    I love my roto for my S&W 4" mdl 57 BUT, make sure to loctite the rotation screw as it will back out and your gun will drop to the ground. But short of that, it's a fantastic holster.

    I love this holster. It is finely crafted and Craft is SUPER good about customer service.
    -The magazine carrier is nice because it balances the weight of the firearm.
    -When you are done adjusting the holster and it fits like you want I suggest using a little blue locktite on the Chicago nuts so they don't work loose; mine did that to me (my fault) at the range and I couldn't find the pieces so I had to order replacement nuts for this.
    -I'm a big guy and fitted the firearm to rest in the 'hollow' of my ribcage between the top of my hip and below my armpit. I tried several different garments over it and told my wife to look carefully - she could not detect it printing.
    -Your firearm, BTW, will not fall out if you bend over and you DO know to 'look' your firearm back into your holster, right?.

      Not a safe holster for 1911 carried cocked/locked strap just goes under the trigger guard does not protect hammer/firing pin Also it leaves the safety completely exposed. Defeats the purpose of one of the safest guns made. Good holster manufactures won’t sell 1911 holsters cock/locked without strap between hammer/firing pin or strap across hammer so you can only carry in condition 2

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  2 года назад +1

      @Videos, there are many, many holsters for 1911 pistols that don't have any safety strap between the cocked hammer and slide/firing pin and many folks carry a 1911 in condition one in AIWB holsters, again without any safety strap. Is a safety strap a good addition to a holster for a 1911? A conditional "yes". But bear in mind that many folks carry striker-fired pistols that are 100% cocked - without ANY safety - an do so AIWB without a second thought.

    An alternative to using the belt straps is to lace heavy leather through the adjustment holes to create a "corset" behind the upper back. It makes concealment almost invisible even with lighter fabric collared shirts and no jacket required, but the limitation is full size semi auto, unless a person has a very large body frame.

    Informative video, great holster - I'm ordering one for my Cajunized CZ P-01 during cold weather month carry. For striker fired pistol carriers, when I reload/reholster my appendix carried P365X, the safety is always flipped on. Only when its in it's holster is the safety turned off, and left off. Negligent discharge a JHP through your femoral artery and you may bleed out before EMS can arrive. In a rural setting, even more likely you will.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  2 года назад +2

      All good points. Thanks for adding. As a side note, if you carry a gun that has a manual safety, you need to train to defeat that safety every time the gun comes up on target and train until you can't get it wrong. Otherwise, if you carry it with the safety off and it gets engaged accidentally, the gun may be useless when you need it most.

    • @dmlchannel3262
      @dmlchannel3262 2 года назад +2

      @@RidersRange Absolutely - and a good reminder. I've never had a manual safety get "bumped" or "knocked" into the "on" position, BUT others certainly have, and it could happen to me. As such, I train with a downward thumb movement to defeat the safety while placing the muzzle on target just in case. It's "muscle memory", and after 25 years of twice monthly trips to the range, I don't even think about it. Again, thorough video and I subbed. Keep up the good work.

    Good Morning ☕! I'm interested in a shoulder holster and really appreciate the information and your opinions. I like this "roto" design. I plan to get my CCW in the near future and don't have any experience in carrying a daily firearm. I have been practicing a bit around my house and property with my Shield OWB on weekends. I also have a Beretta 92x. I would like to have different options for different situations. In addition to what you mentioned, such as traveling, another option for me may be to simply carry both for range practice on my property or to openly carry while on my small fishing boat. 👍

    Unfortunately, my experience with the Craft vertical holster has been a bit different. I purchased the Roto holster recently for my 1911. If you are obese and/or over 6'-4", you might like their harness. I'm 6' tall and fit (at 170 pounds), and found their harness to be waaaay oversized. I had to adjust the harness to the minimum settings to even get close to a proper fit. After several emails to Craft, their suggestion was I needed a custom, smaller harness rig. Wait a minute, if your standard harness rig can't be adjusted to fit a 6' tall man then you have a real problem with your design. Their so called buy back guarantee included me paying restocking fees. After more emails, I finally decided their customer support wasn't worth the aggravation. I took the harness to a leather worker who fixed it. It's not perfect but it's better. Their design also has the shoulder holster hanging so low, it doesn't provide much of an advantage over a cross draw belt holster (at half the price).

      These holsters are custom made to order. If you order it to fit a red dot then it will fit a red dot.

    How is this for bending over? Or reaching up high? Twisting, etc. Does it restrict movement in any way?

      Daniel, I probably should have done more to demonstrate those actions. I'll have to remember that if I do another shoulder holster review. I didn't find the Craft harness limiting at all, though I didn't do any calisthenics with it.

    Would this be a good holster for revolvers? Or is there something smarter for them

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  10 месяцев назад

      The Craft Roto Shoulder Holster would be a great option for a revolver. I believe they make them for just about every Colt, Smith & Wesson, and Taurus revolver.

      @@RidersRange awesome, just bought a 6.5 in judge and figured a shoulder holster would be perfect especially for the cold weather coming in. Will probably end up buying one now

    Did your pistol fit right away? My slide moves back when I try to insert it

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  Год назад +7

      Good leather holsters often fit tight and need to be broken in. I wrap the pistol in two layers of freezer bags and let it sit in the holster for at least 24 hours. That usually cures a too tight fit.

      Place your thumb over the rear of the slide when holstering the weapon.

    Craft makes garbage. Very smatuer. The Galco is so much better. And no new info here; shoulder rigs have always been recommended by real pros.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  Год назад +2

      I have been using Galco holsters and belts for a couple decades and they are good quality. My experience with Craft/Falco is about the same as my experience with Galco. Your opinion of Craft may come from a single bad experience, which is unfortunate. But thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@RidersRange No, I actually have evaluated holsters for 50 years, am a ex-cop in a high-crime large city, have owned 2 gun stores and was a supplier to Dept.of State. The gimmick " swivel. Shoulder rig" concept was done before with little success. It can have issues. I get that you may not have had a problem with Craft but, you can. As you said, it is my opinion.
