Maybe, but Herbert von Karajan’s recording with the Berliner Philharmoniker on Deutsche Grammophone is the best in my opinion.

@@eriknystrom5839I must admit I don’t know that particular recording but this one is expressionistic enough and is not too slow to win my heart. The nuances are perfect. This is my go to version. But I’m ready to revise my opinion if I hear otherwise. Salutations!

​@@eriknystrom5839Herbert von Karajan conducts the version which was used (was it until 2007?) - this version is in my opinion a great deal better. And Gergiev is a conductor with heartfelt emotions - warmer and deeper approach to music....
