This was fantastic! Would definitely appreciate a similar deep dive into the video capabilities of this, with an emphasis on cinematic mode. If possible, can you also check whether the focus tracking (the one where both focus modes are selected) is available for Pro Video and Cinematic mode for video?

Like many Chinese manufactured phones, some of the frequencies do not match those of US carriers. I would like to know if this phone ( kind of sort of ) gets notifications and calls or if it actually works 100% all the time. Making it a legitimate choice for U.S. consumers.
Cinematic video and how to shoot.
Getting my x80 pro tomorrow and this definitely the video I’ll be coming back to again, love how thorough you are with all the modes. This phone definitely makes mobile photography fun again.
This phone is a beast. Vivo are extremely underrated in the west, I guess cos they’re not sold here much. I’m gonna look in to getting this phone, it brings the fun back to mobile photography. Reminds me of the days when Huawei came out with the P20 Pro…that phone ignited my love and passion for mobile photography and took it to the next level.
Just bought it .competing now with my wife :) with her pixel 6 .the Vivo is crazy good .needs some time of course to get use to all fonctions and btw great tutorial here !keep up the good work mate !

@Charbel Masri as far as I found out:no.You have to set it in the preview.And it works only best with a distance from 0.5-2.0 meters.And with the phone aligned vertically.Just my 2cents.

I'm really impressed with the capabilities of this Phones Camera, I might go so far as to say that it's better than my current Samsung S21 Ultra, the multiple filter choices and editing options make it a desirable option and could really see it improving the quality of my Instagram posts .. I especially like that Macro/Super Macro detail feature, the "alleged" Macro feature on the Samsung S21 Ultra isn't just Cranky its annoying, it just doesn't exist unless you're prepared to scroll and scroll thru countless sections and sub-sections to get to where you need to be. Needless to say I'm not impressed with the Samsung S21 Ultra, I won't be purchasing another Samsung, I'll be shopping around ..

Thanks so much for a great video. I just got my Vivo 80 pro, before I used a Xiaomi 11T pro, no big changes in age, but a world difference in photo, even though, that the 11T pro tages pretty good photos. I am looking forward to get to know my vivo kamera. Looking forward to learn about the video shooting as well. Btw, I have used Blackberry Launcher on 3 andriod phones I have had, since I unfortunate had to let my BB stays in the drawer because of the need of apps in dayli life. The Blackberry Launcher and especially the Blackberry Keyboard works super good on Vivo compared to the Xiaomi.
I invested IDK how much in FSLR and lenses (including Zeiss) to see that Vivo is killing it :) is it possible to shoot Log in video mode? thanks

Thank you, this covered some of the things I did not know about. I have not been able to find how to enable histogram, waveform and audio level. Don't know if this is there or not, but in pro mode the i (info) button top right gives help instructions and lists these out. The contents of the info differ when in pro photo and pro video mode.

What a video Sir :) Great review - just followed the tips with my X80 pro on hands and feeling now like a pro hehehe :) The only pitfall of this device in my humble opinion is the fact that it is not possible to pair it with the Samsung Watch Classic 4. If it was not for it this device would get a 11 out of 10 hehehe ! Keep it up the great work

One advice if you want fancy UI experience and want more cosmetic looks like Miui and Color Os than you won't like this phone.. but if you aim to use as photographer and want stable smartphone than go for it... Phone is just blazing fast... Not felt hang since i purchased... Always update stable version of OS for more stable and battery backup...

only thing missing really with this phone is a high-quality zoom camera. i think it's better to do away with the 2x lens in favor of a 12mp (or higher) periscope lens

I'd go with the x80 has way more options camera wise, I don't have this phone yet but am already blown away, best phone for phone photography

Only downside I can see is bad batery life.

What network are you using? Was told not to buy if you have AT&T/Cricket because they can whitelist it and all you have would be a brick.
I use it on T Mobile and Google Fi without issues.

Where's the other speaker at?
I have been playing with camera settings for about half a day and I have the following complaints: 1) There are basically zero customizations in high resolution mode. You are just left with what the AI decided it to be. You cannot use high res in Pro mode. This is shame. 2) The camera is excellent in Auto mode but its white balance is often wrong (gravitating towards sunny WB, i.e. white details getting blue). 3) Pro mode is quite limited (no high res, as I mentioned) and it is really hard to set up so that it produces good result. And yes, I know how setting ISO, SS etc. work.
Nevertheless it is a very good camera. But I am probably about to return it and go for Xiaomi...
PS: The phone drains the battery like crazy when being used.

Tips are useful but you went a bit faster. Could not keep up with you and I just don't have time and patience to rewind and go through again and again. I got my X80P yesterday and these camera features seems a little difficult to learn or use. Thanks anyways.
