An early morning chat from Seoul, South Korea. The song in this video is called "Stargazing" and appears on my 2016 album "Direction Of Travel", released under the name She Makes War ✨ 📸 Eel photo by Morgan Riggs.

I visit South Korea regularly and I have to say the cuisine is fantastic.
I wholeheartedly agree! What’s your favourite dish?
Live octopus is beyond sick. Lol the moray photos for your eel future meal haha, I'm sure you know it isn't that fish. Enjoy your stay! Hope you find a nice herbal tea too 🍵🫖
Thank you!
Love your videos. I have never been to South Korea. So interesting. Thank you.
Thanks for watching, Peter!
I've had eel in a sushi restaurant in Bristol. It was delicious.
Wonderful to hear! Was it cooked or raw?
@Penfriendrocks cooked. I think it was smoked, it had that smoked fish taste to it, like kippers or whatever.
Did you try the Yuja-cha? It's essentially jam disguised as tea: water down the jam for an exceptionally sweet, interesting drink. If the other sweet teas made you wince, this one would probably send you into hyperglycaemic shock.
I don't mind sweet things when they're meant to be sweet - that sounds very nice but I didn't come across it sadly. I did thoroughly enjoy a tea and rice combo we had after the ssam meal though - we were instructed to leave some rice at the bottom of the pot and pour tea in there and have it as a sort of soupy pudding at the end.
If Korean eel is anything like Japanese eel (unagi) then it will be bloody lovely. I’m not really a fish eater, but Japanese eel is delicious. Of course, it’s usually in a very tasty sauce which helps.
LOVE Ssam. Only had it for the first time this year. Glad you enjoyed it too! Always looks so good in k-dramas.
When I was in Japan I *tried* to eat first, ask what things were second. This led to discovering that apparently chicken hearts are very nice. But also that shellfish *things* are best left avoided.
Gasamhanida for the video!
I'm sure it is delicious, but SPOILER ALERT: I did not get round to eating eel while we were in Korea. Maybe next time? I like the sound of your foreign food policy, but I just had to draw the line with my three specific foods.
Nice W-EEL-helm scream at the start there!
well spotted!!
The maxwell house thing sounds very like a double double from Tim Hortons. Coffee with two cream and two sugar
I have to try that!
@@Penfriendrocks it’s not promoted as much in UK branches but it’s almost part of the culture in Canada 😂
I loved hearing about your adventures and like you I only like "fresh" coffee - now I'm curious about Maxwell House. The whole time I couldn't stop looking at that wine glass of barocca balancing on the arm of the chair. Right up until the last second! Please buy some Korean sweets something weird and wonderful!
Ha a little bit of peril is always good - I hadn't realised it looked so precarious!
Not eating anything alive 😂 but love cooked octopus I've been wanting to try eel I've caught one when fishing many years ago it went mental and ended up in about 10 pieces as it tangled itself up in the line didn't take it home I wasn't interested then in trying it
Oh wow, yep, that's quite a memory to have isn't it!
Years ago I had shark fin soup in Singapore. Of course not knowing anything about it back then we're talking about the 80s. It was fucking nasty and even then and you I would never have it again. But knowing how it's fished is even worse
It's barbaric - I know it can be seen as a bit hypocritical to eat meat/fish at all and complain about things like that but we have to draw a line somewhere, don't we! After shooting this video I did witness a man with live octopus being cooked in front of him and it was really horrible. He looked like it was no big deal at all.
