Depending on the cop, window tint is good probable cause for a stop, for drug hunting and what not. Me, I’ll pull you over all day for tint but if you don’t have drugs and no warrants, you’ll be off with a warning. I had other plans, not making you pay for your tint. Only time I’d give it for tint is if the person is rude and gives me a hard time before i tell them they were getting a warning.
I laughed a little too hard. I had a late model car with tint and some nice aftermarket rims. I was at a McDonald’s drive thru and a police officer was literally waiting in the parking lot just to pull me over for tint and having my license plate in the windshield (visible from all angles in the front). Officer said my plate was not visible. Better yet, there’s people in my area with tinted windshields, no insurance, etc that manage to get away with it.

Also the fact that it exist as a rule or policy and law means will always be someone who breaks the rules and policies and laws.. reality is that statistically speaking, most good people break stupid laws like tint laws than bad guys do, and more bad guys this get away with shit because too busy bothering good people. I got a ticket for my 1% a few weeks ago. I had a spare clear window from a dented door I replaced, so went to the junk yard and got the other side window for $55. Swapped the windows out in 30min, and got the ticket dismissed for $10. Swapped the tinted windows back in a week later 😂. $65 was better than the $217 ticket

I have a small area nearby to me that’s like that and strictly enforces every law. I got stopped for some bs and the judge waved everything for me when I went to court. There is several other people driving around with no insurance and whatever else that is highly illegal but proceed to get people for such minor violations rather then focus more on the more serious violators. I kid you not, I know someone that has a motorized bicycle because he can’t get a drivers license and on a fixed income. His bicycle does not go faster than 30MPH, the speed limit was 35MPH, he got a ticket for speeding on a bike that maxes out at 30 in a 35. The officer didn’t tell him the speed he was going, and still had to go to court.
Been there myself over the years. Tores sticking out and exhaust loud, but the tint is the culprit lol. Since my 35% windshield tinting its been a little more often than before. But man I swear it is safer with the windshield done. No glare in the day and no headlamp brightness at night. The 20% strip over the top males it look like a 5% strip and helps, but the cut out at the inspection sticker is the ultimate giveaway lol. In PA, my window tint and offset wheel fines have been around $150.

It’s dark enough to provide some shade and privacy but still light enough that the officers can see through the vehicle and see occupants

You should put a police sticker on the back of you truck window so when they pull you over and give you a ticket, you say ok let me out for a second I have something to show you then go to the window and rip the police sticker off it
Window tint violations give officers probable cause to stop the vehicle to check for more serious stuff. You have to work and so do the officers. Just have it tinted to 20% and they won't bother you. Anything lower than that than its your fault.
I like dark windows bc my truck is a regular cab and like when I go hunting or something and leave a gun in the truck I don't want people to see it 😤 😒 I see nothing wrong with dark windows
Take a picture of your truck before the window tint and when you go up there to show them the old pictures and you can still keep your tint on and the ticket will be dropped
My local county cops rarely pull anyone over except for anything more serious than tint. I see tinted windshields everywhere in my area and the cops just keep on rolling by. Plus they have more important things worth doing to keep everyone safe

That's okay my brother-in-law at the time was in the Marines Arab BMW M3 he was on his way to base and was pulled over buy a State Trooper and received a ticket for his window tint when he explained to the police officer the reason why he tents his windows so dark because usually he has his uniform and military weapon somewhere in the vehicle so he did not want people to see and steal it from his car the state trooper did not care and still gave him a ticket for his window tint and like I said umbrella in law is a officer when he was in the Marines serving our country nice huh

I would have asked the officer to show the device working correctly on their window. It makes sense why tints on the front are penalized so much, it can pose a risk to cops. Even in the UK we have to allow 70% of light through the front windows at least

Got 5% but I'm a cop and our dept guy installed it so it helps but if I see cops I drop windows in front especially when out of area but also if I get pulled over I drop all windows even in the rain or snow and hands out the window at night I pop on my interior lights I make it as safe and easy for a cop because I know what a traffic stop can be and what goes threw ur head.
You can actually fight the ticket. No electronic device to measure the percentage of tint. Is he actually certified windows tint expert? Also, you'll need to file a complaint due to placing his dirty hands inside your door panels...
Just tint them legal and buy some window screens or the tack on kind. I live in Texas and the best tint doesn't keep the sun's radiating heat from cooking me. I just went to Pep Boys and got a couple of static cling on, thick covers. It helped with the heat and you definitely can't see through it. Just put them on/ take them off as needed.
Total BS, Trooper should have approached vehicle from the passenger side of the truck and initiated the stop....fact that the Trooper flew by you, flipped a U-Turn and stopped you for dark window tint is absurd. Keep Calm & Carry On!
Could be worse... I had an AL Trooper write me a tint fix it ticket a few years ago. I removed it and took it to the Alabaster police dept to have a cop sign off on it. The woman behind the glass took my ticket walked to the back and then came brought it back to me signed. They never came out and looked at my car! I could have left it on. I'm taking my truck to Pelham/Riverchase on Monday to get the front windows tinted 20%. Hopefully I don't have the luck you had last time when Pelham pulled you over lol.

