You must have been a teacher (by birth) in your past life. After watching all the 'professionals' talk about this product, your video is what has made us take the leap of faith into the SC 2 Pro kit, which we are ordering tomorrow.
protip: you can now control focus motor with raveneye. what this means is 1 person could do the movement with their feet and holding the gimbal. the second operator could litterely use raveneye with the phone tracking mode and control focus or way beter imo the zoom, you can get INSANE professional shots with this
this guy taught me how to just dial in the dji rsc 2 so well, far better than DJI Tutorials. gotta check out the fitness page too cuz my man swole as well
Kept finding videos about the RSC, but not the RSC2. They look a little different and im so glad I found yours! Used the plate setup and its soooo cool!
Just so you know, you can configure the motor without the belt. If the lens already has a builtin rubber track on it like my Canon EF lenses do, the motor works directly against the lens without the need of a belt. Oh, and just for clarification - I use it for the zoom feature using the front dial rather than for focus. Far more useful than actually using the motor for manual focus.
Thanks for the video. I just ordered the DJI RSC2 today for my Canon M6 Mark ii with the pro combo and I will definitely be watching this again when it arrives!!! Side note, huge guns man... I believe they want the gear motor on the left side because if it was on the right side the control would be reversed.
I see what you're saying! That makes sense but Canon had other plans in mind with their USB port locations lol. Either way, I'm sure you'll love it. I have the pro Combo and I use it with the M6 Mark II and that setup works great all the time.
Thanks for the tutorial! My only feedback I have in regards to the focus motor and managing to pull focus with the supplied gear focus strip for the lens is that the motor isn't 100% pulling focus accurately as it should, despite tightening it to max, my still lens would turn to some degree and then stop. I then used my Tokina 11-20mm wide zoom cinema lens with built in gear pitch 0.82 rings for focus and zoom. That actually worked better and the focus motor worked best for cine lenses. Just thought I'd let ppl know.
THX Bruv after your video I decided to start use follow focus motor, so may be you have any ideas how could I to use it when I mount all this stuff on my Manfrotto tripod, probably any other controllers may I add on for use it in same way as on my Ronin? I hope that's a good quest peace out from Moscow!
It works with the RSC2? Their website says it doesn't support it, and so does the forum. How did you get it to work? oops i thought you were talking about the lidar focus...sorry.
Quick question. You mentioned 8f you had a zoom lens you could zoom as well as focus motor control. How can it do this with only one focus motor attached?
My usbc cord keeps breaking and the other ones don’t work I have a big shoot tomorrow and I use it to pull focus n idk what to do is there a setting for other usbc things to work
hey bro. Can we use the front dial to focus without ordering the focus motor and wheel? I have a Sony a9 and I want the front dial to just control the focus without me ordering the focus motor separately. Thanks a lot
Thanks for this! Question- can you use the focus motor without the gimbal, I’m building my mini cine cam and so just wondered if I can utilise it Thanks
Shouldn't DJI make a controller you can control the Focus wheel without gimble? Cause it basically just needs power and a dial Vs having to buy a SmallRig follow focus?!
This was very helpful! Thank you! I do have a question though…. If you have a zoom lens mounted, is there an option to use two focus motors? One for zoom and one for focus? If so, how would you use that.
great tutorial - however - could You make one about focus motor calibration. DJI manual is kind different to stuff in the box because its refer to focus wheel (some additional device with switch set focus range on the lens). but in common configuration with RSC2 there is no such a wheel and calibration seems to by only manual but every time i'm trying do that (sony a6400 + sigma 16mm) focus motor then achieve max/min range (because od strip lock) starts jump over the focus strip - tried tight screw as much as possible on focus motor on rod but seems that no effect. Wondering how do that if lens like sigma 16 has no min/max focus range and only strip lock can be border to 360 degree roll.
Anyone experience with zoom motor? I mean to use it for changing the zoom. How is it with the balancing, and do the motors heat up too much? By the way nice video, thanks!
How do you calibrate it with a lens with hard stops? Every time I do it, it won’t sense the hard stop of my rokinon lens and keeps going in the same direction and grinds against the gear
Hey man, great video. I am having an issue where the focus motor keeps slipping of the 12mm rod. It feels as if that bottom tightening screw just can’t grip onto the rod properly. Have you experienced this at all? It is super annoying and makes the focus motor near useless. I have resorted to padding the clap with paper or using the lens mount strap to hold it in place but I am pretty sure that’s just a hacky solution.
