Really have gotten sorta addicted to this channel. It's interesting to figure when commercial memories begin. I was about 3 years old when these aired. I feel like I don't really start remembering these compilations until they hit the year I was about 7 or 8.
This is one of the best '70s volumes to date. Just chock full of greatness (and not-so-greatness)! Even includes a local voiceover tag that starts with a rare exhale-inhale (9:30)
Lots of dead NYC area stores in this video! RIP Caldor, TSS Stores, Disc-o-mat, Sam Ash (their biggest store in the middle of New York closed in March of this year after 100 years in business), also RIP WNEW-FM.
Oh man I had a Challenger/Galant/Sapporro like that but in orange. Heavy and underpowered. Got sideswiped(hit and run) by a car with no headlights on which luckily only damaged the passenger door. Replaced it with a brand new Toyota truck in '87.
National Lampoon's Animal House-imagine had there been a sequel..we'd have Senator Bluto possibly becoming President Memorex-never try the "shatter glass with high notes" trick at home Schlitz Malt Liquor-thankfully none of them wore red McDonald's Go Bananas Shake-with Michael D.Roberts Saturday Night Live-Norman Lear(r.i.p) did a good Chevy Chase impression at @5:38 The Deadly Game-Andy Griffith as a action hero..? Donahue-being senile might also turn you into a ice skater 😆 PCP PSA-Stay away from it..if it doesnt kill you,Mr Blake will 😱 Playtex Free Spirit Bra-had thought this was a SNL skit at first California Jam 2-sad to hear about Aerosmith..they had a good run Genya Ravan-her song "Love Is A Fire" was featured in The Warriors,in the scene where they met the Lizzies("THE CHICKS ARE PACKED!!!") Agree Shampoo-with Paul Rossilli Freshen-up Gum-that police officer would later become the commissioner of Hazzard County.. Playtex Instead Bra-a.k.a the"My Eyes Are Up Here" brand
Perdue Oven Stuffer Roaster- The Roast Chicken at 1:29 has the highest elevated legs I’ve ever seen a Roasted Chicken have. Milk- With the amount of things that the people in this commercial say that Milk does, is there anything it can’t do? Sam Ash Pre Inventory Sale- I never knew that Sam Ash ever made commercials for TV before. I think the company went bankrupt recently and closed all the stores.
While not his first film, Animal House would kick off the career of director John Landis, who would be one of the bigger filmmakers for a little while with films like Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London and Trading Places. Unfortunately, a tragic decision while filming his segment for The Twilight Zone Movie would completely derail his career. Three actors (two of them children) were tragically killed in an accident when a stunt went wrong. Landis was put on trial, but acquitted. Despite working regularly throughout the 80s and 90s, he never reached the heights of his earlier work. The incident still haunts the film industry today.
I remember that-what a tragedy. It happened pretty close to our home, about 15 miles away. The two children who were killed were working long after dark, which was against child labor laws. The parents weren’t told that there were going to be explosives involved. Vic Morrow was the actor who was killed along with the children.
I grew up in the 70's and i swear to you I have never ever heard of 'Quirst'! That has to be the worst name for a soda! But otherwise another groovy, far out video! Loved it! P.s i just read the full story of Quirst in the description!
Cosby and Blake back to back. Talk about a double whammy.
My late uncle loved telling the story about how he saw Animal House in the theatres at least three times.
8:08 - I remember anxiously waiting each month for my new issue of Tampon Monthly Magazine.

Boss Hogg selling Freshen Up gum. What a reversal of roles!
That Quiz Wiz game looked fun to play, a precursor to Trivial Pursuit which came out 4 years later
My parents got me Quiz Wiz for Christmas one year when I was a kid. It was a great game.
Quirst is right up there with Aspen and Like, for forgotten sodas that were actually pretty darn good!
I remember Aspen and Like, but not Quirst.
7:36. - The acting here is so subtle and natural, I feel like I’m listening in on a real conversation…
Gotta love those Schlitz Malt Liquor ads of the 70s to the late 80s. I wonder what happened to that bull from the Schlitz Malt Liquor commercials.

4:36 McDonald's really needs to bring this shake back.
Sorrell Booke as the sheriff in the Freshen-Up commercial took me by surprise!
Boss Hogg pushing gum!! 😃

We need beer shampoo again
Before watching, I didn't realize that Phil Donahue was still alive...
Well that comment aged well…

Feel like a Quirst LOL
0:31 Kinda weird and surprising to see a t.v commercial for a product that is "NOT AVAILABLE IN ALL AREAS"
It was a nationally aired ad. Some products advertised nationally aren't available in all areas.
It must not have been available in Southern California because I don’t remember Quirst at all!