I have a I black esv caddy. 5% on all windows. 35% on windshield. 4.5 years and got my 1st ticket in October. A NC trooper got me 2 miles from my home. Said my windshield was the problem. I got a receipt from tint guy saying he removed it. Case was dismissed. Bit I haven't put 100 miles on it since. It's my garage art and I'm car poor anyways! Hell I can't drive 5 vehicles but I pay insurance on them!

Only doing 50mpg. State trooper following behind me for awhile. Get off the parkway he is still following. Rite by the stable I get pulled over. There is several other people driving around with no insurance and whatever else that is highly illegal but proceed to get people for such minor violations rather then focus more on the more serious violators. I kid you not, I know someone that has a motorized bicycle because he can’t get a drivers license and on a fixed income. His bicycle does not go faster than 30MPH, the speed limit was 35MPH, he got a ticket for speeding on a bike that maxes out at 30 in a 35. The officer didn’t tell him the speed he was going, and still had to go to court.

Been there myself over the years. Tores sticking out and exhaust loud, but the tint is the culprit lol. Since my 35% windshield tinting its been a little more often than before. But man I swear it is safer with the windshield done. No glare in the day and no headlamp brightness at night. The 20% strip over the top males it look like a 5% strip and helps, but the cut out at the inspection sticker is the ultimate giveaway lol. In PA, my window tint and offset wheel fines have been around $150.

It’s dark enough to provide some shade and privacy but still light enough that the officers can see through the vehicle and see occupants

You should put a police sticker on the back of you truck window so when they pull you over and give you a ticket, you say ok let me out for a second I have something to show you then go to the window and rip the police sticker off it
Window tint violations give officers probable cause to stop the vehicle to check for more serious stuff. You have to work and so do the officers. Just have it tinted to 20% and they won't bother you. Anything lower than that than its your fault.
I like dark windows bc my truck is a regular cab and like when I go hunting or something and leave a gun in the truck I don't want people to see it 😤 😒 I see nothing wrong with dark windows
Take a picture of your truck before the window tint and when you go up there to show them the old pictures and you can still keep your tint on and the ticket will be dropped

That's okay my brother-in-law at the time was in the Marines Arab BMW M3 he was on his way to base and was pulled over buy a State Trooper and received a ticket for his window tint when he explained to the police officer the reason why he tents his windows so dark because usually he has his uniform and military weapon somewhere in the vehicle so he did not want people to see and steal it from his car the state trooper did not care and still gave him a ticket for his window tint and like I said umbrella in law is a officer when he was in the Marines serving our country nice huh

Here in Phoenix I've had windows tinted dark had them for a long time since my fist car. If I go out of town I always Get pulled over for window tint specially if I go to Vegas. It's always state trooper or highway patrol.

Got 5% but I'm a cop and our dept guy installed it so it helps but if I see cops I drop windows in front especially when out of area but also if I get pulled over I drop all windows even in the rain or snow and hands out the window at night I pop on my interior lights I make it as safe and easy for a cop because I know what a traffic stop can be and what goes threw ur head.

Just tint them legal and buy some window screens or the tack on kind. I live in Texas and the best tint doesn't keep the sun's radiating heat from cooking me. I just went to Pep Boys and got a couple of static cling on, thick covers. It helped with the heat and you definitely can't see through it. Just put them on/ take them off as needed.

Could be worse... I had an AL Trooper write me a tint fix it ticket a few years ago. I removed it and took it to the Alabaster police dept to have a cop sign off on it. The woman behind the glass took my ticket walked to the back and then came brought it back to me signed. They never came out and looked at my car! I could have left it on. I'm taking my truck to Pelham/Riverchase on Monday to get the front windows tinted 20%. Hopefully I don't have the luck you had last time when Pelham pulled you over lol.

I have a I black esv caddy. 5% on all windows. 35% on windshield. 4.5 years and got my 1st ticket in October. A NC trooper got me 2 miles from my home. Said my windshield was the problem. I got a receipt from tint guy saying he removed it. Case was dismissed. Bit I haven't put 100 miles on it since. It's my garage art and I'm car poor anyways! Hell I can't drive 5 vehicles but I pay insurance on them!

I live on long Island and years ago I had a econoline van with non commercial plates so I could ride on the southern state parkway. I had windows on both sides. Going to the barn to see my horse. Only doing 50mpg. State trooper following behind me for awhile. Get off the parkway he is still following. Rite by the stable I get pulled over. You're not obligated to allow them put the tint shade checker on your windows.. politely ask him if he's gonna give you a ticket for window tint..if he says yes just smile and politely ask him to issue the ticket...go to court ...
