The first time I heard Adagietto was when I was "acquainted" with Mahler, the greatest Austrian composer and the most prominent opera and symphony conductor.
It was a long, long time ago...
Mahler's late symphonies are often called great,
but Simphony N 5 very well expressed his quality, which is present in all the music he wrote - a certain constant sense of crisis,
    of being at a crossroads.
    While working on the Symphoniy,
    Mahler met Alma Schindler,
who later became his wife Alma Mahler.
And Adagietto, dedicated to Alma, later became (both today and forever!) - his most famous music.
Adagietto for me is the most elegiac and beautiful work.
(And this despite the fact that I am not a random person in Music.)
When I listen to Adagietto, I understand
that IT is nothing more than Mahler's declaration of love to Alma,
    the amazing Muse of Creators,
    the inspirer of Giniuses,
the Woman of fiesh of Art!
Luchino Visconti and John Neumeier contributed to Adagietto's explosive fame.
(But that's a completely different story...)
I stop myself, because I can talk and write "kilometers" about Mahler, Alma,
Symphony N 5 and my beloved
    Adagietto.
Congratulations and gratitude to Conductor Gustavo Dudamel
    and the Orchestra! 🙏❤

Seems like Dudamel understands this needs a slower tempo. It makes this rendition absolutely beautiful. Among my top 3 favorites.
