i didn't know about the envelope template either! That is awesome. I ruined a couple large pieces of paper trying to make oversized envelopes and they didn't turn out that great either. Next time I will try the SNC!

I see you pulled off a film from the standard mat. Do you put this back on or throw the film away?
You want to keep the film on your mat when it is not in use. That way you don't get dirt or lint on your sheet which would make it less sticky.

Can you leave the backing (steam seam) on your fabric to cut instead of peeling it off?
You could. It is just one more layer to cut through.

The SNC can work with SVG files. So if you convert a picture to that it should be able to cut it
