Wife got me the updated solar atomic DW-M5610U with the 3495 module for my birthday yesterday. This new version of the 5610 has same glow as your GMWB5000D-1. Not sure what other models have been upgraded to have the 3495 module, but it is loads better than the EL on my GWM500A-1 (very very good watch!). I wish the 5610 had a similar quality band to the 500A. The 5610 band feels like the one on the F-91W. EDIT: the 3495 also gives you duration options of 1 or 3 seconds.
I was born in 1973 (I'm old) I wore the early Casio calculator watches 40 years ago. Had the Casio Pulse Check about 30 years ago, as well as many cheap Casio models like F91 - to Air King. 5610 has got to be my favourite watch of all time. It's a do anything, go anywhere.
Hi Josh, thanks for the Square comparisons.. When you do your negative display review, you should take a look at the G-Shock G-Lide GBX100NS. (Actually, all the GBX100s have the same display). It has what will be the future of G-Shock displays. Casio calls it MIP, or memory in pixel. Check one out!
Good call! I have a GBX100 and will include it. I actually planned to include a bunch of other Casios too, like my Mudman and the AE1500s. Hopefully that'll make for a fun video.
@christon592 Yes, all GW-B5600 have the same function, no matter what version it is. More: GW-B5600 and GMW-B5000 have both the same functions, although in some cases the module behaviors are slightly different.
All great g-shocks Josh , really need to try one of those combi bracelets one day ...... I get confused with all the Ref numbers , you showed your GW-M5610BC negative display which is the one i thought/think i have , but my Ref number is GW-M5610-1BER , not sure how they are different , only thing i noticed was the case back is a little different , your's clearly says GW-M5610BC while mine only says GW-M5610 ................. Ah i think your's is the BC (bracelet combi) and mine is just the bog standard resin strap , cheers Josh :)
Oh, yep yep, that might be the difference. They made a few select models that actually come stock with the combi bracelet. I'm not sure if that's what the BC stands for, but it would make sense if it did. As for the combi bracelets... I think they are a game changer for the way the watch wears. If it were up to me, all G-Shocks should have that option. But, for me and my 8" wrist, most of the stock rubber straps just don't wear well. I'm always at the tail end of the strap, and because of that it cocks the watch off to a weird angle that not only makes it difficult to see the watch face (because it's not sitting flat on the top of my wrist), but it also just makes it less comfortable on wrist. The v1 combi fixed all of that for me though, which is pretty awesome.
That's awesome! I think the Nova is a sleeper, but in the watch world (instead of the car world). It's such a fantastic watch! I just, personally, wish Elshan would make a 41mm Nova, because my salmon one wears a little small for my taste. Which variant of the Nova did you go with?
I hope that works out well for you. That's the only trick with the metal ones... they're kinda expensive. But, the good news is that they can be had for less than MSRP is you shop smart.
Hi Nelly. Yes, I can do a video on it. I'm not sure when I'll get to it, as I have far too many ideas cataloged and backlogged, but I'll try to bump it up in priority.
Yep, I have one of those too. 🤪 I hope to make a video one day soon with all of those anniversary models. But, it has that great golden sheen to the display, which is nice. I should have included it in this video; it would have fit in well with all those others. Great recommendation!
Nice comparison. Lately I've been thinking about getting a G-shock square as I haven't owned one for a long time now and videos like this aren't helping. 😅
hahaha, sorry about that. But, I know what you mean. Half of the ones I get are because I see a video on them or see them in one of the many G-Shock FB groups, and then I go on the hunt for them. They really are fantastic though. I'll always have at least one in my collection, always.
Is it true that the GW-M5610 is a bit shorter and slimmer than the other G-Shock squares? I've heard that it fits a bit better for slim wrists. I have a 6.5" wrist and I'm leaning towards the M5610 or the B5600 with Bluetooth. What are your thoughts on these two watches in regards of comfort and size? Thanks for a great comparison video! Cheers!
That's a good question. There is a slight difference in size between the 5600 and 5610 series, since I know that mod kits and band & bezel kits for them are not interchangeable. On wrist, I've never been able to tell the difference though. The 5000 series metal ones wear differently, but that's probably not a surprise for most folks. Oh, the only G square that I've actually noticed the size difference on-wrist is the gw-s5600 Carbon Fiber one. It wears noticeably smaller, aside from it also being lighter. I think they're kinda rare and pricy though.
Is that the "stealth wealth" one? It's pretty awesome, but I don't own one. I've only borrowed one from a friend, but I now see why so many people like it (where, originally, I didn't understand the appeal of it, until I actually experienced it, and now I totally get why everyone loves it).

Long live the G-Shock Square! That purple on white is sick! I need to grab one of the 5610BA's. I do like the subtle blue tint.
#GShockSquare4Life They're just amazing watches.
The Full Metal Jacket Square is one of my very favorite watches, it’s just dead cool. Loved the Great Wave mod too - great summer watch 👍🏻
Definitely a great summer watch... it makes me want to go to the beach. hahaha

I love your passion man
thanks for the excellent informative overview Josh, so very helpful for me personally, and so many others as well ! have a great weekend :)
I'm a little late on replying (been super busy), but I hope you had a great weekend too.
@@HorologyinSanity no worries Josh, glad to hear that all is well, thanks !

I am a bit confused on the "half link" comment. You do understand that these bracelets have microadjustment on the clasps?
Does the GW B5600 SG7 have the same features as that of GW B5600BC1

Thanks.
Great video. thanks. Btw, in the Zelos line, my favorite is the Nova

Great vid!
I want to pick the SS one, waiting for a good deal

Gbd 200 esp lime green is a worthy addition
Very nice comparison!
Thanks
Hi Josh! Please can you do a video on that Kobe Orange G-Shock Square?!
Hi Nelly. Yes, I can do a video on it. I'm not sure when I'll get to it, as I have far too many ideas cataloged and backlogged, but I'll try to bump it up in priority.
are the blue and orange g shocks updated with the new module?
No, they still have not made an “Updated” version of them.
Wow.. interesting.. another G-Shock with a unique display is the DW-5735D 35th anniversary model, you should check it out! 👍👍

You didn't include the King of All Squares gmw-b5000tb-1jr (I much prefer it over the Blue)

Cool😀😀😀
The GLS has the countdown timer for the stopwatch and the countdown has three options: auto repeat, standard and bipping
I have absolutely never understood negative displays. The legibility flat out sucks!
What currency is RM?
I believe it is the Malaysian Ringgit
I want that purple dial white one. Would be interested to sell it?
