That was awesome and sick. To bad I'm not young anymore. I'll never get to go there. You'r description is great. We get to know more about the Blackcomb backcountry. It's amazing...
Great footage. Oh my goodness though - that touring line at the t-bar. Is it normally this busy? Seeing what seems like 1/10 of the resort skiers dump into the backcountry really puts a damper on the isolation aspect of bc touring and riding. Maybe that's just to be expected for any WB side country touring?
Once you get into the BK it is pretty spread out as there are targets everywhere. The morning rush has always been this busy, so if you want a more traditional touring experience, I'd totally recommend steering far clear of the sea to sky
Snow is still too low for them to open it up. Pretty rocky up top so no good ski into the glacier. Would make for a serious gong show if they opened it.
I was wondering when we'd see the day that did the 115s in! Looks like it was a good final day on 'em. Curious to see what you think about the Unleashed.
It was the perfect send off. They treated me so well. Really jazzed to try the unleashed. Need to rough up the edges a bit. I always hate a freshly tuned pow ski
Sitting here in my chair just stoked watching this. Every time you hit a shark im like ohh that wasn't good... We only get to go a few times a year now that we moved to the Deep South. Makes we want to move back home. Giving Banff a try this year.. Hopefully February delivers the pow...
That was a fantastic edition. Only problem is when people see what is available there will be more sales in equipment to upgrade their respective quivers. Then come the crowds. Keep up the spice! M
@@riseandalpine Just wait, it is going to get much more crowded. I certainly hope not , however I have skied Whistler/Blackomb since the early 70's and the growth is staggering. Love your vids and your vib. Stay strong M.
it's painful how busy Blackcomb backcountry is, but to be fair I think this was a sunny weekend? So it's kind of understandable. Surprised there aren't more accidents with groups skiing on top of each other. There was one on Decker in 2022 I believe. Coastal snowpack saves newbies from stupid decisions on the daily.
@@riseandalpine Castle can be tricky, I went yesterday because forecast said 6kph wind gusting to ~20, I think they left a zero off. It does provide for some great blow in tho. Very nice terrain overall, you would like it.
@@riseandalpine I saw your footage again at the kicking horse. I can’t believe you guys were able to have all that footage (like take the gondola top, boot pack, hike up ski down may times over) in like 2-3 days of stay there. We can see your hard work! Great job!
Woah! Is this a common sight to see a ton of people skiing up at the top of the resort? Personally I've never seen that but might not have been in the right place at the right time
Usually people ride the T-bar up and you see all the skinners going up to the East Col. If you stay on the resort you would usually never witness the butt sniffing festival
There seem to be a lot of athletic, skilled, risk-friendly skiers at Whistler. When skiing back country do you always arrive at a road or a cat track to get back to the resort? I'm curious to see which skis you now purchase.
This is borderline ludicrous on how busy Blackcomb has become. Lived there in the mid 80’s, and 7th Heaven was a TBar. A traverse and short hike over to the backside, and you could ski this without seeing a soul. Now there’s a lineup. Yikes. Of course, hardly anyone needed go that far as you could ski Crystal Ridge, Spanky’s, DOA for weeks with hardly any tracks. There were days when there were only 400 people at the entire mountain, and you could always find fresh tracks. Keep on looking for the fresh stuff!
I love all this incredible terrain, but not a chance I hike this much. I pay to use chairs and not spend energy going up mountain, I prefer to fly down and rest on way back up
The Deorum Apollo Freeride Ski Poles. They totally rock and have a great 360/go pro mount attachment on the handle. I've got a little discount code if you want to check them out. (Use code RISENALPINE for 5% off your order) www.deorumski.com/discount/RISENALPINE

One of your best 🎥so far. Awesome fall line
Still buzzing about the fall line. Longest run ever. A bucket list line for sure!
one of your best videos this season, love seeing those track free backcountry lines! ~ thanks for the stoke! ~
So glad you enjoyed it! The Blackcomb backcountry is stupidly gorgeous

I thought you guys were up there go or like 8 hours!
That was probably a jam packed day for you eh!
It was about 6 or so hours. The perfect day!
Epic vid! How come showcase tbar isn’t open yet? Heading over from NZ in a few weeks and hoping it’s good to go.
Snow is still too low for them to open it up. Pretty rocky up top so no good ski into the glacier. Would make for a serious gong show if they opened it.
I was eyeing HUSUME blackcomb glacier was a great snow year .

Banff is going to be awesome! Maybe I'll see ya that way in February
Soooo crazy to see that many people in the back country!
Dude that initial climb was nuts. Way to much but sniffing. Spread out pretty quick though.
I've never been skiing on a pow day and I want to so bad. Skiing that kind of snow look so dreamy
You gotta bag a powder day dude. It's the absolute best!

Not sure we could fit anymore people on the uptrack to east col :)

@@riseandalpine no way u replied!
Nice job making eights boys, some think that is a very lucky number. Finally got a bit of that luck at Castle today but we need SNOW.
Lucky Number 8! I reallly want to check out castle this season. You'll have to let me know when it's go time
@@riseandalpine Castle can be tricky, I went yesterday because forecast said 6kph wind gusting to ~20, I think they left a zero off. It does provide for some great blow in tho. Very nice terrain overall, you would like it.
Love it!
I'm already itching to ski it again
Do you guys do marathon? You guys have like incredible stamina. That’s a long traverse to cover in one day.
Rob runs marathons, I just do a lot of bootpacks hahah. I'm usually huffing and puffing bedhind the boys

That couloir looks straight out of Norway, very crazy. For those skis could you not just bring them to the shops or are they fulled compromised.
Unfortunately they are cracked straight through the wood - they lived a good hard life though
How difficult is this run in comparison to some of the others runs you did. It’s looks very intimidating
This runs only a green so it’s pretty easy actually
😅@@__Nate__
Depending on how the snow is it's absolutely a double black and quite intimidating compared to some of the on resort stuff
Woah! Is this a common sight to see a ton of people skiing up at the top of the resort? Personally I've never seen that but might not have been in the right place at the right time

Thanks Mark. One of my favourite runs with the boys ever

Typically you plan a route to get back to the lifts but no everything ends at a cat track! It's nice to do a loop and end on the resort though
That looked awesome. How long did it take you guys to do a full lap?
That whole loop was like a 9-230pm
Sick dude, skied er proper!
An unfortunate 'rock block' near the end hahaha
Why did was the Showcase T-Bar not running at the start of the video? Too early in the morning?
There is still a lack of snow
Bro that was so cool
It was so sick!

Fair enough! I love sitting on chairs too. Nice to mix up backcountry and resort days though.
All that work for a super tracked couloir , aww. At least some fresh lines beforehand.
I'm okay with people testing the stability for me!
am I the only european here thinking the amount of people waiting for the lifts and on the slopes generally speaking is terrifying ?
The lineups are indeed a nightmare
Why does that TBar never open...
