I’ve got the Darkplates 1.0 in black and enjoy them. I wasn’t a fan of the 2.0 but the way you modded yours up looks superb. I’ve held off on grabbing any of the new official plates because I’m happy with my Darkplates. Thanks for the good content.

Gotta say it's pretty cool how you can costumize you're PS5 in so many ways through its plates. Not just in color or skins but also in shape.
it it's standing upright the original plates look better but laying down the darkplates 2.0 so much nicer

I like the vents on these covers. Good for the cooling of the PS5. The only thing I don't like is that it covers the PlayStation logo.
Or is it just me, but for me, these 2.0 panels look worse in the pictures on the website than in real life ...

I love the concept of the dark plates 2.0 but the only problem I have with them is I think the fan grill is such an ugly design… Dbrand could have done that so much better. Such a creative company

When I design the model for the ps5, I have calculated all the ventilation and aesthetic problem. You don't need ventilation plate. It makes more dust when there is a hole on the plate.
I was kinda thinking this, like Sony designs them in a way to have the best performance right? So there’s surely a reason why they didn’t include fan holes in their plates right?

@@ghostlegit Gamers Nexus conducted some cooling tests on the PS5 without panels (unobstructed fans). The console ran significantly cooler as shown by their data. I suggest you inform yourself a little better next time before sharing your opinion. Also, the reason I mentioned that I was primarily a PC gamer before sharing my feelings about the PS5’s ventilated panels was to give readers a frame of reference as to why I prefer airflow panels over aesthetic ones. PC gamers generally emphasize the cooling of computer components, which optimizes gaming performance. You seemed to have completely missed that, though. Went right over your head.
I’ve been looking at the dbrand darkplates 2.0 with the additional skins & light strips for about a month now. Spontaneously bought a midnight black PS5 controller yesterday and then saw Sony had pre-orders for the midnight plates and so I went with those instead, mainly because I like the original design over dbrand’s version. Plus Sony’s will be out earlier than dbrand’s 4th wave 2.0 pre-order.
Dbrand is actualy better because it’s lower PS5 temperature. It’s super important

I like it. But I don’t mess with stickers. I’ll just slap the blacks on for the lower profile and it’ll blend in better.

In your experience do the side vents of the 2.0 have a negative effect on the cooling of the Sabrent heatsink since the vents bypass pulling air over it for optimum heat dissipation?
Without the plates the ps5 is 5% cooler so the vents should help

I drilled a hole in my ps4 pro side panel to improve airflow and it works.

@@midnightnicolas84 Having direct access to fresh air will keep the PS5 cooler and the fan won't have to spin as fast, hence less noise.
For example, my pc is much more quiet if I remove the side panel while gaming.

Man, i was unsure of the black or grey. I went with the grey, but ill be damned it looks so bright. I think i would need to see it next to a white panel to really see. Guess ill find out when they ship in jan.

Anyone that got the Dark Plates 2.0 with the fan holes on both sides. The airflow no longer flows threw the console to keep all the components cool. Now the airflow comes in from the front and out the sides with no way on cooling the components inside, causing the PS5s to overheat. The airflow comes in from the front and out the back. With Dark Plates 2.0 the airflow will not help cool the PS5. If it was to help cool the console, dont you think Sony would of done that in the first place. Sony's design was to keep the console cool, changing it will only lead to over heating.

I’m sticking to my plates without that vent. Nothing like the original look. I have a half black and white plate. I was blessed to find black PS5 plates on Amazon for $30 and it’s same quality as the white PS5 original plate. It’s called ALT on Amazon
I'm honestly chillin with the OG plates, but I HAD to slap a matte black DBrand skin for the middle panel. It matches the controller better, looks cleaner, and won't scratch. 👍
I own Dark Plates 1.0. Also ordered the New PlayStation covers as well. The funny thing is you can uncut Dbrand and just buy the middle decal and buy strictly PlayStation Plates/Covers. Cause both Dbrand and PlayStation make high quality plates. I plan to mix & Match my Plates. Since both are Black. On a small note I like 1.0 Darkplates better.

don`t have a ps5 yet but just looking into a fan that will flow the hot air out and i have 3 cats and their fur gets ever were & when the fan needs to be clean do you just open the plates and clean them ever so often or no not looking to buy extra cosmetic just the fan 2.0.

I care morte about the vent, more heat being expelled means a smoother running system. I have 6 fans in my PC with plenty of venting, super quiet, and the temp never gets above 67*

I love the darkplates 2.0 but I think the vent cutouts could use circular perforations to make it look more elegant and less tacked-on/ utilitarian, otherwise pretty badass!
It doesn't necessarily put me in mind of the PSone, but it does look pretty sexy.
They sell removable paint that’s what I used to paint my plates for only 10 bucks

No the ps5 is designed to control air flow all around the system put holes in either side of plates your restricting natural air flow I'm sure your burn the ps5 quicker but I'm no technician lol I won't be putting them on my ps5 had mine a year now cleaned it out last week as warranty is out of date and it was clean af I was shocked tbh fan needed air blowing a bit but other than that no issues
