    @DODPHOTOGRAPHY You are not paying attention to the clip, they said Disney had Art auditions with his name under other Art work and he took rewards for Animations Art and new Animation techniques he did not invent. 1) IT does'nt matter if he found the studio he did not do the Art work so it is not "His" work, he owns the work but he is not the creator and can not sell Art with his name on it.

    they focused on the worse aspects of his personality...
    most people who created a huge business or got rich/ powerful.. did bad things at a certain point.... plus, he was a product of his time.
    the man was a genius and a pioneer, nonetheless;;

    Bunch of whiners and sour grapes. You want your name above the name of the movie then open your own damn studio - like Walt did.

    isn't it ancient history now? it makes me wonder again and again... that work and persona behind are two different facets and very different faces.... and one cannot but separate the two , enjoy the visual for what it is, as audience and ignore the other nasty one.

    @DODPHOTOGRAPHY you are obviously NOT an artist, Walt took crdit for Art Work he did not draw, even if he is the owner of the company that is still a insult to an artist. Even in a magazine the writers for articles get their credit, Walt took credit for art he did not draw.

    this is the biggest crock of illuminati-esque crap i've ever seen. i agree, walt had a temper, walt was harsh, walt was a "slave driver," but THOSE were the TIMES and HE worked like that to get to where he was. i am a union member and lover and there are REASONS unions came to be, it was because of conditions of the TIME, which he was part of. let there be debate and controversy over the man but let that be based on FACT and NOT conspiracy theories and butt-hurt opinion. sorry but i'm right.
