    As you pointed out in the video: that cut is harmful for the cooling. The cooling relies on air pressure in the casing to channel air trough the heat sinks.

      I would have heated up the clear plexiglass before cutting the plate then place / clamp it to the shell so it takes its shape and done it like they did the 360’s back in the day 👍🏼

    Maybe cutting the plexiglass into shape and fitting it into the 'hole' would have worked better; if it was doable that is. It then would have fitted better without the need to have the magnet fails. Just a thought?

    Everything aside from the paint job and that awfully implemented plexi glass, this doesn't look too bad. The paint can be fixed, and the plexi glass can be heated to mold into the shape of the ps5 to create the seal, the LEDs can be reshaped and soldiered however you like. Quite decent overall, but the price is still steep

  • @BasedEMT1776
    @BasedEMT1776 11 месяцев назад +11

    It has potential, but $350 is steep AF. Quality automotive bumper grade paint that will not crack, including 2K clear coat and good primer included isn't going to come close to $300. Wiring in some LEDs, soldering it to the power source on the board, using a dremel tool and some sand paper, with some cheap acrylic plexiglass molded to the "wave" of the exterior panel and some magnets fixed on w/ screws(or a better epoxy) by my calculations even with my "labor" would be like $175. And that's kinda steep tbh, I'd feel a little bit like I was robbing you.

    if you solder to the usb, you pull power, thus making the port useless and would basically need to cap it anways or only use it for another low power device. as charging a controller, using a wired controller, usb extended storage, or any other usb device would really be fighting over the usb port only causing more issues or potential future damage. although he could have used a smaller 90 degree usb or something better.

  • @LegendaryFenrir
    @LegendaryFenrir 11 месяцев назад +5

    For what you payed, they could have painted the whole panel, both back and front for that first panel. Having a paint job like that was an 8/10 up until then. and the crackle definitely will be an issue down the road. A good clear coat could have helped prevent that when it was painted. And the glass should have been shipped removed from the console if it couldnt have been secured to the console for transit. Absolutely overpayed for this custom setup.

    Great and refreshingly honest review. The console does look pretty nice however it's a game system not a paperweight. So form over function just doesn't fly the way that plexiglass cover is designed is a complete deal breaker. For what that costs he should have had a proper gasket and functional attachment. As it sits that ruins the airflow and negates most any improvement of the heat sinks over stock.

    The PlayStation 5 that you just bought that you were saying that the paint look weird is because the person that painted it was in a rush all the words when you do paint a panel and you put Coats over Coats over Coats without waiting for 30 or 15 minutes. It will do that, we call that spiderwebs, and there's a let you know you might as well. Just send it back and let them redo it because you spent too much money. $800 in on top of it, the magnets came off. That's not even they did all right on couple stuff. But they messed up on the console and on top of that. They use cheap clear. That's not a glossy look that look like. They use the cheapest clear ever. For example, when you use a cheap clear if you ever notice a car that's the clear is coming off and the paint stays. It looks nasty luckily the sun's not gonna hit it. But I rather you send it back and let them redo it. Because you spent too much money on it. And make sure you tell them that you want to glossy. Look on the place there's a 5 not using cheap stuff on clear.
    Unless you want me to do it, I'll do it.

If you're interested, let me know and I can fix it. But make sure you get the color code so we can do the right away. Show finish instead of the crackhead finish. Honestly I don't like it. Computer case modder back in the late 90s early 2000s walked so molders now can run and this build ignores all of it. They could have inlayed the window with molding and used a heat gun to form the window slightly so there was less stain on the panel and that way panel is sealed and won't effect air pressure. The paint ranges from mediocre to horrendous. If I had to guess that's a type of plastidip for the paint because hypershift as an acrylic or enamel are expensive and the wrong clear was used, paint is uneven and I doubt any primer was used. The leds should have been tied into the power and mounted on the underside of the panel around the window. Inside should have been painted in gloss instead of semi gloss to reflect the leds better or better yet but more time consuming would be to polish the inside and the heat sinks so they really stand out. Payed alot of money for what is honestly an amateur job

      It doesn’t sound as if there was a listing promising certain specs on the mod. It appears it was just seen on insta and the guy was reached out to and asked to make a duplicate. If things like what you’re referring to were that important to your overall experience with the console, it would be something to ask when ordering since your standards compared to general PS5 user standards may be higher. If something wasn’t promised and you have elevated standards on what should be done for the mod to be satisfactory to you, either mod it yourself or ask the business you’re employing to clarify the specifications of the mod before putting in your order.

    350 dollars to cut a hole in it, paint it, and run an RGB strip? That is a terrible deal even if I liked how it looked. There is, at best, 30 dollars worth of material, and I'd estimate 5-6 hours of labor on a good day. Sorry, but that's a rip off from every single angle.

    I can't believe you paid someone to basically destroy your PS5

    Not great but not terrible I’ve seen worse modding. The cuts were pretty good I’ll give the guy that the controller was good the glass was bad the usb cable was bad and the painting was bad other than the controller.

    Yeah that thing is gonna over heat, it’s clear that the guy who customized it knows nothing about the engineering aspect of game systems.
