8:43 "Full of FIRE and Brilliance!" I grew up with that Blue Star Ring Commercial in Philadelphia. That description has never left my mind!

I had to live with my parents in-laws house after having a car accident, they had that same bed still, and it was very comfortable.

One ring for 14.95 or two for 28.00. Wow. The savings are incredible.

I used to love US News and World Report. Sorta miss the simpler days of magazines.

5:17--I have to admit that as much as I love old commercials, this one is a bit long-winded for my taste.

Ok that Sci-Fi Theater bumper is creepy, then we get beds in space, THEN we get the 1970s version of a music visualization program!

How much gum did we chew in the late 70's?

    • @lynseychinnery5707

Apparently a lot! since it's seems they advertise it then as much as we advertise cell phones now.

Is that Steve Guttenberg in the Honda commercial at the beginning?

0:39--A great Dentyne jingle with a fun "old-timey" feel (even for the 1970's).
1:39--I love the marching band motif in the Honda commercial. I believe Honda was more famous for motorcycles than cars back then.
4:17--I'm not sure what the music used in the Trident Mints commercial is, but it reminds me of the whistled version of "Sweet Georgia Brown" that is the theme music for the Harlem Globetrotters.
7:47--"4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugarless gum for their patients who chew gum." I was only in my single digit years when that iconic slogan was used in commercials, but I remember it very well.

I don’t think anyone would stand for having “counterfeit” in their product names these days. Now we see jewelry with lab-created stones advertised as “simulated”.

1:10--Me too, although I've never heard of that chain. We don't have them in my home state of Iowa. From what I saw on Google, it looks like they are based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Something I found interesting about the Brenda Lee ad -- unless my count was off, 19 out of 20 songs were revealed. It is a longer ad, but even informercials try not to reveal *everything*.

I was shocked when I realized the female sitting next to the guy in the theater in the Dentyne commercial was actually his GIRLFRIEND. I thought she was his MOTHER at first!

Anyway, i enjoyed her commmercial. i kinda wish musical artists still did that.

Sci-Fi Theater-more like it should be "Horror Theater" with that graphic
Laserium-only songs that should be played for something like this would be Pink Floyd ones
Trident-Disco Danny needs more dance lessons..
Brenda Lee-was she in the Phantom Zone? Maybe Superman could break her out
Conway Twitty-havent seen him much on Family Guy these days lol

  • @elc1960

The jogging woman in that Dentyne commercial looks a lot like a girl named Marci that I dated in high school. (It's not her. The only way you'd have seen Marci running is if she'd just robbed a friggin' bank.)

I didn’t see “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree “ on the 20 best songs Brenda Lee Record. Even though I wasn’t yet born when it came out why would an album of Brenda Lee’s 20 best songs not include this holiday pop standard?

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  5 лет назад +5

She was still a popular country artist at the time and was known for other songs besides one novelty Christmas song. It also could have been a weird rights issue.

It's rather limiting that way. I suppose following that "logic" you wouldn't buy a Bing Crosby album unless it had White Christmas on it?
