The way the panels open up here to give you greater access, while still retaining enough rigidity so that you could open this from the side and not worry about stuff falling out-- extremely cool. A front pocket designed to work like a 2L (or like a desk caddy!) is fantastic.
Nice explanation, its like a really small version of those mystery ranch tri zips. But the hatch on top is faster and easier than having to extra zippers there to keep it closed.
to be transparent, this will likely be a premium add-on. I found one of the best keyleash manufacturers in the world, but they are expensive, so instead of increasing the price of the bag and making it included so everyone has to pay for it, I'll likely lower the bag price, and sell them seperately to anyone who wants the add on
This bag isn't my thing aesthetically (just been into more heritage-y stuff lately), but your passion, thoughtfulness, and honesty in the comments section about where other bags might be better than your own for specific use cases is all really admirable. The hatch is a really cool design, hope this thing's a success!
totally understood, it's def not a heritage vibe, but we did choose a classic backpack silhouette as to avoid being too modern/jet-pack-y. And yea, my goal is to get this bag into the hands of people who will get great use out of it, so if a different bag will be better for someone's use case, I'll be the first to point them in the right direction 💪
More short feature tours like this would be great... looking forward to your next prototype iteration to learn about the cool features you will be adding.
I like the centered design that helps if you like to swing your bag to one side or the other. Reminds me of the Gregory rhune 20 vertical zip quick access.
We can clearly tell you have put countless hours into the functionality of the backpack. I think that's what appeals most to me, aside from how amazingly cool it looks. I own too many backpacks to count, but they all fall short in some areas and excell in others. Your backpack seems to be the perfect balance for my everyday style. The quick access panel is brilliant. I haven't seen anything that covers a quick access pocket from every angle like that before.
Appreciate this so much dude, the work we’ve put into this bag has been crazy but I want to go to market with something really unique and functional and we are almost there!!
I like the purpose of this hatch, and I believe I would really use it for several of my smaller things to take with me, probably not for my water bottle or my umbrella, but I believe there’s some extra place for that on the side of the backpack, right?
Correct! We have a storable water bottle solution which is ideal for bottles, umbrellas, tripods, and similar sized items. And if you want to have a more streamlined carry-day, you can stow it away. Best of both worlds!
awesome to hear! I really have realized that since it's such a bold design choice, it's gonna take some explaining to really show its full value. More videos like this on the way!
Love the hatch.. one consideration if you are putting sun glasses and keys so you don’t get scratched sunglasses - maybe a padded section specific for sunglasses?
Welcome to designing soft goods. I guess that’s the reason there are so many different packs out there. Everyone has different needs and uses. I like the locking zip puller. I am not that organized so I would rather have that be a bigger pocket in the front and the zipper be to one side so the pocket is deeper. I also am not convinced about the get to things on the go demonstration. I’ve seen that demonstrated on other bags before, and not sure if that matches up to real life? I don’t know. Overall, it looks great!
Thanks dude! And yea, I’ll be very clear that this design will not give you the fastest/quickest access to your gear. Modern Dayfarer Backpack and Evergoods CPL24 still do that best (but our access is still pretty damn fast 🔥 😜). Each bag has its own benefits - it’s a great time to be in the carry community with so many options
Didn't get it either until I watched this and went: 'Hell f*****g yes! Someone finally gets it!' All other bags you need to fight the bag to stay in place, wrestle with zippers or the pockets are too limiting. Good job on the hatch!
The Hatch is awesome, so many variables and different kinds of stuff that you can put inside with quick access, which for me is essential! A 2L sling! Perfect way of describing it!
great question! Two of the pockets can fit up to a passport (which is the same a a b7 sized notebook) and aside from that all of the items you mentioned should generally fit in The Hatch as a whole :)
Great work Aaron 👍 I’ll be honest not the biggest fan of the look(probably the minority) but the quick access system is amazing and well thought out. Keep up the good work
no worries! no single backpack is for everyone - we all have different taste, and it's a great time for us bag lovers since there are so many options out there
i am super excited for this because it is not too masculine hopefully you can come up with gray or same color as the other bag you were showing (orange?tan?) i wish you have international shipping not just to the US since i am moving back to the Phils from the US early next year or maybe i can just pick it up from HK since it is just 1.5 hour away.
I'm hoping to test/launch with other colors soon. The goal for shipping = international but rates will vary depending on the country. Don't worry though - we'll keep everything as budget-friendly as possible
It’s genius how the quick access was inspired from sling bags..on the left and right opening doors (idk what its called lol) you can also add quick access slots for pen/stylus..is this more of an EDC bag?..how many litres is the bag?..I’m excited with the full review 😊
thanks dude! It's a 21L bag that can expand to 26L. And I def. see where you are coming from with the Mous comparison, but also they are very different. The Mous lid leads into the main compartent, and has ben done on other bags already like the Modern Dayfarer Backpack, Peak Design Everyday Backpack, and others. the Fyro style of leading to a smaller compartment in the front is very unique :)
I love this! TBH I've ignored every post about your backpack-in-making because I don't see myself in the market for a new backpack anytime soon, if ever. Plus trying to keep myself out of another spend habit gear area:) But this vid totally makes me want to know more about this bag! Great job!
Wow! I’m excited to get a hold of this bag! I’m not sure I ‘d trust a water bottle where I place my AirPods… if I decided on a the bottle on long train ride in Europe, I’d add tissue… snacks etc… and use a tech bag… I am impressed so far..,
I like the quick access, I don’t think I’d ever put a water bottle in there though. I like have unobstructed access to my water bottles (granted that’s more for outdoor stuff where I have to reach for it and sip very often not office work). I hope you out some daisy chains on the shoulder straps or some sort of loops. I dig the minimal design but I think that would give a good aesthetic (a la Prvke but not nearly as many!) plus I use shoulder strap daisy chains to hang my headphones from a carabiner since they are not earbuds and wouldn’t fit into small compartments. Overall though, very excited to see this and I absolutely LOVE that it stands on its own!!
Neat, but why do you need the top flap part of the hatch. Couldn’t it just be a zipper along the middle? Btw, I think the pocket layout inside the hatch is 🔥
The access on the move when you swing the backpack to the side is great. However, when you have the backpack upright, I feel like the zipper flaps are kinda blocking the bottom corners of either side of the pocket. The zipper goes all the way down towards the end of the pocket, making it a full access feel, but in actuality, it is obstructed by the inaccessible flap corners, which feels like it might give an uncomfortable cramped feel on the hand.
@@Nomads.Nation I think I could partially relate to the email you got - the access seemed pretty tight - but man, that explanation of that its like a 2L sling attached was the light bulb and such a great connection to your early designs on Day 0 when it had that modular sling attachment - that one comment stitched it all together to me and I could link the evolution. Looks great and now I can see how it fits your EDC in an accessible way.
@@jpmccarthy33 totally agree on the email, it actually gave ME a lightbulb moment as well; I was like 'whoa, I really need to clear this up' 😂. I love how much thought you've clearly put into this bag, Aaron. Definitely gonna be one of the first people in line when y'all launch this thing!
My brain feels dead most nights lol but it’s nice to now the juices are flowing in the right direction
Looks great! And the Fyro stands up with expansion option! Keep the expansion Aaron, makes bag more unique)))

Nice explanation, its like a really small version of those mystery ranch tri zips. But the hatch on top is faster and easier than having to extra zippers there to keep it closed.

that was the original idea but that didn't work so we just sewed it onto the bag itself haha
