I know in the past, he's had others send the save file over and he's patched it before, so I figured the end of this nail-biting tale would be just that; CA reaching out to you again and patching the save himself. I'm also curious if he would have been able to find out WHY it happened.

Since several people have asked, I didn't grow the pomegranate in the greenhouse because I was a new player and I didn't know I could do that at the time.

He literally makes the player TREMBLE! Shane kisses the player too but for one it was in public, and it was a peck after he got super excited with the team winning at a ball game, he immediately realized what he did and apologizes, then the player goes up to him and kisses him back automatically. What Elliot did was completely planned and inappropriate, plus he’s the embodiment of pretentiousness lmao, besides Haley he’s the worst single IMO
I cannot say for certain exactly what caused the issue, but I know the area of code that it happens. Just before the game saves, there are overnight updates that the game does, like set dailyLuck, weatherForTomorrow, update machine processing across the map, spawning forage etc. During this update, the dayOfMonth gets updated (dayOfMonth++). In the same method (but not immediately after), the game checks the value of dayOfMonth. If it is exactly 29, then dayOfMonth is set to 1, and the season changed. Something must have happened between these two areas of code that caused the game to stop its overnight update, but still save. Since the game checks for exactly 29 in the dayOfMonth field, any subsequent updates has no chance of moving into the next season. I may do some more digging to see what can cause this issue in the overnight update.
I wonder if it has something to do with the mobile version allowing you to close the game but still pick up where you left off in a day (instead of restarting the day like normal). Perhaps he closed the game in the perfect instant to interrupt the checks? Just a thought from someone with absolutely 0 programing knowledge, just glad to see the sun set on his eternal summer 😊
What is the reason for the exact 29 check and not simply a "greater than 28" check? Things like this are taught to be bad in programming for this exact reason, if you somehow manage to sneak by the check, you're stuck in a loop forever.

Concerned Ape is one man and a (mostly) unharmful mistake just messed over this one persons’ save. Happens, and it’s wonderful to have talented users and fans that can help each other out. This is definitely the most wholesome fandom :)
What would have happened if the day reached 2.147.483.647? Would have the counter started going negative? (If im saying bullshit its my fault, i know nothing about programming)
It’s quite ironic that after the eternal summer, after all those days of summer, they ends up on summer 1. Where they still have to play the whole of summer until they can reach fall

This could have been a Halloween episode. In any case, can't one plant fruit trees in the greenhouse on the Android version? It would not have fixed the unending summer but he would have been able to get his pomegranate.
Looking at the game code would lead to something going wrong during the saving so that the current day got increased but the season check didn’t. Since it check for the exact 29th day for a swap and not >28 it never changes afterwards
I don't know if I had a glitch or a secret discovered, but when I finished the community center I went to the left where the junimo hut used to be, randomly clicking to see if I could interact with anything, and got 3 Omni geodes???
If you don't pick up the reward after finishing a bundle, you can get the reward you left behind by the little junimo hut, so I guess you must have forgotten to pick up those Omni geodes at some point and gotten them back now. But I didn't know you can still retrieve those items when the community centre is completed, that's cool!
To each their own I guess. I hate it when content creators stretch a video idea that’s barely three minutes to ten minutes by purposefully padding it with irrelevant information.

Now, as painful as the glitch is on an unsuspecting victim, i have to wonder if there is a way to harness its power. To do so, 2 things need to be discovered first: how to replicate it, and how to end it without digging into the code manually. In the challenge run and speedrun extensions perspective, you could do single season runs. How would the community center change if done exclusively in spring, summer, fall winter, etc. Year 1 vs Year 2? Mixed seeds plus garden pots or greenhouse could handle most crops, but the glitch itself raises lots of questions as to how much is locked off, such as changing shop stock or season-specific cutscenes and events.
I think something went wrong when saving the file and it somehow loaded a new day before successfully saving the file. Since it might check the savefile to see the day and season, and it read 27 before successfully saving the file to 28.. Something like that, I'm not sure...
Unfortunately, it's impossible. To get garden pots, you need the greenhouse unlocked. Easy, right? Wrong. Quality Crops can't be bought. Additionally, mixed seeds can't grow certain CC crops. Everything else is possible tho.
@@trulynotsimon are you 100% sure about that greenhouse requirement? I can only speak anecdotally, but i dont recall it unlocking alongside my greenhouse, but instead based off the date in a particular season (a response to the approaching winter). If i recall correctly, then the issue isnt unlocking garden pots but instead progressing far enough into the year for them to be given, which is where year 2+ comes in. I framed it vague for a reason, as the year 1 and 2 gaps in content is enough to distinguish the runs. But even if i am wrong about garden pots, that does not make the greenhouse impossible to unlock, either. Sure, maybe you cant grow what you need, but you forget 2 things: first, remixed bundles. You might not need the same things depending on how the remixes line up, and by extension you could reroll the file until the CC lines up in a way to make it possible. Second, Joja. Trust me, i get it, but Joja is never locked off until CC is completed, and by that logic, we can either fully commit to the joja route and get through the game by buying farm upgrades, or do everything the CC has to offer that is available under the restrictions of the glitch then buy the rest through joja. All that said, i think you missed the part about making the glitch consensual. If we can trigger and deactivate the glitch at will, we can choose when to start it. If we need seeds up through fall, we dont trigger the glitch until fall and play the first 2-3 seasons before it like normal. We could trigger it in spring and see the absolute limits we can push the game without the calendar restricted features (yes, that includes spa and special orders board, among others). We could then take that spring restriction and apply it to any season of our choice simply by sleeping to the start of the season of our challenge before triggering the glitch. Finally, i want to point out that mixed seeds are not the only option to expand crop diversity even beyond what is currently on sale. With only a few exceptions, seed makers can get you pretty far as long as you can get your hands on the initial crop in some form. NPC/mail gifts, monster drops, and traveling merchant all fill that role, and unlocking the seed maker to begin with is only a matter of skull cavern luck and/or growing through the previously debated garden pots and greenhouse. But in the end, we are not even sure it can be replicated at will and if it was possible, the game has received at least one major update since discovery that completely changes the dynamic of what the glitch is capable of, if it is even still possible.

I imagine it sucks in practice, but you do have to admit the concept of a neverending summer is a really sick idea for a story

You can plant trees in the greenhouse in any season. I'm pretty sure the whole "need pomegranate" thing is just for dramatic effect.
