Plus they don't even pay him and is uaed as a scapegoat so he's really useful in that regard.

also purchase of a private island using employee funds is illegal and embezzlement, him claiming it wasn’t. that was the joke

I strongly, *strongly* suspect that the prison conviction was a pretense and that he is on the shadow board. Otherwise his entire story arc from the second half of the season would've been pointless.

Jr is a interesting character. On one hand he is fairly smart and competent since he did hire Bret and on the other he is very greedy, corrupt, and the team has to clean up his messes. Yet he's so entertaining.
This actually makes a whole lot more sense considering JR's and Rand Ridley's backstory
