I love that you are composting and using bath water in your garden. Have you thought about getting a rain barrel to collect rain water for your garden? I know it must have felt good to work in your garden and then relax after all of your hard work. I’m envious that you have a stress free life. I’m working hard to reduce the stress in my life. Wish me luck!

I hadn't thought about that! It's a good idea ☺️. If I need more water, it would be nice to install it. Yes, home gardening makes me feel really good and gives me a sense of accomplishment.
I wish you luck! Please take care of yourself and try not to overwork too much 😢.

cocinar tus platos sencillos y saludables

Another great video. You start the day with coffee which I do as well. Great that you took up gardening it will give you great satisfaction when it starts bearing fruits. Miso soup is my favourite and alsways have it in the pantry. In the winter or generaly when I dont feel well it is like medicine for me. I never knew you can fry lotus root. I always boil it. You have million dollar views! If I can make one sugestion. Do a mention of your guide business in description bellow your videos. That might make people that plan to visit Nagasaki boook you. There's always something fulfilling about doing gardening work, whether it's planting and growing your own fruits and vegetables, or if you're mowing your lawn and doing some maintenance. Even if you're living in an apartment, it's still possible to grow your own herbs and spices. I wouldn't be surprised if my workplace successor in Nagasaki is actually doing that now in my former apartment - it's something we talk about once in a while.
I miss the view from the top of the new City Hall building. It's a massive difference compared to the previous building in Sakuramachi, which was drab in comparison. If you can spot "Hotel Marine World" from there, that's basically the street where I lived.
If you ever visit Melbourne in the future, let me know. I'm more than happy to bring you to Yarra Valley, which is full of wineries.

    • @life_in_nagasaki
      @life_in_nagasaki  4 месяца назад +1

Yes, doing gardening work makes me relaxed and gives me a sense of accomplishment ☺️.
In Nagasaki, it's surprising how much the city's scenery and atmosphere can change dramatically in just a few years. I think you lived in the city center 👀. I think Nagasaki will always be waiting for your return 😆
I really want to visit Melbourne, Australia someday (I hope the Japanese yen will be stronger in the future 😂).

@@life_in_nagasaki Ever since I moved back to Australia, I’ve been doing a lot of lawn mowing, both at home and at my younger brother’s house. When my brother started his own business, he became too busy to work on his lawn, so I would go over once every few weeks to help with the gardening there. At least I get free coffee from his shop in return.
I’m tentatively planning to visit Nagasaki towards the end of March next year, around spring break. I’ve got a couple of friends to catch up with, and there are a couple of bakeries I need to revisit again. For the record, 籠町に住んでった。
Fingers crossed that the exchange rate will be good enough in the near future.

Hi Nagasaki-san - with regard to sharpening your knives you used a sharpening stone - these are good for flat knives - but for a knife with a sharp edge you would be better using a "sharpening steel" - Knife Sharpener Rod, 33.02 cm Carbon Steel Professional Knife Sharpening Steel - you can purchase them from any hardware store - or second hand shop - or on line - they are not expensive about 500 yen and are excellent for knife with sharp edge to stay sharp. Great Video today - lets continue to do our best! Kind regards - John Perth, Australia

Enjoying more of your everyday life in beautiful Nagasaki. Suggestions: A little bit of salt or shoyu goes well with fried renkon. And, watching you slice, I'm worried about your fingertips! Do you know the usual Japanese method of curling the fingers of your left hand? Very good for safety. If the object doesn't sit firmly, you can make a thin (horizontal) cut so it will sit flat on the board.

Oh hello! Thank you very much for the Ukrainian subtitles! I watched the video and thought that it would be interesting to compare the "cost of the grocery basket". But we only sell enoki, tofu, brown rice, vegetables... I can't imagine how natto tastes, and the miso that we sell is too different from what you have in the video, I think it affects the taste a lot and you can't compare. Also, we don't have lotus root and various things for cooking "dashi". By the way, enoki are rarely sold in our country, we like porcini mushrooms the most. Have you ever tasted porcini mushrooms?

A good idea 👍🏼 would be to go to restaurants and make videos about the many great dishes they have there. I have a question please! Since it's a bit hard to get hold of Niboshi in Europe, could I also use (and this is important now) frozen anchovies? Or just dried ones???
