Always look forward to watch your videos. This one is incredible. The backcountry looks so great. That's one thing that I will never be able to experience, but thanks for bringing me there. Amazing...
Hah! I do occasionally stream some Rise&Alpine to my 85" TV - feels like I'm right there because of the GREAT video work. Most videos (including Warren Miller) feel like you are watching...not with our man here, always feels like actually skiing with the gang! (Haven't brought out the hot sauce yet but ya always want to - stay spicy!)
I wish ski channels like this had more subscribers so the creators could do stuff like this all the time! Maybe a camera guy for that long lens gold, and only organic pb n js!
The skiing niche is small in numbers but powerful in ENTHUSIASM and love for the sport. A camera man would be an awesome addition to get more 3rd person shots. I never want to hinder my friends experiences on skis asking them to film all the time so I tend to just strap on the camera and go for it myself.
Another great video James. I really enjoy your channel. Keep on posting! Maybe I'll see you on the hill. Your hot sauce is sold out on your site so save some for me on the lift!
100% - knowing your limits is a big part of staying safe in the backcountry. There's not a whole lot of margin for error, especially with the lack of daylight in the winter.
You can see Wedge Mountain's south face from the top of Stairmaster. You should try skiing down the south face of that, looks steep but massive and probably just a gigantic slope of untouched pow!
@riseandalpine love watching your videos and the work that you put into it. I am up in Whistler now and want to meet up and buy you a beer (or two) and hear more about your adventures.
Appreciate that Derek! Very seldom can say no to a beer. Already back in the city but stoked that you're catching this massive storm. How epic has it been.
Yoo! I found your vids last night thru auto play watching stan reys channel. Love the ski vlogs!! But Brooks curran!?!? Ive been watching this guy kill it on ski the east vids for a minute! (Im from VT) Kind of random but maybe not 🤷. So cool, keep doin it big!!!
did you seriously have a not planned, random meetup with Brooks and go out all day and ski the backcountry together? that's sick! Most people would plug their videos with "skiing with brooks," but not you, way to keep the channel about your energy and sweet adventures!
100% authentically just ran into him. He was up for a bachelor party and him and I just randomly crossed paths at the top of the t-bar. We also had a similar plan for the day which hilarious. Stoked he joined forces because the other half of the group didn't want to hike the couloir twice!
You should really do a proper disclaimer on all the slackcountry videos. These videos are great but people need to know that these are dangerous parts of the mountains that require avy gear and proper training
These parts of the mountain are absolutely dangerous but I wouldn't consider this slackcountry. This is 100% the Blackcomb Backcountry and if people really feel like there needs to be a disclaimer I can add one. Any time I have skins on, I'm carrying avi gear.
I go to these places all the time, have skied most all of them and always warn people that its dangerous back here, its just standard practice, and yeah the locals refer to these areas, where you take a lift up and walk back, the slackcountry.. because your leveraging the ski lifts to get there @@dcippitelli
Slackcountry, as defined by Backcountry Access, a leading brand in snow safety, is “a term that means using ski lifts to access 'backcountry' or out of bounds terrain.” Slackcountry is not a new concept, although its popularity has grown substantially over the last decade@@riseandalpine
@@GreatDomski Very good point! Never a bad call to harness/rope up on glaciated terrain. We were skiing downhill on all the glacier travel vs climbing and following tracks. We are also familiar with the glacier, the route and used local guide intel and felt comfortable cruising across. Of course, we probably should have all worn harnesses. No down side.
Crazy lines cool hikes and hot sauce. Good thing I’m watching this instead of paying attention in school.
Those views literally take your breath away even on video, beautiful.
Everyone's gotta go up there to see the views... It was other worldly
That was quite the pay off. Incredible panorama. Great job.
One of the best views ever!
Always look forward to watch your videos. This one is incredible. The backcountry looks so great. That's one thing that I will never be able to experience, but thanks for bringing me there. Amazing...
Glad I can bring you along to show you some of the views from the otherside of the gates!
Another epic adventure. Thanks for doing what you do.
Thanks Dave! Just doing what I love and so glad I can bring you along on these experiences with me.
The climb up the couloir and skiing down reminds me of Cody Townsend's 50 videos. I get sweaty palms looking down those . Great video, as always!
That's quite the compliment. Thank you. I don't think I'll ever be doing Cody esque things but let me tell you, this made my palms sweat too!
Love seeing the views climbing!! Thanks for the video, legend!
It's nice the camera can look down for me hahaha
That was some brutal boot packing. And to do it twice in a day!
But that skiing was stellar! Great conditions!
What a day! Keep shreddin'!
Thanks Max!
I'm going to have to watch that one again. That deserves to be watched on a TV. Well earned turns 😊😊
Thanks Dan! The views are just unbelievable.

