After a resolution passed by Suffolk County in 1983 determined the plant could not be safely evacuated in the event of a nuclear accident, Governor Mario Cuomo ordered state officials to not approve any evacuation plans sponsored by LILCO which effectively stopped it from ever operating at full power. In 1989 LILCO made a deal with the state of New York to not operate the plant, with Long Island taxpayers footing the majority of its $6 Billion construction cost. The plant was decommissioned in 1994)

I remember thinking those multi CD players were so high tech, being able to just switch from one album to the next. Now we have so much music at our fingertips with literally no end, but back then, a multi CD was luxury.

    The PIONEER commercial is glorious.

this is a good collection of commercials, i don't mind the glitches in this (tracking or whatever it is) because it is really how it was watching a good vhs tape back in the day

My favorites are still the toy commercials, that CPK one was so cute. They scared me as a kid, though.

That Pioneer 6 Disc CD Player commercial was pretty cool, & the thumbnail for this volume is perfect. At the time, those multi CD players were cutting edge.

Quilted Northern Toilet Paper- The design of the girl’s head on the packaging of this Toliet Paper Brand looks almost like the girl who was on roller skates in this commercial, except with a different hair style.
Top Job- I would imagine that if someone had a kitchen that was completely designed like line art without color like the woman in this commercial did, it wouldn’t need very much cleaning.

The Window Wizard looks like he belonged at a kid’s birthday party rather than hawking windows.

Yes that’s weird. The show was retitled McMillan when Susan St. James was written off but this promo is from an earlier episode. So yes they probably just used the first name only for the advertisement.

Regarding the name change for McMillan and Wife: While the name change was due to Susan St. James leaving and her character being killed off, I'm not sure why WNYW used that title, especially since the episode featured was an earlier episode.

Arlene Dahl and Danny Aiello both seem like they downed a few drinks before visiting the set that today.

1:23 - Yeah, this story doesn’t really sit well today. Aiello’s question when she finishes also wouldn’t fly.

@11:00 I think the older kid might've accidentally shoved a glob of mayo under his collar when making room for the napkin. The tip of his ring finger was covered in it right before.

Pioneer 6 Disc CD Player-classic 80s set design..this and ads for Technics and Sanyo used similar aesthetics
Quilted Northern Toilet Paper-might've needed a lot more than that
Top Job-had no idea Jean"Moebius"Giraud(r.i.p) was into interior design 😄
Breyers Yogurt-loved doing this trick putting it in the freezer
McMillan-hopefully none of those dogs had rabies
    Kentucky Fried Chicken-with Eva LaRue
Windowizards-good title for a 80s cartoon or live-action show about magic uses who specialize in opening dimensional portals
People's Bank-"..a banker wouldnt be breathing down my neck like you are."
1010 Wins Radio-a year later that slogan would be used by a Detroit-based news show called Media Break..
Meineke-first lady is "NOT GOING TO PAY A LOT FOR THIS MUFFA!!!" 🤣
