    The 508 even looks cool outside of skating. And it’s tough and durable? Gotta snag some!

    super helpful and thorough review. I think that is the key here with the New Balance Numeric line is getting them at a good price. Seems like at retail you're not getting your value. If you get them at 30% off of better they're a wonderful value. I only have the NB 212 Skate shoes and if I paid full price I wouldn't be happy.

      I would agree- a lot of their shoes seem a bit high for what you really get, especially the new Tiago’s are about $110 I think. That’s not to say they don’t come with some tech features but considering most shoes last about 2 months it’s hard to justify the cost!

    I agree with what you said about them. I have the 440s also. I found them to be a snugger fit in the heal. The heal feels a little loose to me. Like you said, they are very comfortable immediately. Don't seem like they need breaking in at all. Also, I agree about the heel flip part of the shoe. I've been thinking that shoe makers should beef that section up some right on the collar. Would be nice to have some extra leather or suede there. I don't do heel flips, but, I wear that section a lot just doing ollies.

      Totally hear you on this! Even if you don’t heelflip the added protection never really hurts IMO. :)

    That's a really thorough review. I had read online the 508 were prone to heel slippage, I guess because of the heel collar being so soft. Just wondered what your experience was. I'm looking at these or the 440s as my first venture into non-vulcs.

    • @Skatebetter
      @Skatebetter  2 года назад +3

      Thanks my g. I would say heel slippage was not an issue in this shoe for me but it was close to being an issue lol. The 440 seemed a little more secure imo. The biggest difference for me was the toe cap- the 440 is somewhat wider and “squarish” while the 508 was more traditional. Both shoes i enjoyed skating for different reasons (the 508 was a bit lighter as well). Hope that helps!

      @@Skatebetter cheers mate, these kind of reviews are really useful because even if you visit a skate shop to try a shoe on, you have like 10 mins max to make a decision you will only be able to tell if it was good one in a couple of weeks. Out of curiosity in your opinion which was most vulc like?

    • @Skatebetter
      @Skatebetter  2 года назад +1

      @@jameskirkland8598 100% the 508 had more board feel. It’s also worth mentioning the 440 had a more structured feeling while the 508 was a little more “flimsy,”- not in a bad way, just depends on your preference.

    How would you compare the 440 to the 508? I'm on the fence between the two. I have pretty wide/flat feet and the 440s look good for that but the 508 looks more durable. What do you think?

    • @Skatebetter
      @Skatebetter  2 года назад +1

      I would go with the 440. They are a little wider and a little more durable (at least in leather that i had) in my opinion. They are both very comfortable and have similar board feel.

    I got a deal on the Etnies Joslin 1s. 30% off and then also on a 3 for 2 deal. Never skated a cupsole or the Joslins. But bought three of them on the chance that I would enjoy them. While I haven’t skated them yet I’ve got to say that they are incredibly comfortable so far.
    Those New Balances look very clean and I wouldn’t have thought it was a skate shoe to be honest from the look of it.

    • @Skatebetter

      That’s a heck of a deal on them Etnies- def have heard amazing things about the Joslin 2’s so I’ve been curious to check any of his shoes out!
      And I agree- the NB definitely look like a trainer shoe to me also lol.

      @@Skatebetter insoles in the 1s are alrite but I think it might be better in the 2s. But the ankle padding and support is really nice.

      Joslin 1 is the best skate shoe. For real I have 28 Pairs from NB to Nike SB, Adidas and so on. The Joslin 1 was good right out the box and it's got best flick cuz the rubber to is UNDER the suede and it has good protection from the cupsole and puffy tongue. I like the look from other shoes more but straight up for skating the Joslin 1 takes the cake for me

    • @RikRiorik
      @RikRiorik 2 года назад +1

      @@MickyThunderV I’m plenty alrite with the more 90s look of the Joslin. So far I’m digging them a whole lot.

      @@MickyThunderV Another co-sign on the Joslins! I wonder what they’re like compared to the es accels as I always thought they look similar in structure.

    Did these have a lot of room in the toebox or for wider feet?

    • @Skatebetter
      @Skatebetter  2 года назад +1

      Not really- not as wide as the 440 IMO. It’s not super narrow and has a bit of a square toe, but not as wide as some other shoes as the middle and heel felt pretty snug- and i have a narrow foot. Hope that helps!

      Yes- they have a wider toe box but overall board feel and durability is similar and i personally found them more comfortable

    Perhaps surprisingly, this is one of Westgate's least tech signature shoes. I like his other signature shoes a bit better. The New Balance 913 is nice, but it's a bit of a pinky toe crusher.
    I just wish I had stocked up on his Emerica Westgate G6 shoes while I had the chance.