I have the same exact problem, the screw on clamp does not go beyond certain distance and it is blocked by the second hole , and no one talk about it , i hope i can find a fix or as you said the motor becoming useless
Bro the focus motor red light is blinking all the time and it's not working as well....i didn't bought the focus motor with the gimbal itself..i previously bought it with my Ronin SC earlier..help me out ...
Thanks mate, watched this and your video about the Raven eye, helped a lot. Got a question for you, I have a Panasonic G9 and after setting up the Raven eye and getting it to work for some reason I need all 3 USB ports to get it working , so I don’t have a spare usb socket for the focus motor. Any ideas? I’m guessing you only use 2 USB ports on the gimbal so have a spare to power the focus motor.
Really liked your video Thanyou! ...it would be great if you could speak just a bit slow. 🙂 Also, the distinction of using focus motor for zoom control vs focus control could have been clearer.
I've just got one of this for my rsc2 but it makes a terrible and really loud sound noise. I can't use it when I need to record the audio straight from my camera. People on internet say it's a problem of the last firmware, but actually we can hear it from this video too... pls somebody tell me I'm wrong
My focus motor seems to think its stuck in auto focus for some reason. BMPCC camera is not compatible "data-wise" with the rsc2. I did everything as supposed to but the motor just "jams" into place, cant move it by hand either. Little light is green, front dial is set to "focus motor" but nothing at all happens when i turn it. Been 4 hours now. HELP.
Man, I have a really important question for you. When you attached the camera to a gimbal how high bottom of m50 from the ground? ( I mean ground, where the gimble stays. Table etc ) This is really important for me and I will appreciate it a lot if you gonna help me.
awesome, once again a great tutorial! beside me using the same setup and therefore needing/using the instructions/tips you give yo make a very complete tutorial on each subject. Would you happen to have a tip on how to set up the M50 with dji rsc2 and not tangle/force the usb-c/hdmi cables going from the camera body. Do you know any 90 degree connectors that are working 100%. Im a hobby film maker and adventurist, let me know if you ever come to Italy
@@techbymidas I will let you know when and if i find ones that work properly (regarding the data transfer) as the M50 is a bit unlucky having the ports on the right side of its body. Cheers!
Your videos are great, I really like the way you explain. I have a question: I use my A7siii and if I use my RSC2 front dial I can already change the focus. What is the difference if I would use the focus motor? Would be great if you know the difference! Cheers!
It's more precise and responsive with the focus motor especially since the gear system is what rotates the camera lens physically compared to using just the front dial.
It's actually for manual cine lenses that can not communicate with the camera. Also Sony a7s iii has amazing autofocus and so does the canon m50 except in its cropped 4K.
Helpful video. Amazing production. You got a new follower without a doubt man! I was wondering if you have used the motor with a zoom lens. And how you handle zoom/focus. Thanks!
So If I understand this correctly, if I connect the gear to the zoom ring, I can use the front dial to zoom in and out, while the camera is set to auto focus? or am I understanding this incorrectly?
I bought a DJU RSC-2 gimbal yesterday and now I need to build biceps like you. Nice video. Thank you for this.
I regret not getting the pro combo, product description on amazon did not make it clear that you needed the pro combo to make it to do the cool stuff.
You must have been a teacher (by birth) in your past life. After watching all the 'professionals' talk about this product, your video is what has made us take the leap of faith into the SC 2 Pro kit, which we are ordering tomorrow.

@@diceflawless9115 with a motor inside the lens through a USB cable between the gimbal and camera with an ef lens
When using it for zoom ...wouldn't moving the lens back and forth to zoom throw the gimbal out of balance?

Thank you very much from Trieste (Italy)
can you only use the front dial for focus pulling with a canon 5d mark 3 or do you need the focus motor?
if you want to use the focus wheel JUST to zoom with the gear and keep the front dial to pull focus do you even need plug it in to the rsc 2?
How else would it get power to the motor?
THX Bruv after your video I decided to start use follow focus motor, so may be you have any ideas how could I to use it when I mount all this stuff on my Manfrotto tripod, probably any other controllers may I add on for use it in same way as on my Ronin?
