For those unfamiliar with the work, THIS is the finest piece of music ever written. I am so looking forward to October 12th 2012 when I will be at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester to hear the 5th Symphony in its entirety... I cannot wait... This piece is every emotion we will ever feel as humans encapsulated in around eight minutes. A love letter to the composer's wife (any words would be superfluous)
I think this is by far the best of the recordings of this piece on RUclips. It is played superbly and is hauntingly beautiful. It leaves me quite moist eyed.
Gracias
I also loved the respectfully quiet delay at the end, before the audience clapped, allowing the beauty of the experience to soak in for a while. Quite superb.
Magnificent. Paced beautifully & with all the appropriate accents. Also loved the descent from the crescendo, which is so difficult to pace & blend all the different chords & colours from the instruments. I prefer this to Karajan's interpretation, which is a little too slow paced for me.

Perfect tempi, Rattle simply lets Mahler speak for himself, no posturing or exaggerations. Thank you.
The very definition of "loveliness". Bravo, Sir Simon.

I've listened again....it's beautiful....achingly so.
Purely heavenly!!
Oh, how I love you, my sunbeam,
I cannot say with words.
So, only my longing, my love and my bliss
can I confess (here) with anguish.

Beautiful entering with great tempo. I sincerely appreciate it !
Simply brilliant.
Perfect performance with Sir Simon Rattle. Probably with Boston Symphony orchestra isn´t it? Thanks for recording and salut from Czech Republic.
If only life itself could be as pleasing

I'm glad you've enjoyed it!
Thank you very much for your kind comment.
Hi Angel, thank you very much for your comment.
Tks for your gentle comment.
Siempre te voy a querer RM
This is God singing me to sleep.
Concordo.
👍
Karajan's interpretation is also a monster of a performance
The Abbado version on this platform is better, IMO.