Mind blowing scenery! 🔥⛷️🎥
Picture perfect!
So appreciative - unreal terrain.
Such a beautiful spot
looks absolutely EPIC!!
It was so dreamy!
Loving the backcountry content ❤
Thanks Sid! Gotta hunt pow when the resort isn't providing!
Great video. Love the big views. Snow looked great in the alpine.
There is always snow somewhere!
soooo nice 😍
WOW I can't believe such a rad line is near Blackcomb. That's so sick.
The Blackcomb Backcountry is loaded with amazing terrain!

Nice lines on a bluebird day, what could be better? Good advice about the back country, know your limits.

That view around the 6:30 mark was absolutely bonkers bud good work
May very well have been the best views of my life!
You can see Wedge Mountain's south face from the top of Stairmaster. You should try skiing down the south face of that, looks steep but massive and probably just a gigantic slope of untouched pow!
That looks like a dream line, but also a mega avalanche zone!
Every time I take that t-bar I feel like it instantly becomes a survival situation.
Snowboarder?
Major fan. Super cool views. Incredibly jealous man
Thanks brother!
Every time my son and I are at Whistler we keep a eye out for you. I need a shot of liquid courage
Feel free to say hi if ya see me!
Heavenly 😍😍
So gorgeous!
James come down to WA.
Yesterday was the best day of the season 30"
More pow on the way...
Yeeeewwwww!!
⛷💨💥
Thirty friggin inches? Damn! You must be at Baker, then.
Baker rocks, love that place.
HOLY COW... I need to get to baker. But first I gotta ski this Whistler storm. It's pretty epic too!
Or perhaps you're at Crystal? Stevens? Tell us, damn you!
Epic Brother
That is absolutely and completely mental.. 2 meters in a week WOW

Stoked you found my channel dude! It was fun running into Brooks. Had another good ski with him in Whistler recently on the resort.
Man, you stay safe. It looks at times that you take real risk with life and limb.
Very calculated risks on very safe days. My risk tolerance is actually quite low compared to a lot of skiers.
dreamy
brooks is the man
100%
absoulute mad lads for boot packing that twice
Anything for more turns!
everybody in your videos seems to have an arc teryx jacket loool!!
Classic! Except for me. HH gang!
Your amazing young man I’m living vicariously through your skiing ⛷️ ❤
Thanks for always tuning in
First like on the video!
Love it!
I have a soft spot for the stairmaster ❤
That moment the sun hits and you're looking at the Spearhead glacier. Priceless turns!
Dude you have way too much fun!! I love it!!! What bindings do you use? Shift?
I'm on the Marker Duke PT 16's

Fantastic skiing and scenery as usual! I see you have some new skis - how do you like those Unleashed compared to your 104 Frees?
They are more playful than the 104 frees but don't lose too much of that enforcer stability and carveability. Really stoked about these.
One day I'll do his 🤩
You absolutely should. The top of Phalanx is incredible!
I thought the snow wouldn’t be that good!
Shocked me too!

You still have to find the Tree's 🌲 🌲 🎄 🎄 even if they are teeny-weeny. 😂 🎿 ❄️ ❄️ 🎿
I'm a magnet to trees
14:52 How did you get out of your ski's so fast? Looks dope
hahaha my feet must have really hurt
What poles are you using?

Is it glaciated terrain? Sick views
Yes it is glaciated crossing the spearhead glacier and the Phalanx glacier near the top of the mountain we climbed.
@@riseandalpineI noticed y'all weren't wearing harnesses, is there just a reliable path that's there? Thanks
@@GreatDomski Very good point! Never a bad call to harness/rope up on glaciated terrain. We were skiing downhill on all the glacier travel vs climbing and following tracks. The spearhead is very heavily trafficked, but it never hurts to take every possible safety precaution!
why is the T Bar not open on the glacier??
It is too steep still with the lack of snow
What day was this??
This was last 2 weeks ago Wednesday
moi spicyyyyy
Yes sirrrr
