    • @riseandalpine

      The skiing niche is small in numbers but powerful in ENTHUSIASM and love for the sport. A camera man would be an awesome addition to get more 3rd person shots. I never want to hinder my friends experiences on skis asking them to film all the time so I tend to just strap on the camera and go for it myself.

      100% - knowing your limits is a big part of staying safe in the backcountry. There's not a whole lot of margin for error, especially with the lack of daylight in the winter.

      100% authentically just ran into him. He was up for a bachelor party and him and I just randomly crossed paths at the top of the t-bar. We also had a similar plan for the day which hilarious. Stoked he joined forces because the other half of the group didn't want to hike the couloir twice!

    You should really do a proper disclaimer on all the slackcountry videos. These videos are great but people need to know that these are dangerous parts of the mountains that require avy gear and proper training

    • @riseandalpine
      @riseandalpine  9 месяцев назад +3

      These parts of the mountain are absolutely dangerous but I wouldn't consider this slackcountry. This is 100% the Blackcomb Backcountry and if people really feel like there needs to be a disclaimer I can add one. Any time I have skins on, I'm carrying avi gear.

      @precippro 8 месяцев назад

      I go to these places all the time, have skied most all of them and always warn people that its dangerous back here, its just standard practice, and yeah the locals refer to these areas, where you take a lift up and walk back, the slackcountry.. because your leveraging the ski lifts to get there

      Slackcountry, as defined by Backcountry Access, a leading brand in snow safety, is “a term that means using ski lifts to access 'backcountry' or out of bounds terrain.” Slackcountry is not a new concept, although its popularity has grown substantially over the last decade@@riseandalpine

    • @riseandalpine
      @riseandalpine  9 месяцев назад

      @@GreatDomski Very good point! Never a bad call to harness/rope up on glaciated terrain. We were skiing downhill on all the glacier travel vs climbing and following tracks. We are also familiar with the glacier, the route and used local guide intel and felt comfortable cruising across. Of course, we probably should have all worn harnesses. No down side.
