I would go absolutely FERAL if there is a history book from the Stardew Valley universe. Like, i want to learn more about the world. I want to learn about the elemental war, i want to know more about zuzu, i even kinda want to learn more about the history of even joja and i HATE joja lmao
This is really good! You did miss Sam’s 3 heart cutscene that you can get in year one. Sam mentions the Gotoro empire and calls them a “ruthless bunch” and Vincent says how he overheard adults saying that their soldiers were “being shot to pieces”. This is further backed up by Sam later saying that their soldiers were falling by the thousands. It’s unclear if Sam’s word can be taken at face value, as it could very well be just propaganda and what he thinks because his dad fought against them, but we can pretty easily say that the war is not going well on the Ferngill Republic side.
I have a headcannon that the snake fossil is a now extinct or endangered species of serpent, maybe the serpents in the dangerus skull caverns. Some of the features of the features lacking of the bones being made of scales or cartilage, the limbs missing from the snake skeleton could be explained as the bones were missing, or the snake is just a big snake lmao
Ginger island was probably used as a resort before Willy’s boat got ruined. The remnants of the resort stuff is literally right on the beach. I also wonder who put the gem bird shine there
could the gotoro empire be based on imperial japan ? gotoro itself seems to be a very japanese name, and based on kent’s remarks about the food he was served (sashimi and algae soup) we can also infer the cuisine is somewhat similar to that of japan’s
I'm currently in the process of making an NPC mod, said NPC being from outside the Ferngill Republic. You are making my mod possible, thank you so much for making this. Like seriously, this video alone (not even mentioning your other SDV lore videos) has fed me so many ideas. You are saving my mod-making ass right now, thank you so much.
Great video, thank you. Qi is usually a Chinese word and is pronounced "chee" but with an overtone (a harmonic?) that my American voice was not trained from infancy to pronounce. But "chee" is the closest most native English speakers can get. Qi's meaning is described briefly as: Qi is a concept in Chinese philosophy, medicine, and religion that refers to psychophysical energies that permeate the universe. The word qi is polysemous and can be translated as "vital energy," "vital force," "material energy," or simply "energy". It can also literally mean "vapor," "air," or "breath"
I will say that if the locations on the map are correct, Ginger island and the Fern Archipelago are probably located in between the Gotoro Empire and the Ferngill Republic, as the Gem Sea most likely is only refering to the body of water in between the two. I doubt the islands are big enough to be seen in a map like that.
18:20 Also! In one of Sam[?]’s heart events, Vincent mentions overhearing villagers talking about the war, and that Ferngill’s troops were being “massacred”
It could also be they were taunting him with warp totems that he can't use (lacking forest magic the PC has? The warp vendors at night market/desert faire don't just give you one, they appear to invoke it themselves so who knows) Or it could just be an oversight where the generic hated dialogue is playing for things that are not just foodstuffs, warp totems necessarily being a universal hate to encourage players to use them themselves rather than gifting them
On the subject of spirit's eve, it seems pretty normal to me to hear a news bit saying people around the region are celebrating a holiday that has larger appeal. I wouldn't think it was weird if I heard "People around America are gearing up to celebrate [Christmas/Halloween/New Year's Eve]" even though those are holidays that are not exclusively celebrated there.
Concernedape commented on another RUclipsrs channel and explain what that cutscene was and who Dobson is. So that's pretty cool. It was the original opening scene
I really enjoyed your Yoba deep dive and this one too!! I really wish the game would have given us more of the world’s lore, I love how Stardew has a kind of Urban Fantasy vibe to its world building. Do you think Haunted Chocolatier will expand on it??
I've gotta disagree with your placement of Ginger island, in-game it is referred to as situated in an archipelago in the gem sea like you stated, now archipelagos are normally chains or clusters of smaller islands separated by lakes, rivers or the ocean, which wouldn't match with ginger island being one big land mass incredibly far from the gem sea. I also think that Prairie island is situated in the archipelago as well.
I love these lore videos from you! The game feels alot less self contained and small because of all the small areas you unlock plus all of the places that are referred to off screen. I would love a whole seperate game set within the same world but like as maybe a combat based game, or a story based game.
the coordinates could make more sense if harvey just said them wrong since 43.5 52 is in kazahkstan specifically near the caspian sea making it make sense that pelican town is on a coast
Do you think thc being in the same world will be relevent? It'd be interesting if it was. Maybe i'm stretching though, cause I'm dying for any kind of hc news haha. Great video ❤
Maybe the bear is from Stardew Valley who was brought to be sold as an exotic animal by Birdy's Husband and survived the storm and lived on Ginger Island I'm tipsy so I forgot which way was it
I don't think that just because the bus comes from Stardew valley, the Farmer must do so too. When you are visiting a small town and aren't driving, you usually have to switch your transportation in the nearest town. There is no airport and the train station is closed since it is blocked by an earthquake so if our farmer wanted to go to Stardew valley he/she had to go to Zuzu city and take a buss from there. As for Joja mart, it can have it's headquarter in any city and probably have smaller offices around in other cities, it isn't like Amazon only have a single site they ship everything from and we don't know if we worked at the headquarter anyways. We also don't even know which the Republics capital is, that is never mentioned to my knowledge. We can only say that Farmer isn't from Calico desert.
I love this game, and it’s been such a joy to explore the game searching for the lore of the world. It has a sort of Soulsborne feeling in how the information isn’t outright handed to you, you have to pay a bit of attention to pick up on the lore and tidbits of info dropped by the townsfolk. I kick myself for not trying this game sooner
for a town called Pelican Town, there's literally no pelicans on sight
What about the pelicans on the beach
@@rameenshah3825 those are seagulls
@@AugustWurukkk I thought they were pelicans but man no pelicans in pelican town is crazy
I'VE BEEN SAYING
Perhaps they went extinct :(
It’d be very fun if Haunted Chocolatier is set in the Gotoro Empire. Kinda limits any references you could make, but it’d be cool.
I assume the traveling merchant would reappear, and probably sell stuff from Ferngill.

This was delightful! On Kent’s hated gifts: he also hates all the warp totems. What were the empire soldiers attempting with those, I wonder…

I keep wondering where is the Elven civilization, since there is an elven artifact?

CA refuses to confirm how he pronounces Qi because he enjoys hearing the different pronunciations
k-wee is how ca says it though

17:52 A hated gift is a farm totem. In your logic they wanted to bring him back home multiple times but he didn’t want it

when i saw mentions of Zuzu City in SDV, it initially freaked me out a bit, because Zuzu has been my irl nickname for years 😭 lmao
@blairdactyl hahah thank you!
This is only the second Zuzu I've seen online somehow

why is assumed that ferngill is an island?
